QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:11 AM) I think the layoff hurt the Cavs a bit. Is it just me or does LeBron seem a bit sluggish on the court these days? Obviously he is bigger and stronger than most, but I think his athleticism has fallen off a bit. MJ was able to weather that storm for quite a while. Maybe it was just Butler's defense. I'll be honest, every time I see Lebron, I go my god, he is a man among boys. I still feel that way. I think this was rust and LBJ trying to work and get things going with his new teammates. I think some of his turnovers were related to the fact that with this new lineup, he hasn't gotten to play much with some of these guys.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) I just have to say poor Niko, he's good enough to get more than 2 minutes even in a playoff game on any other team. He hasn't played well since he banged up his knee, but with the way things were going and pace of the game, it never made sense to bring Niko in (especially with TT out their). TT is a heck of a o-rebounder and that means you have to put everything into boarding.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 4, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) If he can just move his feet of stone a bit more and not give up so many rebounds that'll be huge Pau's rebounding in the playoffs has been very good, imo. He's brought his energy up a notch. Loved Pau's performance yesterday (especially in that dominant 3rd). When the Cavs were making their run, I was busy yelling, get Pau the darn ball. He is a huge x-factor in this series and will need to be because LBJ > Butler and Kyrie > Rose.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Hinrich -6 -13 + / - can be a pretty bad stat. A lot of that happened when Kryie went nuts. And it wasn't, no one was playing defense nuts...it was Kryie just playing insane.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) The good thing is that Shumpert pretty much played JR's role this game and they still lost. LeBron looked absolutely awful at times today. Big difference when you have Shump coming off bench, etc. They were thin and we need to capitalize these first two games. What I do like is we beat them with Kryie playing absurdly good. LBJ isn't going to have that quiet of a game 2, I can assure you. We will need to take step up and continue making the right moves in the chess match and of course playing our asses off!!! And make sure we do everything to seal on the boards cause Cavs have some very good o-rebounders.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) f*** you thibs for having kirk f***ing hinrich out there at all but especially in critical f***in minutes and f*** you for not providing any damn offensive plays other than Rose or Jimmy one on one at the end of the game... Other than that, loving this win tonight Hinrich actually hit some shots tonight and I know Kyrie got points but it wasn't because Kirk played lousy defense. I for one am glad Kirk is there (he isn't the perfect back-up by any sense and is a shell of who he once was, but in the post-season his experience and his smarts will be invaluable, imo). Plus, I don't ever want to see Brooks on the court when we need a stop. Thankfully the Cavs don't have a great backup PG so Brooks won't get abused like he did against the Bucks.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) Derrick has played really well tonight. Even on the plays where he isn't scoring or obviously making the big play, he's doing the right stuff. He also missed some shots where he was aggressive and more often than not he makes. Was very impressed with Rose. Butler was strong late in the game. Fun game to watch, although Cavs are playing without Smith (that said Shumpert had himself a night) and I expect Cavs will have more of an edge (that was a long lay-off). This is going to be a good series. Nice to get the 1st one on the road, but now we need 3 more in this series and the chess match will begin! Lets go Bulls...lets get them in game 2 too!!!

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) Weber even noticed that Bron Bron's feet were moving. Weber did a good job last night. Very fair in the calls.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2015 -> 05:26 PM) What's the foul disparity now? I honestly was puzzled at how the calls went one direction vs. the other. I will admit Cavs were aggressors but they also were me aggressors (vs. passing and getting ball into the paint). I felt Noah / Pau / Butler were fouled numerous times with no call (same goes for Rose but I'm used to Rose never getting the call).

QUOTE (Jake @ May 4, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) It stinks that we get Derrick healthy for a playoff run but Taj and Noah have been run into the ground. All year they both have looked like they just don't have the athleticism they used to. Describe "run into the ground". Do you mean, Noah was hurt, had surgery, didn't have a full off-season and as a result has not been the same (cause he certainly hadn't played a lot of minutes this year). And with Taj, do you mean, his ankles, which are a consistent problem, are hurt and he even said himself won't get better this year. Minutes haven't been an issue for the team this year and people still make this comment. If anything, us not playing minutes has been an issue, lol. PS: Taj has been pretty good this post-season, imo.

Welp...my daughter isn't going to prom.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) Its really surprising no one wasted a 7th on him. He should have kept his mouth shut (vs. making the comment if he doesn't go in first two days, he wouldn't sign). In hindsight, he probably would have been best served getting drafted as if he got drafted he could have at least been able to sit out a year and re-enter but since he went undrafted, he now is a mere UDFA (since league isn't going to let him re-enter). That said, maybe that works better for him in long run as he is just 3 years removed from being a FA?

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) This is literally a spoilers thread. So should the TV stuff go in the TV thread and this be more of a books thread? -
La'el Collins UDFA and will not be eligible for 2016 draft, so if he wants to play in the NFL, his only option is to sign as a UDFA. Presuming his name is cleared this week, I presume he will be the highest rated UDFA in the history of the league and teams can't really offer anything all that lucrative (in terms of the collective bargaining agreement), so it will be interesting as to which franchise can get him. Clearly as a football player he would fill a major need and would be the equivalent of an extra late 1st (early 2nd) and would be a guy who could start instantly in place of Mills.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
Chisoxfn replied to TaylorStSox's topic in SLaM
Ok...I'm going to suggest spoiler tags in this thread. You can all tell me I am crazy but I think at least the book related stuff should be in spoilers. That way, people like me who watch the show, can come in here and post without having to be worried about seeing stuff related to books which hasn't happened yet. If it is more a post about something that happened in tv and was just different than that part in the book, that is fine, but stuff about what it might mean given what you know in future books should be spoilered, imo. Anyway, you can all tell me I am crazy and than I'll just stay out of here but as currently constructed I can't come on and read about my favorite show and talk about the episode that happened. -
QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) I never watched Craig Counsell, the player, and thought to myself, "That guy is a future manager." I always thought Counsell was a smart, heady player.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) There are a lot of really good teams out there and GS is head and shoulders above them all. I don't see them losing. I'm not ready to crown the Warriors, but I did think the Spurs were the team most likely to beat them. I think Memphis sends it to at least game 6.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) While it's pretty presumptuous to think this way, I've been dreading the potential Bulls-Wiz matchup in the ECF more than Bulls-Hawks Jake....you will be banned for further discussing a series that is not in the "NOW". Lets get back to focusing on game 1 vs. the Cavs. Sheehs...you all are a bunch of jinxes and yes, I am extremely superstitious when it comes to sports. If I thought banning everyone and closing Soxtalk would bring a world series to the Southside, I'd do it. But alas, we know that isn't the case, cause the Rally Crede itself brought the World Series to the South Side!!! And now the Rally Gage will do his thing for the Bulls!!! Come on Boys...lets come out and let Cleveland know that we brought our A game and than some!!! I expect a physical series and I think one of the keys will be limiting the Cav's 3 pointers as well as controlling the glass (Thompson killed us with offensive boards during early season matchups).

Its funny, I wanted them to focus on defense but based upon what I read of the picks, I like who they got and I think that is very important (especially since we are looking to build something for the long-term). I'm also going to guess Pace sees more in some of our defensive players / LB's and given the money invested in some of those spots as well (most of it inherited..i.e., Houston, Young, Allen), he wants to get a chance to see them in the new system before coming to total judgement. The one that dissapointed me is I love Hundley's overall make-up, work ethic, and personality and I also like his athleticism. I agree his ability to read and make quick throws is suspect but I like everything else so much I would have absolutely taken him when he was there in the 5th. That said, I like what I read about Amos.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 1, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Space eater is a good call not much of a pass rusher at all. Which isn't what you are looking for out of your 3-4 NT. This should be really nice and he does a good job commanding double teams, etc, thus freeing up the LB's and other playmakers. Solid athlete and in my opinion not much difference in him vs. some of the NT's that went sooner. Really like this and fills a major need position (since Ratliff is the only NT we have right now, imo). We'll have to see how our lb's perform, given the new guys and people moving to the position as part of the new scheme.

Eddie Goldman to Bears. Should be a nice space eater. Would have also been okay with the OT.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) I agree with you about the OTs, but I don't think any of those guys make it to 39, especially Fisher and Clemmings. In full agreement but I see very few scenarios with Fisher falling to 39. Think it is more likely (although I would bank on it) that one of Landon / Gregory falls to 39.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) With all Fox and Pace have said about character I'd be a little surprised if they took Gregory. I for one would like to wait a bit on OLB. Bears have McPhee as a lock starter there. Then you have Allen, Young, Bass, Jones, SMC, and apparently Houston all getting looks at the other spot. Add in a mid round draft pick to the mix and I think one of those guys can be the starter. The more I think about it, I want one of the OTs. I think right now Mills is the weak link on this team, and Fisher/Donovan Smith/Clemmings all match up as BPA meeting a need. What are the character issues? I thought the biggest concern were whether he could handle the rigors of football. I know all of the reports have been "vague" outside of his pot issue, however, I don't know that it takes the extreme of character concerns. Did he have off the field issues involving violence, etc?

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) The rules for CBs that changed not too long ago is the reason for that. A trade down would have been nice, I can agree with that, but I don't see how White could be considered a risky pick. I never said risky. I do look at some of those wideouts on the bust list and I would have said there were red flags, whether Austin, Ginn, Williams (both of them) or Hayward Bey and in fact would probably have said all of them were taken too high (and would have said it at the time). The ones that panned out, outside of Braylon Edwards (who I was pretty high on), I always felt were safe picks. Rogers was guy I was wrong about but his bustness was more due to injuries.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Aaron Leming tweeted that Bears covet Randy Gregory on Day 2. He's clearly a talent. I long wanted him at 7.
