He didn't get the 2 high pitches that were both showing up solid white on that TV strike zone. The low one was the most egregious . Definitely in the zone .

No Robert, No Benintendi, no Vargas. Tauchman, Lee , Workman all playing in AAA all supposedly back soon. Not sure of Benintendi status. They just invested in Workman , so he can't stay in the minors. Tauchman will come up too. If Lee isn't called up they use his last option. Elko not likely to be around in a week -10 days from now .

I also don't like the use of hyperbole towards my opinion to make your point. I have never used the word savior nor has anyone else to my knowledge. He deserved a shot with his current stats. That's it. You can say what you want if you think labeling a prospect as he is what he is then that's up to you after a mere 2 full and small parts of 2 other seasons . It's not like his plate discipline was terrible in your larger sample size. His career OBP is .348 I understand the reluctance to support a 26 yr old 10th round pick because chances are that kind of prospect succeeding is the exception rather than the rule. Chances are you'll be right if that's important to you. My fandom is about allowing prospects to develop and supporting them when they deserve a shot on the big club that's been filled up with AAAA type failures getting shot after shot and hoping they create a bit of excitement on a team with very bad offensive numbers . I know your not the only one who needs him to prove it. That's fine . He's been treated as organization filler by those who do Future Sox too. It goes with the territory when you start your professional career at 23 after being a 10th round pick.

I'm not going to pretend I have any knowledge of how JR runs things or his bookkeeping or how he allocates his money . Obviously 26 MLB players all making varying amounts adds up to something as does hiring new staff for different departments that have to do with baseball operations and drafting players domestically and internationally and buying machinery. equipment, maintenance and transportation costs is a lot of people and things to pay for. Maybe Getz has tough choices to make if he spends $5M getting new toys that's $5M he can't spend on players. Every player on the 40 can't be a prospect who's developed enough to at least earn an opportunity. There's just not enough talent around to not pay somewhat reliable veteran talent. Also while rebuilding you can't bottom out so much that it dries up your revenue streams because your product is so bad fans and advertisers and TV people won't pay for it.

This is a little too simple to apply or even debate since it's your opinion .But I will say that development takes many forms and if you only use the term to mean improvement it's not easy to give percentages. Just the willingness to make changes is a good development that may not lead to getting better. Certainly it's 100% on a player to admit he needs to do things differently but may need help from outside sources and those sources may suggest multiples way to change based on their observations. Change does not often lead to improvement. Sometimes players are reluctant to change or they follow the advice of the wrong people. Plus development is a step by step thing that takes longer with some than others. A new batting stance can incorporate a bunch of things . So many parts of your body go into standing in the batters box ,having an approach, identifying a pitch, swinging , hitting it ,hitting it where they ain't or with any kind of authority. Improvement is more possible with some than with others due to physical limitations that can only be minutely improved or mental processes like learning disabilities, frustration, patience, fear, work ethic. Hitting is so very difficult and gets so much more difficult that even the changes you made along the way to get where you are, may not be enough to get get you to where you want to go .

Why do you act as if you are so ignorant of the entire Elko situation that you can't even be fair and give Getz a little credit that some people he hired and a machine he bought helped a player ? This is the whole goal of upgrading R and D andsking new hires. You got busted because you know what you originally wrote was so stupid you changed it now outright deny any knowledge of things Elko said in an interview about why he believes he's doing better this year.

Lol I saw that. You were in such a hurry to argue with Eddy and condemn Getz for having nothing to do with Elko that you told Eddy 'Wrong" then quickly edited your post to remove "Wrong" and add I guess...at the end. I thinking to myself, wait, Getz was promoted to Asst.GM in 21 and Elko was drafted in 22 and hired the coaches recently who worked with him and gave him a plan to get better and Getz bought the Trajekt machine which Elko said was a part of what he used to improve this year that Getz actually has played a significant role in his drafting and development . I wasn't really pleased it took as long as it did to call him up nor the crap that came from Getz 'mouth about it. This is just the type of thing Getz wants to accomplish and it should be a good sign . I'm not predicting massive success but this is a very good development. Of course there's much more to be done.

Maybe somehow you missed that it was because of what the new coaches wanted him to do and he applied it to become better. I don't know how far back you're talking about for him never really being known as a patient hitter considering he's only had 2 full seasons in the minors. He's a minor leaguer in the process of developing. It bothers me when people talk about prospects as if they are what they are . We should be pleased he's worked hard enough to get better rather than slapping labels on them.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
There's no such thing as a cheap veteran who is consistent enough to do as you suggest. They picked up cheap veterans Tauchman, Slater, Rojas and they all got injured. Anyone who cost over $5M they weren't signing. And even then a $10M per year player who is a little better expects a multi year contract when they are a free agent. What you suggested either does not exist or was not an option for Reinsdorf. If I was to make wishes I would've wished for a lot more than you did. They pretty much had the same chance of happening the past couple off seasons.

I was clamoring but I have zero expectations. He's another player that deserved a shot like any other minor leaguer who does well enough to get called up . If he was a 1st or 2nd round pick he would've been in the Sox Top 30 a while ago. Despite the high K rate he's done very well and progressed swiftly . You can say it's because he's older but that happens when you play through the Covid years and 5 years of college ball. He's been coachable for the new staff , done things they suggested and has become even better. He may or may not make it but he is more prepared to take his hacks than he was last year . That's what I expect. There's no call to make predictions or have expectations. Just let it play out.

We'll see how long he stays up. Would be sweet if he could hit a 3 run bomb early.
