You are Jerry Reinsdorf, you decide, who gawn?
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Even going back as far as 2005, the benefit of having Ozzie Guillen as manager was never his ability to manage a ballgame and be an x's and o's guy. Ozzie's contribution has always been his ability to motivate, deflect negative attention, and keep a clubhouse loose. Well, I'm not seeing much motivation from our players, there's plenty of bad press about this team and Ozzie's antics are no longer putting that bad press on page 2, and, from the looks of it, our team is far from loose. So what exactly is it that Ozzie is providing this team? And I don't mean to imply that KW is without fault for this dreadful season; ultimately all roster decisions are on him regardless of what Ozzie requests. But, perhaps it's just me, I would have never put this team at 9 games under .500 in mid-June given the opening day roster and early season schedule. There were plenty of threads on this board and articles in the national media talking about our rotation being in the top 5 of MLB. We were also supposed to have a decent pen. So yes, the offense didn't look great coming into the season, but with the pitching we were supposed to have we'd be in it to grab a bat closer to the deadline. The pitching flopped and you can't put that on KW. So yeah, mark me down as wanting Ozzie canned for being a sh*t manager, not because of his roster requests. Outstanding post.

Olney: Sox to start trading away vets
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) That may be true, I don't disagree, but teams aren't going to risk trading for players making that kind of money unless they believe the results will come with it. And why wouldn't they? Read from the last page on. I just posted a couple of post up that a team can easily get a great pitcher again. Put him back in the NL (especially at a pitchers park) and you will get the same guy. Remember, sox screwed around with him with tweaking his mechanics early on, and its not like he is clearly injured (or severe lack of velocity). No doubt in my mind he would be dominate going back to the NL where he knows the hitters.

Draft Day 3
QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Solid Vanderbilt commit, can't see us swaying him. Their last few picks are all tough signs IIRC. Should be interesting to see whom the sox can persuade.

Draft Day 3
Sox pick Conrad Gregor RF high schooler. Indiana native.

Olney: Sox to start trading away vets
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) Scouts are smarter than someone wanting to write him off after 2 bad months and some mechanical issues. Thank you. Put him back in the NL and he will probably the same guy. Especially if he was in a pitcher's park.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) Any chance that we can pay for a hitting coach to win this thing, so he can go and talk to him?

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) Maybe it's a good thing he was on a pitch count. He wouldn't want to end up like this. No it was good, wasn't saying it wasn't. Just for the sake of a fan watching though, he makes you want more of him when he pitches. I don't think he had more than 80 pitches in a game in the minors so he was on a strict count.

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread
I firmly believe if he went 9 innings, he would of K'd 19.. maybe 20 hitters. Had what 7 in a row before he was replaced?! Noone was even close to touching him. Shame he was on a pitch count.

Draft Day 3
Last three sox picks. Dusty Harvard - OF John Spatola - OF Both seniors. Should be easy signs. Benjamin Griset - LHP High schooler (yay. )

You are Jerry Reinsdorf, you decide, who gawn?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Kotsay has 6 HR on the year. Vizquel has markedly positive UZR numbers at 3b and SS, negative numbers at 2b but he's only getting time there because our starting 2b is sucking royally. Kotsay and Vizquel have been adequate at their job. Every time anyone blames this season on Kotsay or Vizquel, God Kills a Kitten. Boy that was a weak argument for someone who wanted him re-sign badly and thought he would have a career year year at age 34 for the whole rotate DH idea. (which is a good idea.. but you don't have the hitters to imply it to) Pierre was what Ozzie wanted to in a slap happy, speedy hitting LF.

Draft Day 3
Sox picks. Kylin Turnbull LHP - 31 Robert Young LHP - 32 Jarrett Casey LHP - 33 Wonder what crazy idea the sox are doing there.... And they just selected a Chicago Illinois native. Jamaal Hollis RHP - 34th pick.

Draft Day 3
Cardinals picked Ryan Copeland from ISU.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:02 AM) Let me just say that I am ecstatic with the amount of great young talent in the bigs right now. We have so many thing to look forward too: Stephen Strasburg Mike Stanton Jason Heyward Wade Davis Brian Matusz Neftali Feliz Bryce Harper This on top of guys like Lincecum, Ubaldo, Longoria. Oh, and hopefully Gordon Beckham. This is the influx of talent we've been waiting for. Thank god most of those guys you listed are in the NL. I'll be jizzing when Strasburg K's 10+ against the Cubs every year.

Ozzie and I didn't have to think hard about it. Honestly, though both of those guys are only part of the problem.. The organization as a whole really needs to take a look in the mirror.

The "Is it over or not?" thread
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) Ok, where's the crow - Ill eat the whole damed thing. Blow this crap called our team up. Trade em all - start over. Epic fail. All optimism is over. I admire the confession brother. Pat yourself on the back!

NBA playoffs thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Gerry, you really think you're some pimp s*** when it comes to NBA, but this isn't exactly my first rodeo. Sorry you found my Andrew Bynum comment so hysterically bad a month or so ago, even though he's 22 and the entire league thinks highly of him. You also ignored his PER... he's a stud if he stays healthy. Anyway, I guess the moral of this rant is that you can slob my knob, son. Haha, your still on that Bynum comment I blasted you on a month or two ago (I was talking more or less over the years of your "analysis" on players)? Let it go bro, sorry I hurt your feelings.

6.8 Games
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Great outing by Hudson. He bounced back from a poor start with classic stuff, 10K's and no BB's. Way to go. Morel really struggling. 5 IP 2 H 1 ER 2 BB 5 SO is "poor"? I hope you meant his first month of the season. BTW, I'm glad to see Nunez back in the bullpen. I still like his arm and could be one of those young guys who gets a shot up here (or in his case another one, instead of the cup of tea) Santos Rodriguez continues to settle down and impress lately.
