He may just be on the coaching staff once Cora becomes a manager somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) Yeah, I saw the cover of the Sun Times yesterday had a picture of G-Rod in a cowboy outfit (story about his offer of national guard to the city), but I can't find that image online. That would be perfect. Done and done...

I wouldn't be surprised if he landed with another AL Central team. Y'know for some "inside" info.

I thought that CJ Wilson kinda showed them up a little...so, if I were the Rangers, I would watch out for in your ear next week.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Its not quite scarlet. Then I don't give a damn.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Is there any way to or can wool hats be stretched after shrinking?? If so, how? I got soaked in the rain and my cap shrunk to a much tighter fit than I prefer... Well, maybe if you soak your head...it will shrink???

Happity Burfday!!!

On the bright side...THIS TEAM IS IN FIRST PLACE!!! Also, let's see what Konerko does in the first couple of games after the break. Maybe he will realize that this is a game and chill out and just play. At least I hope so.
-
give him his rest...let him chill out and see what happens after the all-star break. If he can't find his control in the first start or two, ya gotta put him on the DL. Try someone else.

I think this says it all: Well I lost an eye in Mexico Lost two teeth where I don't know People see me comin' and they move to the other side of the road. I robbed a liquor store To make myself at home a few times Borrowed myself a car when I needed it. I got me a shack at the bottom of the road Fixin' cars and givin' tows Spend all my money on the lottery. When I win the lottery gonna buy all girls on my block A color TV and a bottle of French perfume When I win the lottery gonna donate half my money to the city So they have to name a street or a school or a park after me When I win the lottery Never run a flag up a pole Like Mr. Red, White, and Blue down the road But I never called myself a hero for killing a known communist. Now I can walk into any old bar Find a fight without looking too hard But I never killed someone I don't know just 'cause someone told me to. And when I win the lottery Gonna buy the house next to Mr. Red, White and Blue And when I win the lottery Gonna buy Post 306 American Legion, paint it red with five gold stars. When I win the lottery. When the end comes to this old world The rocks will cry and the rest will curl up And God won't take the time to sort your ass from mine. 'Cause we zig and zag between good and bad Stumble and fall on right and wrong 'Cause the tumbling dice and the luck of the draw just leads us on. And when I win the lottery, gonna buy all the girls on my block Silver-plated six shooters and a quart of the finest highland scotch 'Cause when I win the lottery, the rocks will shake their heads and say that God is good but surely works in mysterious ways. When I win the lottery.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) Yeah my stance is what is worst fort he NCAA/NBA and best for players getting paid as soon as possible. There is no reason why a player should risk millions of dollars just because they have to. You mention Deandre Jordan, its possible he never gets back to a top 5 pick, so the rule effectively may have cost him and his family millions of dollars. If the NBA is THAT worried about it, maybe it should be more like MLB? Draft out of HS, if they want to go to college, they have to stay for three years or until they turn 21...and then go back into the draft. And like Zoom said...have a stronger NBDL. Or they could do it more like the NHL...draft players and hold onto their rights while they play in college. But, then have a minimum of two years in college. To protect the player, the team can have a deferred bonus based upon draft position. To protect the team, they could use that deferred bonus as a buy-out...and the player can either re-enter the draft for that year or become a free agent or something like that. The problem is protection for the teams AND the players. I'm sure there are problems with both scenarios, but it was a thought. -
Is this Courtney Cox circa Friends...who I loathe? Or the Courtney Cox I fell in love with while Dancing in the Dark?

Happity Happity Burfday Burfday!!

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Kind of, but IIRC Carew leaned back a lot more and the bat hung lazily over his shoulder. Carlos looks like he's ready to fight off a bear. It's definitely more aggressive, but he's got the same kind of squat that Carew and even Pete Rose had. Kinda like a spring ready to attack. But, of course, CQ definitely has more power than those two.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) With his normal lead Cabrera was already out of the line of sight of the pitch, and was halfway to 3rd before the ball was released. It doesn't matter. You still see your guy running and want to protect him. But I like Ozzie's take. Don't stew about it, just say something, get it out of the way, yell, kick, scream, make-up...done. What happened to the OC that was the "team leader" for the Angels? Is he pissed he was traded? Weird.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) Sad but true on Juanito. Carlos Quentin's is my new favorite. He looks like he means business up there and like there's no way you're getting anything past him. Bad ass. Hilarious! RIP Ivan Calderon... And for you old folks, Quentin's stance reminds me a lot of Rod Carew. Anyone else?

I spent it on stimuli. Actually, didn't get one. Jerks.

Thanks to the three of you...to the rest of you...I'll be sic-ing AnthraxFan93 on you for the rest of the year!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) All I'll say is that it's a crying shame that Varitek is in the game seeing as how there are like 12 other better candidates. This just goes to show that the Fan Vote, while nice, shouldn't be the deciding factor for starters. Personally, I think it should be: Fans continue to vote for the last player GMs choose starters Managers and coaches choose bench. But it will never happen so.......

While you are absolutely correct about the Sox being their biggest challenge...the Twins have had a relatively easy schedule since the Sox sweep. The only team that is really scary...and that is really only in their own division, is the Brewers. They also played such powerhouses as the Nats, Padres and Indians. Yes, they did play the first place D-Backs, but they are at .500 right now and are struggling. They did take 2/3 from the Tigers and took 4/6 from the Brew Crew, but, this isn't a team that swept the best of the best. Then I would be more worried.

Happity Burfday! Do they have burfdays in the Dakotas?

News is news. Jesse Helms made news being a racist and homophobe. Ted Kennedy made news with Chappaquidick. In death, they should be brought up...considering these weren't small things. Now I don't know what good things either one of these guys did, but in fairness, the good should be mentioned as well. Personally...I'm glad he's gone. That's one more hateful, angry person off this planet.

Happity Burfday, Big Ed!
