  1. I wouldn't but I'm just like that. But even though his GB and K rates are high, he's hitting the ball hard, taking walks and some of those hard hit GB are going through the infield. Plus he's getting to pitches on the outside half now much better than he was. Being on the safe side would be saying you expect him not to succeed right away. But just to clarify, how much time until you think he adjusts ? Right away seems like a very short period (like 1 day ) unless you define it as some reasonable length before you think "right away" will be over .
  2. Apparently the answer to the title question is TODAY !!!😮
  3. The voting for the upcoming home stand is about to take a leap! Its at 10% now. Before the All-Star break is at 19%. Technically right if true just not as pinpoint as this homestand. I was on record as saying some time in June. If this is true as it likely is.
  4. They could send Romo down unless he's out of options. But he was DFA'd earlier this year and wasn't claimed so I have no idea if they'd have to do it again or his options status changes. Michael Turner is 27 left handed and hitting very well (.337 BA & .988 OPS in 26 games) in Charlotte but would need a 40 man spot . Not sure of defense but the movement on pitches at the MLB level makes a lot guys with good defensive reputations in the minors look bad in the majors until they learn their pitchers.
  5. Kelenic, Lamont Wade, Jr. and Oliver Dunn are already gone and anyone else from the AAA roster beside top pitching prospects (maybe) could be moved also as could plenty of names from below AAA . Makes more sense to say all but perhaps 15 guys in the minors could be traded. Which 15 I could only guess at. Not sure who the biggest name on your list would be , maybe Gabe Davis or Boston Smith atm.
  6. It would take balls of steel to trade him this year but IF he is dead set on testing his value on the FA market it has to be considered given he's the biggest trade chip they have who isn't signed long term especially with the 2027 season in limbo. It surely would be a blow to this year and possible future years with him in tow. It's been so much fun having a guy the rest of baseball was so chicken to sign come here and be a sensation like some of the biggest names from Japan like Ichiro and Ohtani. He's that next level below them huge but multiple years of being among the HR leaders puts him right up there. Also the longer he's signed for the the more money that comes in. Just how much is hard to say but more than most American players bring in from other countries or big Japanese corporations who might not have been willing to commit short term but will jump on board for the long term. The Sox need to be exploring that already. Find out the sponsors for the other Japanese players and get busy. Ishbia might be a lot more astute than Jerry is at dealing with international corporations. I know he's said he'd like to stay but all Free Agents to be say that stuff. It would also depend on the return in trade . Would have to be big to soften the blow to the fan base. Maybe if Gonzalez hits 5 or 6 more HRs while Mune is out, replacing him might not hurt the team as much. I don't think it happens but they need to figure it out before they trade away Gonzalez , which I also think won't happen. He's already been a big part of keeping the team afloat offensively without Murakami.
  7. Don't like that idea either . Why give up minor league depth for someone who will be here at the longest 4 months (July through Oct , early trade and playoff run but likely just 2+ months ,August to the rest of the regular season or an early playoff exit). Unless you're giving up the excess 40 man ( Hays, Pereira, Hill, Acuna, Grichuk, Romo, Nishida, Benintendi, Fedde, Tyler Davis, Tyler Gilbert, Trevor Richards, Brandon Eisert, Jordan Hicks ) or extra relief pitchers types (Pallette, Schoenele, Peoples ) not on the 40. Sox actually have 48 on the 40 man roster but because 8 are on the 60 day DL they don't count but they can be traded. (Thorpe, Bush , Vasil, Leasure, Berroa, Baldwin, Teel, Tanner Murray). Or you could trade some triple A guys on the 40 like SP Joe Rock, Shane Smith, Chris Murphy , Tyler Schweitzer, Jonathan Cannon, Junior Perez, Wikelman Gonzalez. I don't know all the ins and out of trading injured minor leaguers since there are guys like Alexander Albertus who the Sox got from the Dodgers but was injured a long time after being acquired. I just named 32 guys (not counting Albertus). By August 1st I'm guessing at least 5 of them are no longer on the White Sox. Some of them like Teel or Shane Smith might be safe but others I didn't mention like Sandlin and Davitt may not be. But most are the guys who you could possibly move among those deemed near MLB ready and MLB players.
  8. Or not knowing jack s%*# about the 2026 White Sox training staff this is totally asinine and irresponsible.
  9. My Dad always said Johnny Mostil was a distant relative like his 3rd or 4th cousin which means he shared a great great or great great great grandparent. Or maybe was my grandfather or grandmother ( who had German lineage like Mostil) who shared that great great grandparent since someone had to tell my Dad that. Mostil was born and raised in the Chicago area 1896-1970. Very talented CF. Great defensive OF and in 1926 came in 2nd in MVP voting. Was once said while playing CF he caught a foul ball in a ST game.
  10. He's a nice guy but you really think he'll run that name by Sam ? Sam would probably be like " oookay , umm Why ?? "
  11. He's also got an opt out after next season too ,but the way he's pitching I doubt he could get more anywhere else even if he hates Houston. Signed for 3 yrs $54M but if he pitches 100innings this year he goes up to $21M in 2027 and 2028 . He's currently at 34.1 IP. Houston would probably love it if he opted out but they will probably just see if he can pitch better the rest of the year after he makes some adjustments and gets used to MLB. Imai has had trouble adjusting to the pitch clock and the difference in ball texture leading to lack of command. You try to get Houston to kick in $25 million but then they'd want a prospect. Taking on the whole salary isn't likely.
  12. Sox should use their own BP prospects. Ben Peoples should be called up. But it's his walk rate that's keeping him down. 5.8 BB per 9 and 11.2 K WHIP is still good though at 1.180 because he only gives up 4.9 hits per 9. 0.3 HR per 9. He turned 25 May 1st. Garrett Schoenle is 28 and he's put up 2 good seasons in a row at Birmingham last year and Charlotte this year. 2026 : 1.86 ERA , 1.190 WHIP 19.1 IP, 15 H, 17 K, 8 BB, 1HR . Maybe the Sox don't think his stuff is good enough . They just got Rule 5 draftee Peyton Pallette back from the Guardians. Had a good April but lost the strike zone and in May so they dumped him. He's pitched in 3 games for Charlotte without giving up a run 3.1 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 3 BB. It's always about command with pitchers. If they can call up Tyler Schweitzer they can call up Peoples or Schoenle. Pallette too but never called him up last year and didn't protect him in the Rule 5 so they didn't mind losing him.
  13. The Sox don't have a lot to show for smacking around Nola but pretty sure both teams are going to rack up runs today. Ump was lazy giving Nola strikes on the 3-0 to Vargas and then after that on the 1st pitch to Beni. The 5 rookies leading off last inning did great. After that Nola got some breaks from the ump .
  14. I was actually watching the Philly broadcast wondering who it was who never saw a Harry Potter movie or read a book. John Kruk maybe. Then neither one could come up with the word "Baton" for what an orchestra conductor waves around. Then the HR just launched me in maniacal laughter.
  15. In football everyone dances together right on the field after big plays even running to the endzone after the play is dead on interceptions and fumble recoveries . Hockey celebrates big goals on the ice with group hugs and the goal scorer at home throwing himself against the glass and skating along the bench for glove touches. Guys on the bench also bang their sticks on the boards after a good fight. Fun should be banned !!! No magic wands, no bat flips, no waves, no dugout HR costumes or Tridents, Welder Helmet, Samurai or Viking Helmets or other props !!
  16. What would you call lengthy ? I'm thinking once he starts playing ( he hit an oppo HR yesterday) it could be a week before he's back . The biggest hurdle was him not being ready to start the rehab assignment but that 's been cleared. Maybe he'll be ready for the road trip starting the 16th but I wouldn't rule out sometime during the upcoming home stand. Him and Hays both seem to get injured a lot and Pereira is out of options. The only reason to play Hays is to trade him if he can establish any ability to stay healthy and produce simultaneously. Might not be room for either of them with Grichuk and the switch hitting ability of Montgomery. The Sox could want to check out Hays and Pereira before they fully commit to Braden for the rest of the season. Lamonte Wade, Jr. who was hitting pretty well at AAA but was either released or had a June 1 option to chose Free Agency. He's with the Astro's now and had a pretty good game with a double and HR. AN All-Rookie OF of Antonacci, Peters and Braden Montgomery would be wild and fans would love it even if it's not as powerful as we'd like.
  17. I need @Autumn Dreamin to tell me what the Sox record is using an opener. Seems like it's good.
  18. What a great day to be a fan ! Gonzo showing the power he did in the minors. Keep it up !
  19. Did I violate the statute of limitations ? You're weird.
  20. First of all blah blah blah 🤣Go change another thread title to call another poster here a Hater . That wasn't about me. Your actions speak volumes about you . You can twist words and lie all you want but that one act describes exactly who and what you are. What a clown ! You indict yourself more than I ever could. Takes 2 to tango amigo and you want to lead every dance into destroying threads because you always need the last word. Abuse of power like that should get you kicked out from being an Admin and banned for a while. If it wasn't all that obvious to people before it is now.
  21. That happened last year and they seemed to get through it just fine. Culture isn't just how you get along. It's cultivating a way to be not only winners on the field but how to treat other people. Those things don't always go hand in hand. When you are a star, you want star treatment and egos get out of control . You start thinking you're above reproach and protected by your status. It's all about staying grounded and seeking advice and help when you struggle rather than lashing out or internalizing . Call it new age crap or the new White Sox way but it's just about proving that being nice doesn't translate to being a loser. But when the time comes you do have to have a killer instinct/competitiveness and have some animosity towards your opponent. If you still believe in the Leo Durocher philosophy from the 1940's about the nice guys being over there in 7th place then the culture talk will annoy any macho sensibilities you have and we're all soft !
