White Sox fWar Leaders. Surprise Surprise ! I forgot if it was Zips or another projection system that projected Chase Meidroth to lead the team in fWar but theyre all pretty much the same so it could have been most or all of them. So if you put a lot of faith in those things that certainly didnt bode well for the upcoming 2026 season. Now there was also the actual 2025 win total (60) and the Pythagorean win total (70) . So on one hand you think if Chase Meidroth is the position player War leader there's probably not much hope of the Sox being much better than they were in 2025 .But that Py win total said they played like a 70 win team. So as a fan you look at how they performed the 2nd half of the seadon, then say no way Meidroth is the Sox War leader. They have Colson Montgomery. They have a Japanese superstar coming in. Once again models projected some regression for Colson and the skeptics trashed Murakami so much he ended up signing with the Sox , a near impossibility until it actually happened. Of course there were other things like playoff odds and percentages , power rankings, win total projections that, at most, predicted modest improvement that might avoid 100 losses . The safe bet was the usual tripe about record losses and a 4th consecutive 100 loss season. You were a sheep if you believed White Sox propaganda. You were a mindless drone trusting an organization that had proved unworthy. You were incapable of independent thought and if you were you'd come to the same conclusion as most of baseball that the Sox were going nowhere in 2026. The funny or ironic thing is if everyone is following all these projection models and predicting doom who exactly is the mindless drone, the one predicting what everyone is predicting or the one going against popular opinion ? Maybe Murakami can hit HRs . Maybe Colson Montgomery won't regress. Maybe the other young players who showed promise like Teel, Shane Smith, Quero, Baldwin could continue on the paths the took in 2025. There was also. plenty of talent in the minors edging closer to the big leagues especially in the starting pitching like Schultz , Smith and McDougal. Well Teel, Baldwin and Mike Vasil all suffered injuries .Shane Smith and Edgar Quero regressed badly. That's a substantial list of good young players hurt or not performing .Surely the season was doomed especially after a 1-5 start to the season. But a funny thing happened on the way to the depths of baseball hell. All the projection models and experts have been WRONG so far. Here are the current fWar leaders among White Sox position players. Colson Montgomery 2.1 Miguel Vargas 1.9 Munetaka Murakami 1.5 Tristan Peters .8 ( what ?) Chase Meidroth .7 It turns out that Chase Meidroth is still playing at a pace that the projecton models predicted. Except Colson Montgomery , Murakami and Vargas are doing extremely well. And it turns out the Tristan Peters , a guy they picked up for cash considerations or a PTBNL can outperform the injured (surprise !) Luis Robert Jr . who has a .2 fWar. Thank goodness baseball can still throw some nasty curveballs to the experts projection models ,oddsmakers and opinionated jags every so often . I'd be remiss if I didnt mention Davis Martin's extraordinary pitching so far. Have a nice day.

Im continuously surprised that the broadcast team is a thing to stick in anyones craw enough to overshadow such a glorious victory. At most he's a minor annoyance and there are ways to ignore him. Exactly. I dont think there's much of a need to start throwing high draft picks away. As much as Id like to say I told you so about the Sox being on the rise moreso than you'd think , we can't over react to all the good play and good vibes. I dont know if they can pick up a guy for practically nothing like they did with Adrian Houser last year but let's get to that phase and another 45 games before we start skewering the depth in the minors. Have to keep in mind that Mune may not be with the Sox in 2028 which means that they would have to trade him after this year . If you ate going to lose him you cant lose him for nothing or even a comp pick. This uptick may be short lived without a 40 HR lefty Japanese superstar bringing happy happy joy joy to us and JR too. So we may need Gonzales and Cholowsky and other picks from that draft and those players we get for Mune especially with our top young arms struggling and injured. Top position player prospects will always be worth more than top pitching prospects . Getz is playing the long game as he should. Keep on amassing talent and build a strong franchise. If they do that by the time Ishbia comes in this franchise could be the Midwest version of the Dodgers dominating the division and making the playoffs year after year over our weaker more impoverished division foes. I like that scenario a lot more than trying for quick fixes in a year that's unexpectedly good but not likely to produce a long playoff run . We don't want to end up like the Mets with the owner spending mindlessly ,playing catchup, looking for quick fixes. It's imperative that JR not be a part of any overexuberant hopes at the moment because playing the long game is the only way to go without him around to crush your dreams.

Or as long as they were eating all the money and throwing in a player he really didnt care all that much about it. At that point it was the best they could get and he knew to keep waiting on Robert to perform or stop getting injured was folly. I know lots of people were pissed because of his upside but he was like a comet, spectacularly there and then gone. I think Getz kept waiting on THAT Robert to reappear but his career was making a lot of people who believed in him look stupid.
