  1. It feels like 1 day he was a prospect, then in the WBC and then on the Sox. He is the epitome of the new front office regime and as a 5th round draft choice a true talent that has defied odds to will himself to prominence quickly and efficiently.
  2. I wouldn't give up prospects then resign him. Might as well just wait until he's a free agent. He might need a huge contract as big as Max Fried got. A pitcher getting 8 years $218M under Jerry ? Not likely. Especially if they make an attempt to keep Murakami. Ishbia isn't the owner yet. If the can Tigers put together a 5+ game win streak with Skubal back and Mize coming back Wednesday they probably hold onto both until the last minute to decide if they have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Even now being 6 back in the wild card isn't bad but they've been pitiful on the road (11-26). Mize will be a popular target if/when he's made available . Getz will probably be in stealth mode for a while. Not sure what your idea of crazy capital is . There will be multiple teams interested in both and in desperation mode too or just willing to pay a higher price. Dodgers always lingering.
  3. Sure they do. I put you in the place of the professionals who deemed Murakami unworthy. You deemed Gonzalez unworthy. Things change or can change. Evolving is what player growth is all about. You fail to think he can evolve, you look at his past and say it can't be done. Yet here he is in the big leagues with more room to grow.
  4. I didn't think so considering if he went as high as 15th that's still damn good money and would be hard to get more no matter how much the Sox saved . I just like his swing and he is a CF. Not sure he'll stay there as a pro.
  5. Luckily the scouts and others found the red flags in Murakami too much to overcome too. No rush on Gonzalez to jump to conclusions.
  6. Right now he does have somewhere to play since Mune isn't back for maybe 2-4 weeks. Just keep giving him AB's and worry about sending him back down when Mune does come back. Things will be changing in 2-4 weeks if both Teel and Mune are back. Nothing wrong with him continuing to flourish in AAA. He still needs reps with the changes he made and his time in the bigs might guide him and Fuller continue to adapt. He wasn't called up the way the Sox normally like to do it. He fit the bill as far as being hot ,which they like ,but they prefer a more natural way besides an injury like an actual position to play full time.
  7. Any chance Derek Curiel could fall to the Sox in the 2nd round if they save money with a Lackey pick considering he suggested staying out of the draft to go back to LSU ?
  8. Batting average or just being average ? He's only played in 32 of the Brewers 69 games this year and still can't field or run. He has compiled a 1.0 fWAR. For him that's amazing considering he's been unable to play over half the games.
  9. No I doubt it. There are reasons for a promotion. Maybe he's not motivated to get better as much as the Sox want. You put him in AA and see if he's sufficiently motivated by a certain amount of failure. Of course you don't want him to fail necessarily but there are varying degrees of failure. It's like with Braden Montgomery and hitting the pitches on the outside edge. Too many K's and not enough contact on those pitches. He worked on it started hitting great and that's when they like to call guys up.
  10. I'd be surprised. I'd consider Gonzalez a top guy now and you don't throw away that on a rental. I understand selling high but not on a breakout season on a guy who just turned 24. He fits the Sox profile of LH power and a discerning eye. If Mune leaves Gonzalez becomes even more important.
  11. There's a reason why Getz said Acuna was a switch hitter. He was dizzy from doing cartwheels after he got a taker (sucker ) to take the money and give up 2 players. The players were secondary as long as they got the money. Getting an athletic , fast SS with bloodlines wasn't a terrible idea. There's enough there to work with but not having options kind of sucked. He really should be in the minors undergoing treatment from Dr. Fuller.
  12. This team hits way more HR's and takes more walks and is way more left-handed however they both generated excitement. Big time power always brings in the Southsiders. We've had far too few teams like that. The 1977 team was like that. Oscar Gamble led the team in HR. The South Side Hit Men Oscar Gamble 31 3.6 WAR Richie Zisk 30 2.7 WAR Eric Soderholm 25 4.4 WAR Chet Lemon 19 5.9 WAR Jim Spencer 18 Lamar Johnson 18 Jorge Orta 11 Jim Essian 10 3.4 WAR Brian Downing 1.5 WAR so catching was great. Ralph Garr 10 Also had Lerrin LaGrow at closer had 7 wins and 25 saves and 4.2 WAR Finished 90-72 which was 3rd in the AL West. So no playoffs. Gamble and Zisk were impending free agent traded for by Veeck for 1 year each so next year they were gone and the wins and losses .reversed. Rich Gossage and Terry Forster were traded to the Pirates. So some of the 1st rental players. Bucky Dent and the young Lamar Hoyt were traded to the Yankees. Hoyt never pitched for the Yankees and the Sox reacquired him for the 1979 season when he was 24 years old. The Sox hit a then franchise record for HR with 192.
  13. Have you used an internet browser on your smart TV ? I can get you the game or any game if you want to message me. It's probably the easiest way if you have a fairly new 4K smart TV.
  14. Sure did ! He crushed that one 415 ft. Montgomery's HR landed in almost the same spot.
  15. Beauty and the Beat will be celebrating it's 45th anniversary of its release date in a month. It was released 7/15/1981. Just about every song from that album I'd hear on the radio. Of course that was a time when New Wave was following on the heels of punk and the success of albums was not rooted in top 40 hits anymore since music was divided up into genres and played on the corresponding stations on FM. Here in California it was the very popular KROQ (rock of the 80's). By 1982 FM had around 70% of the general audience and 84% in the 12-24 demographic (where I fit in ) at that time. To me it's funny to always see the blue background on that album. It wasn't released that way. It originally had a pink/peach colored background but the girls didn't like it so it was changed. Not sure when. But if you're looking for an early pressing look for the pink/peach vinyl or CD pressing. Also at various times it's been in Rolling Stones Top 500 albums of all time or however they re-titled that category over the years.
  16. Can't forget that 4 guys are starting rehab assignments tomorrow. Reinforcements coming...Teel, Schultz, Shane Smith and McDougal. Good luck gentlemen !
  17. I just came here to see if anyone mentioned this too. I knew I had also heard that.
  18. Sox are going to pick up Kenley Jansen for cheap from the Tigers. You heard it here 1st .😜
  19. The love of a grateful nation !
  20. The White Sox are The BEAST ! 666 6 runs on 6 hits in the 6th inning !!
  21. 8 straight home series wins for 1st time since 2003 !
  22. What a lovely inning !💣🎆💣🎆💣🎆
  23. There is being a Sox fan and rooting for them to be no hit. If they get beat I sure as hell don't want them no hit. Why would you want that ? Just to say you witnessed baseball history ? Did you want the Sox to be historically bad too ? NO you did not. You hated it even when it was a rebuild and you're supposed to lose. I don't see any difference between those things. At least I could accept the rebuild losses knowing that there was some plan in place. I know that puts me in an isolated position because of the woe that has followed that season where people were so angry that they couldn't even acknowledge there was meaning behind it just like there was meaning in the rebuild that Hahn and KW orchestrated that everyone had unbridled enthusiasm for. The Sox skipped the 10-15 years of being "mired in medocrity" and went straight to bad enough to tear it all down again. If you look at it like that it's not that long to wait from 2024 to what this is now in 2026. Getz didn't start the rebuild by actually trying to contend and trading away what little prospects they had before he declared that rebuilding was the only way out like the Hahn/ KW era did. How that time period got so much support I have no idea. Lets screw it up for 10-15 years, trade the good prospects away, screw it up even more then tell JR we need to rebuild . Sure it looked like a successful rebuild until it suddenly collapsed because it had no foundation. JR will still JR and Hahn and KW still didnt know how to truly rebuild the rot because they were the rot. What's happening now is just a small victory. There's years to go before we will see how it all turns out but I like the idea of trying to emulate the Brewers and Rays without money while JR is still around so when the Ishbia money is there maybe there will be an actual team and front office with a knowledge of how to run a modern baseball franchise.
