"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 01:39 AM) Then people would have said he fired up Detroit. Face it, many on the board won't be happy til we get a cliche spouter. You know: We take it one game at a time, we will try our hardest to beat a darn good Detroit team. Amazing to me but whatever. Not many times I agree with you Greg.. but I do here.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
Wow if true... (and someone look out for Heads and fantasy football people for suicide watch) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...neck-procedure/ The Colts F.O. have responded they don't know anything "as of yet". Favre's game streak is probably good forever now as well (which Peyton wanted to break along with other records of his).

ESPN Sunday Night Game
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Considering the only round where we actually try to draft the best possible player and not worry about signing bonus the last few years is the first round pick, draft slot matters more for the Sox than most. The last time time the sox had a top 13-15 pick under his new "draft philosophy" regime was Chris Sale (#13 overall) so I'm hoping that trend of the BPA continues as well.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Not really. More like offering fixes for next year's team. He wants to trade Quentin and Floyd, extend Danks and resign MB. Wants to send Gavin to NY for Brett Gardner. Also wants Dunn in Winter Ball. Wow I actually agree with him, especially with re-upping Danks. Though I'm sure Jason would be pissed since Floyd is his boy.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Getting the 13th pick is probably the best realistic possibility. I'd be happy if they fell into the first 15 in the rare event the organization decides to sign another Type A. Get a top 13-15 pick, and I'll be more than content.

ESPN Sunday Night Game
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) I'm not sure that's a win, win situation either. I heard on the radio where a person said the Sox basically draft for making trades anyway. There's always potential for getting another Brain Anderson, Josh Fields, Brent Morel. IF they happen to be successful, well...Walker will fix them. He was not a first round pick. And he was not this bad last season during his brief call-up. Hell he showed more power during that time.. when his stance was different.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) I love it. Just give up. I mean the team. I don't want to see any meaningless 12-4 finish to the season. Keep losing and losing and losing. A top 10 pick or slightly better is there for the taking. The sox are bad, but they ain't catchin Houston, Baltimore, KC, Seattle, Minnesota. Doubt that'll catch the Cubs, Padres, Florida, Pirates and Nats either.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) I haven't done so in awhile, but I'm listening to the post-game show tonight. I have to hear Rongey talk about this. I dare you to call in and say you think one player makes a difference?

Lets just hope guys like Flowers, De Aza, Viciedo, etc.. keep playing consistently (especially when Q is back, though I think he should just be shut down, not to hamper the trade value getting hurt more seriously).

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) It's all AJ's fault ! No wins since he came back. Damn cleanup hitters. Batting him 4th was god awful to begin with.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) You're wrong. I never respected your opinion on this board anyway. He rarely post on this board now-a-days. And when he does, he usually is very good.

ESPN Sunday Night Game
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) 0-3, 3 strikeouts...2 errors for Morel. He looks overmatched out there. Seems like he's not even swinging with a purpose at the plate. By far the worst game of his career. And I still hope he, Beckham, Flowers, De Aza, Viciedo, Escobar, (in some way) Lillibridge, etc. still see consistent playing time.

I commend the people who actually are watching this game from start to finish. I only turned it on to watch Reed pitch, than immediately turned the T.V. off.

I just hope Shane Lindsay isn't mentally weak. This could be another case of Arnie Munoz type head trauma.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) At least Kotchman could hit doubles. Well Casey had great plate discipline as well. I was saying more pure homer potential.

ESPN Sunday Night Game
40 pitches for Reed and 41 (and counting) for Lindsay. At this rate, those guys' arms are gonna fall off.

ESPN Sunday Night Game
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) Can he do steroids like Turnbow so that he can have more power than most NL pitchers? Though he was never going to be a huge power hitter, it just baffles me how a guy who had 3 homers last season in 70 PA, could all of sudden have 3 homers in 349 PA and look like Casey Kotchman (as far as power).

This is like watching the KC Royals playing from 05-09. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) I feel bad for the Aussie. Ya DBAH0 is not gonna like his new favorite player getting hammered like this.

9/4 games
I hope A. Carter gets his stuff together next year when he returns to AAA. His arm is too good to have such a disappointing season. (though the K numbers were still there) Looks good in AA right now. Would love to see another great young arm, for the minimum, in that sox pen.

ESPN Sunday Night Game
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Yep, he looks absolutely lost at the plate. He looked far more comfortable last year when he got called up. His stance when he first came up. And that was against sox killer Bruce Chen.

Wow Morel's mechanics changed alot since last season. Kind of resembles Credes alot now (especially with the late swings on fastballs).

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) Reed not looking so hot. That slider is rolling/hanging a bit. He is obviously nervous. Saw him pitch once with the Knights, and his slider has alot more bite than this.

First sox game I've turned on in three weeks. Why? To see Addison Reed.
