  1. Chewing gum cigarettes...lots and lots of chewing gum cigarettes! Seriously though, good luck. I smoked on and off for 5 years and luckily, for me at least, it was easy to quit...I just stopped buying them. But that was me and everybody is different. So, stay strong!
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Thats like saying you have conjunctivitis in your toe. Wait...are you saying that can't happen?
  3. As for the torch lighting...it HAS to be either Ditka or Da Superfans! Baseball will not come back in, but the USA softball loss in the gold medal game might just have saved it.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) Me and my team of residents have been reading your case over and we came to the conclusion that you have a sinus infection of the rectum. Amended.
  5. QUOTE (Steff @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) I took Bri to Florida for 2 weeks then to Arizona for a week. I bought diapers and formula when I got to both places and I used the cribs provided by the hotels. I got lucky on the car seats because my sister had my nephews I could use in Fla and my girlfriend let me use her sons when I was in AZ. Bri was 3 months old at the time and spent lots of time in onsies and simple outfits. I know it's a bit of a hassle, but you can pack pretty compact for them. I got to take her diaper bag and small stroller on board for free, in addition to my 2 carryons, so that was a help. I agree it sucks - the charges - but it's all they've got aside from raising the flight costs even more than they already have. Thanks...that helps. Also, there's a service called Babies Away. It's parents and grandparents that rent all kinds of things from toys to cribs to pack and plays...so I think we are going to use their service for some of it.
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) It's your liver trying to get your attention. You have been ignoring it by not drinking enough to give it anything to do, and it is getting restless. My liver does not have that problem. In fact, my liver has recently applied to go into hiding as part of the federal witness protection program. I think I saw your liver on the hitchhiking on the Skyway...trying to get to Kalamazoo for some Bell's.
  7. Why do you want to fire Jeff Cox? Because he's too aggressive? I think this team needs to put pressure on the opposing team because they are too slow. BA scoring the other day at home is the perfect example. I do think the team is bunting better, still not up to major league player standards, but better. I lik eCox, I think Cora is a great bench coach...let's let it go. Oh yeah, and the team is in first place, did I mention that before???
  8. And one of the best nicknames ever....
  9. That NBC show with Christian Slater looks kind of interesting....
  10. I think it's a little too early to be thinking about buying out the first years of arbitration. Maybe wait until after next year. I think he's a great talent and will continue to be, but the Sox should see about injury (since he does have a history) and to see what next year looks like. Now, if he wins the MVP, and the Sox win the WS or get close, I might change my mind.
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) The bacon in a can interested me for a moment, and then my arteries started to rebel and made my hand go numb before I could click the mouse and order some. I was ordered by them to not try and order that again or they would cut off blood flow to other 'more important areas'. Your duodenum? I have actually used the term duodenum on a message board...I may now die in peace.
  12. Have you eaten any pea soup lately? The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you!!!!
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) I am a Heinz 57..... Are you bright red, move slowly and shouldn't be found anywhere near hot dogs?
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) What are they supposed to do? Not raise costs to make customers happy and fly every plane at a loss? They are really between a rock and a hard place because flying planes is not cheap. I didn't say not to raise fares...I'm saying that to raise fares and then start charging for other things like pillows, blankets, food, 2nd bag, shoot, probably 1st bag eventually, those are the kinds of things that are really going to piss off your customers. Lemme give you an example. My wife's family has been planning a trip to Hawai'i for her parents 25th anniversary for 5 years (they are major planners). Well, obviously, you can't get a ticket more than about a year in advance. And honestly, I'm fine with purchasing the tickets at the current price. I mean, it's not ideal, but I understand. What's pissing me off is that our son will be 5 months old then and we are going to be bringing a lot of stuff for him (diapers, formula, pack-n-play, etc) and the airlines are going to be charging for all of it. What am I supposed to do, not take it? Rising prices + losing benefits = alienating the people that use your product. I think people will pay what it costs if they are given a complimentary soft drink, a pack of nuts and a free 2nd bag. You start charging for everything and people will find another way...that's not helping the airlines. And honestly, where the f*** is Amtrak during all this? if I were them, I would be hawking my wares all over the place.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 06:33 AM) I think you guys are underestimating how much money airlines have been losing lately due to fuel costs. Not at all...in fact, I'm fully aware of it, but to raise prices and cut benefits is just going to make customers angrier, high fuel cost or not. And the speed at which fares (and gas prices) went up, has consumers surly as it is. And this kind of thing only makes people more surly.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) I guess he didnt even know he had cancer until last sunday. Thats vry sudden. Unfortunately, that's pancreatic cancer. Once you have it...that's just about it. Sad. RIP.
  17. And they want to try to curb air rage. Yeeeeaaaaahhhh, good luck with alllll that! And you can bring beverages on the plane, you just have to buy them at the airport.
  18. Jimbo...I second that. I think either one of us will buy you lunch if you can get us an interview. Don't know what Jimbo does (except rip on Illinois and Missouri, although I don't think you get paid for that! ), but I'm a video producer/editor. If anyone hears of anything, a lunch, on me, at your favorite lunch place!
  19. Al Levine, Fred Manrique, and one of the most obvious of all (I mean, C'MON PEOPLE) our very own Kenny Williams!
  20. If the Chicago 2016 Committee wins and follows through on it's idea of recycling, I think it's going to be great. Beijing wanted to make a HUGE splash, and by looking at the architecture, the Birds Nest and the Water cube, for example, they did. Chicago doesn't have to do that. If Chicago can pull off their plans to have temporary stadiums or ones that can be drastically scaled down afterwards, I think it's fantastic...especially for the infrastructure and for those 17 days, we can stick it to NY and LA and any other city that thinks the midwest is the "boonies."
  21. Perry's Deli on Franklin (I think).
  22. My wife (All-American in High School, swam competitively at Rice U.) was screaming (quietly, had a sleeping baby), up on her feet and couldn't believe Lezek was 3/4 of a body length behind with 50m to go and caught up...Bernard tanked that last 50 and swimming a 46 flat 100 by Lezek, is absolutely ridiculous.
  23. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) From Pneumonia??? Isn't it rare nowadays to die from that? I think he had some disease and pneumonia was an offshoot of that. Kinda like HIV...you don't die from HIV, you die from the sickness you can get from the HIV-weakened immune system.
