  1. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) I like the Q-Puig swap idea. I don't understand why anyone wants to trade Q with Samardzija also leaving That hurts the staff big time.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) I don't know. I'm not guessing that teams are lining up to take some of the Rockies hitters and their salaries. Bmags was right on. A few years ago, Cargo/Tulo were primetime players...now, you're looking at being on the wrong end of some of these contracts. I'd take the gamble with Cargo. Not so much with Tulowitzki. Exactly even if a big time trade goes down the Sox aren' t going to take on a lot of salary. That's why Puig is ideal .
  3. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Oh if we could package Shark for Puig I'd love it. Issue is Puig is cost controlled. Shark is a rental. Doesn't match up. Matches up with other pieces involved. Weren't we talking about a blockbuster ?
  4. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) It's me connecting the dots. I know for a fact KW is itching. On rundown today Phil Rogers mentioned COL and CWS as a match for maybe Tulo or CarGo and threw out Tim andersons name. Now all the Q talk is coming out after we won. I don't think there's any way they move Q . And even trading Shark now especially right before his next start tomorrow in the middle of a streak would devastate the team moral I think. This is going right down to the wire. I think its possible to match up with the Dodgers. Maybe Shark , Eric Johnson and others for Puig. It would generate huge buzz around the Sox and their fanbase. Edit: Ok my bad Have to keep Johnson to replace Shark . But I still think IF there's a trade and who the hell knows at this point it could be a big deal with lots of moving pieces but not Q . Losing Shark and Q would be a huge loss.
  5. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) Funny that were on a roll now we're being talked about as blockbuster deal for a bat. Really ? Where you hearing that ? I've suggested a deal could be a blockbuster.
  6. Puig now available for the right deal according to Nightengale on Twitter Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 48m48 minutes ago The #Dodgers have let teams know that Yasiel Puig is available in the right deal, but teams showing much more interest in their prospects.
  7. Dodgers saying Puig available for right deal per Nightengale.
  8. Wild and crazy game .Now the big 3 of the staff starting with Samardzija tomorrow. 9 extra base hits 7 doubles 2 triples. 6 guys in the lineup with 2 or more hits. Didn't miss LaRoche at all.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) Why are we paying Robertson this much money again? It's almost like he forgot he was once successful with the Yankees against the Red Sox. Yikes. He got the job done. All that matters.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) What are you talking about? The Sanchez play? He went all out there No he's talking about letting the guys on 1st advance to 2nd base uncontested . Not recorded as a steal but defensive indifference.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 07:43 PM) Or deal him before you have to non-tender him in a few years Hey hey hey ! Uncalled for !
  12. Flowers is the plant . I am Groot !
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) FWIW, my final score prediction was 10-8 Boston. Unless either team explodes for a huge inning, I'd be close. Not close unless you get the winning team right and you had better not
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) A lot of bullpens are nails in this run-scoring environment. I find ours to be fairly middling. Good at home bad on the road.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) Who was the poster who went on and on about acquiring Brock Holt and Daniel Nava the last couple of seasons? Me for Holt but never Nava.
  16. Time for someone to hit a HR this inning.
  17. That looked like a Conor throw.
  18. Probably will get LaRoche in there now
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) I'm so happy to see Rodon and Sanchez out there leading the charge today. If the Sox are going to have a sustained run of success it would behoove them to find another good starter and a solid starting 2B -- looks like that could happen. Sanchez has almost battled back to replacement level after that brutal start. I still think he's a 1 to 2.5 WAR player long term and IMO they need to bring Micah up, let him DH, and try and apprentice Sanchez the best he can while getting a start once a week at 2B. As for Rodon, obvious he didn't have close to his best stuff but what he did have was decent command on all three of his pitches. Hey, you don't have to throw 97, it helps, but you can certainly be effective without it, especially as a lefty. Hell, look no further than Q. _____________________ Exciting times and that's all you can ask for as a fan. Season is still a disapointment to this point and probably will be in the end -- but at least they are showing some signs. Avi and Laroche are problems but at least they only have 2 holes instead of 4-5 currently. Avi you let get his 600 PA and then another 600 next year and see what happens but Laroche needs to be benched. The Sox never admit sunk costs tho. Another arm chair GM suggestion is to bring up Thompson and let him split time in RF with Avi, where Avi gets to DH some and Laroche is moved to the bench. Jose seems to be playing a decent 1B anyways. I'm on board with the sunk costs and Avi things you said. Carrying dead weight in sunk costs like LaRoche and trotting him out there every day against all pitching is a huge problem especially in the middle of the order. That hole/roster spot has to be filled with a good player not some stiff because management made a big mistake. They only compound it be playing him to get their money's worth from him when a competitive team will likely create revenue they won't get playing the high salaried stiff. Unfortunately wanting a winning team with Avi trying to figure things out is also a problem . As much as he need's AB's his play hurts the team almost as much as LaRoche but he needs to figure out things fast . If he can't he won't be a part of a winning team here.
