  1. I don't know.Nobody thought they get anything for Vaughn and they got a guy whos not useful for the future beyond this July most likely, but he is still of more value than Vaughn in helping preserve young arms and likely to fetch a minor prospect if he traded . If I have to keep hearing from angry fans because the Sox were historically bad then vets who play along with the youths to become a better than historically bad team should be tolerated for what little you can get for them. If one turns into a Tatis Jr. or even a guy who hits a PH GW HR in a playoff game in 2031 no one will complain. The Siths can't have it all their way continuously whining about the record then saying the record doesn't matter, just dump all the vets for the youth immediately. That's not how teams operate. I'd love to see Baldwin getting MLB AB right now too but do you honestly think waiting another month is going to screw up his whole career ? Most people are already penciling him in as a good super utility guy . He could be so much more than that but he won't be until he's seeing every day MLB AB for at least a good 400 ABs to see if he can make any advanced progress like he has in the minors. Hopefully that comes where the Sox have the most opportunities and that's in the OF.
  2. And spare me your angry tears that blind you so much that you can't see that my "that's over now" comment came in response to " having that worst team in the history of the sport" which I took to mean the 2024 season which is now over and a part of history as the writer said. And I will not spare you or anyone else my opinion which was pretty calm and courteous compared to your sarcastic response . As you said "go nuts" and I'll continue doing what I do. I am actually puzzled that you pretend that everything is the same as it was last year. There's much more positive things happening that you would expect on a developing team on a year to year basis starting at rock bottom. Getz didn't even manage to get his full nucleus of coaches in until this year . Yes,historically, you were generous that the franchise has been mediocre but it's possible if the sale to the Ishbia's holds up that you could be looking at a Renaissance era of White Sox baseball. Maybe everything isn't so bad if you don't let history cloud your judgement. And I'm sure it's of little consequence but they set the record for most losses but were not "the worst team in MLB history. This article placed them at 39th worst using advanced metrics and comparing them to league average. https://theanalyst.com/articles/2024-chicago-white-sox-worst-team-in-mlb-history Have a sunny day.
  3. Because Baldwin deserves every day ABs and it won't be at SS . It's going to be mostly in the OF where playing every day defensively is pretty important. Once Tauchman , Slater and Taylor are removed and Beni is back to DH , Baldwin should be in LF almost every day. You just can't stop playing the vets if you hope to trade them no matter how unlikely you think getting any type of good return is. Contributors to good teams come from unexpected places sometimes. If Baldwin is going to be a good player It doesn't make a difference if he gets his chance now or it starts sometime in July. I think it's great that after he got sent back down that he responded with going 3 for 3 with 2 HRs ,a triple and a walk in 4 ABs. He's not sulking that's for sure.
  4. That's over though. That's a pretty long cry. I know everyone makes a big deal about telling one another how to fan but I don't understand ultra negative fans. If you are that upset, that negative, that hurt and it's that deep that you have to write about it every day something just seems very wrong . Move on, do something else. How long are people going to carry on like this. Sports is always full of disappointment as fans. Best case scenario you move on and look forward and find hope where you can instead of crying about the terrible players that are inevitable in a rebuild. Baldwin could turn into a huge win for the organization but it won't happen over night. So could the Montgomery's. Odds are less than even that all 3 have even 1 All Star season but why should I let that stop me from saying there's also a chance for a much better outcome too. You know once things turn around you'll be still here talking about playoff matchups as if none of this ever occured.
  5. Brookes performance in a short period of time really is amazing. It makes you think that if he can find a way to play competently in the OF that he could be a starter there and a good one , not just a super utility guy. Makes no sense classifying him as anything specific yet if he can translate those minor league hitting skills to the majors. I hope he's in the OF every day after they trade off the veterans. Baldwin turning into more than expected would be a huge win for the organization and mean even more if the Montgomery's also turn out well. That's hoping for a lot but it's better than crying about the lineup every day. These guys will get their chances. Just have to be patient.
  6. You do realize that he's in estate planning phase of his life now right ? That means making sure his kids sell the Sox and keep the Bulls and continue investing in the 1901 Project with the Blackhawks. Why do you talk about him as if this was 25-30 years ago ? There is nothing in Reinsdorf's future plans that include him or his kids investing more than the bare minimum in the Sox.
  7. Dont know why you bother. Just let his posts wither and die. He somehow doesn't comprehend that while rebuilding you will have many bad players that will be released all the time that no one else wants . It's like seeing the sun go down and screaming ,"we are all going to freeze to death, we're doomed !! " every day when its a natural occurrence. Chicken little syndrome.
  8. Eww ! That must not smell good at all .
  9. I think more young Sox fan rock 'n'rollers including me wanted to see the Sox back then for a great price so me , one of my brothers and Dad went. Less people want to go to a Pope themed mass in a ballpark. Ptatc said there was 20K there. Disco Demolition estimates vary. It was SRO and lots of people were turned away . Maybe more than 60K showed up. Plus it was highly advertised on WLUP the rock station promoting it. The Mass was a lot more low key.
  10. I like Elko because he seems like a good guy who has been making the most of his talent and had the reputation of a gamer which translates to leader. He's been successful at all levels. I know MLB is best in the world and Elko may not ever succeed there even if given a bigger chance which is hard to come by with his pedigree. Enjoyment of games is not based purely on winning or losing in the current state of the franchise. As a fan I try to imagine sitting next to his family in the stands. I wouldn't be yelling "Elko you suck" like some crazed maniac who discards people's feelings just because I paid for a ticket and think I now have the right to be a dick . I saw a video recently of a Sox fan in Houston who pushed a guy after he had a drink poured on top of his head from behind. He then got viciously punched in the face by another Astros fan. I have no idea what led to all that but some fans are assholes and just wearing an opposing teams uniform sets them off. I went to Sox game in Dodger stadium with my Dad and 2 kids when they were all visiting me at the same time. Very rare occurrence since my Dad lived in Oak Lawn and me in So Cal and my kids took a Greyhound from AZ. to see me since they lived with their mother. We weren't loud or on obnoxious just 3 generations of a family enjoying baseball. I may have had a Sox hat on. Probably in my mid 40s at the time .Some assholes sitting about 5 rows behind me threw peanuts at the back of my head a couple of times. What am I supposed to do surrounded by Dodgers fans with 2 children who were tweens and my Dad who was probably in his late 60s at the time? It gives you a greater appreciation of how to act as a fan. It doesn't matter if it's a game thread or at a game. So brave of those 2 young adult males to get a kick out of trying to provoke me into a confrontation when it was apparent it was a family outing. This is why fans piss me off a lot more than players.
  11. He was at a career high for pitches. He wasn't coming back in or he was lol.
  12. Ha well damn turn your back for a day there's someone new playing 1st base. Ryan Noda acquisition thread is next on the reading list .
  13. Once the avalanche starts you can't stop it. Fans don't develop hitters, they say they stink . There's always pushback when fans pick out a likable young man to root for against the odds of his pedigree . It's much easier to be right saying someone sucks than to be kind and have a little patience.
  14. He knows they aren't going anywhere and he's keeping guys fresher. Getting guys experience pinch hitting, pinch running and playing different positions . The position players outside of the older position player guys like Tauchman,Slater and Rojas have mostly stayed healthy.
  15. No storybook return today for Baldwin 😟
  16. Boring Baldwin.Ho hum another Home Run
  17. Ever since the new Pope the Sox has had a decent amount of good news. Winston Salem Dash led off the game with B2B2B HRs by Antonacci ( draft pick playing very well recently back from injury) ,Jeral Perez ( came with Vargas in the Fedde/Kopech trade who leads the league in RBI and 2nd in HR with 12) and Braden Montgomery who many considered the top piece in the Crochet trade.
