  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Somewhat better maybe, but not significantly so. Despite a much thicker build, Bosh is just about as productive down low. Bosh gets 10 or 11 boards per 40 minutes and 5.5 to 6 attempts at the rim per game at about a 63% clip. Boozer is at 12 or 13/40 and 6.5/66 or so playing with a much better PG. Plus Bosh is a lot more effective away from the basket because he can drive as well as shoot. Either way, matching up with someone like LA would still be a major issue, as Utah found out last year. Keep in mind though, as you stated they play a lot of pick and pop in Utah with Williams and Boozer. I agree Bosh is more effective away from the basket, but even when he attempts at the basket, as a defender, you don't exert as much energy defending him as he's a twig. And when he is shooting jumpers, you waste very little energy. Basically, you don't make your defender work at all. To an offensive player like a Boozer, that's so much better, because he can waste all his energy punishing you in the post.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) lol. what the hell? When he comes back, he always says he's healthy, then actually shows he isn't, it takes him about 3 months to get in a groove, then when he finally does, he gets injured again with something small, but nagging. By the time the Finals hit, he's hurt again. Honestly, LA should shut him down from all basketball activity until February, have him only practice with the team until the Finals and then go.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Whenever I have no rooting interest in the playoffs, I can usually pick the team that will eventually win it. I've had a feeling about the Giants since the postseason started, so I'm sticking with them. Having said that, I don't care which one of these teams wins it. The only player on either team that I dislike is Hamilton (I don't care about his drug problem, the guy's a hero because he did heroin while guy's who never touched drugs in their lives aren't worth mentioning). Plus he strikes me as a guy who still drinks and does that stuff. Maybe not heroin, but I do remember pictures of him leaking taking shots off of women at a bar when he was claiming straight edge and his shirt was off and all. I think he's one of the biggest phonies out there.
  4. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) Boozer isn't exactly a beast defensively either and gets a lot of his points on the pick and roll. They'd still have a lot of the same issues. Boozer isn't a beast defensively, but he is a damn good rebounder and can bang. Boozer also can score in a variety of ways. Pick and pop, high post and low post. Offensively is where he excels. Help defense sucks and man defense is mediocre. He can wear you down though offensively and move some bodies. That's why Pax targeted Boozer and was always hoping to match him up with LeBron and Wade. Bosh was moreso a secondary option.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Isn't Dallas a top 5 ranked offense? They're tied with 3 other teams for 14th in PPG which means they are mediocre. Their total offense is top 5 as well as their passing offense. The thing is, they usually sputter out when getting into scoring position. Their running game is non-existant.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) there is absolutely 0 inside presence on this heat team offensively Bosh? I kid, I kid. That is going to be the weakness of Miami. Their inside presence. They have old people who are no longer good, have undersized people, or underweight people. Bosh is a stick. He'll still provide good output from PF, but at the same time, most good/great PF's will eat him alive. Miami really should've gone after Boozer(I know he's injured now) to provide a bulldozer downlow. Then they could get away with a crusty C and they would be fine. Either way though, I'm still putting the house on Miami winning the championship until Bynum is completely healthy and shows it in the Finals.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) How is this different than what ND is doing now? 8 easy games might be a stretch, but most years they can get to 6 wins pretty easily. Navy, Army, Purdue, western/central/eastern whoever, etc. Disagreed. Army and Navy are easy. Eastern, Western, etc. are usually two gimme's. But they schedule teams like Michigan, USC, Purdue, Michigan State, etc. I'd say more than half their schedule is pretty decent. Now they don't schedule #1 ranked teams every year, but they usually have a top 5 team, a few top 25's, and fill out their schedule. I'd say only about 4 games all year are pretty easy ones.
  8. Cowher will only coach a storied franchise just like Shannahan wanted to wait on the Bears last year. With that said, Wade will be out of a job, but honestly, Jason Garrett needs to follow him. How is he the highest paid coordinator and have a terrible offense? He definitely has the WR's, TE, QB, and a decent enough line to get the job done. I'd honestly love to have Mike Martz. Also, I don't like what I see from Marion Barber. I want Felix to start and be the featured back.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) Because he has a cement glove and can't catch a cold?? That means he'll never be sick which means he won't need a day off! Them re-signing Casto can only be bad. Either they're resigning AJ as the starter, or Castro will be the starter.
  10. Another game that people want to blame the coaching, but it should be directed at the GM. Again, you can't run any type of system without an offensive line. I don't care who the coordinator is.
  11. Want the Giants to win, but I think Texas takes it.
  12. Guys I consider elite: Cliff Lee Doc Halladay Felix Hernandez CC Sabathia Jon Lester
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) Perhaps I was wrong about Lincecum. He's pissing all over himself. This is the Lincecum I expected in Game 1 of the NLDS. In my honest opinion, he's a tier below the elite. Same way Ubaldo Jimenez.
  14. John Danks for a bag of balls.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Looking at the last year in a vacuum Angelo has been nearly a complete bust. The criticism of the Cutler trade that was valid was in how much he gave up for him. That wasn't really the problem... so they lost a first and second that year and a first the next. He had enough picks to do something with. He needed to find at least one WR (Johnny Knox, hi, I am a rare non-mistake) and like 3 or 4 linemen (he didn't even try). This FTW! Angelo has had a couple of holes that have been known to everyone - fans, coaches, you name it. Yet, Angelo half-butted one of those holes(WR), and tried to obtain more DL when there was no need for them at all.
  16. Alexeiiiiiiiiiiii.....YESSSSSSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSSS[/hawk] Probably one of the most underrated players in the game. No one ever talks about him. Sadly, he probably won't end up with the GG.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Nelson Cruz pulled with Tightness in his left hamstring. He's hit the DL 3 times this year with hamstring issues. They need to hire some PHX Suns trainers.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Reinsdorf cried broke...and about a month and a half later wound up with VDN. Yeah. D'Antoni wanted the job. Paxson even wanted D'Antoni and it was pretty much set. D'Antoni had to get through JR though who makes final approval on hirings, and JR played his games. D'Antoni didn't think JR wanted him, therefore just jumped on the Knicks offer before they moved onto someone else. Thibs wanted to be interviewed and I think he may have been, but the Bulls never saw him as a serious candidate. Dwayne Casey was the other hire it came down to. JR literally went for bottom of the barrel. I will say though, I think Casey deserves another shot somewhere. I also think VDN can be good too, but we shall see.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Yeah but he's has history of being an extremely hard worker. The guy couldnt handle the ball to save his life coming out of HS and worked his way to being a pretty dominant PG at the college level albeit out of position for him. I still dont think he's a 2 in the NBA, I think hes a solid 3 with the ability to handle the rock. Agreed on that. Honestly, I think he'll end up being Andre Iguodala with maybe a bit better jumper. They need to move Iguodala though.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I do too, and it sucks big time. Haven't watched all season. Agreed with whoever said ever since they left Agrestic it got pretty bad. I haven't heard anyone say anything good about this season either. Not one good thing.
  21. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/mia...tory?id=5707475 Every time this man talks I dislike him more and more. He should of known this hate would have come with a move to Miami, and if he didn't maybe he should have gotten a PR guy that did. My 2 cents. Whenever you make a ton of people mad, there are going to be those who sadly use racial slurs against that person. In this case, it's LeBron. It isn't right, nor do I okay it, but it also doesn't mean these people hate him because they're racist. Rather, it's the best thing they can think of as an insult. It's like when a deragatory gay term is used to degrate someone. They may not be homophobic, but they use it. I also thought he said he wasn't going to listen to his critics, but yet he admits that he reads all the hate and uses it for motivation. So which one is it? With that said, I still want LeBron to flat out say he's going against MJ too. Because he keeps saying he's taking notes, but no one is man enough to ask him if he's written Michael's name on the list. Last, but not least, it will never end the way LeBron wants it to. When it is all said and done, people will find something to discredit him. To make him seem lesser. And whether or not, he feels it's true, doesn't matter. Because becoming legendary comes from the outside perspective, not within. So he's always going to be chasing people's satisfaction, but he will never obtain it. Because he chose to hop on someone else's bandwagon. He said he couldn't do it himself by his actions. It's one thing to leave for a better team, another to leave for an all-superstar team where you can take nights off and not worry because you're still going to have two other all-stars who will bail you out.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 07:40 AM) Jacksonville has to be up there, then you can go to the next tier and run into teams like Frisco, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, Denver, you could also make a case for Minnesota, Washington. Eh, I don't think so. From a GM standpoint, the Bears are only behind the Raiders and the Bills who both have no direction. Frisco actually is pretty good at assembling talent, and they should be a really good team this year. Alex Smith isn't working out though and neither are their offensive coordinators. Seattle has pretty decent direction. It's still too early to tell on TB. Cleveland has Holmgren who knows what he's doing. Cincy has decent direction, I think it's moreso Marvin Lewis. Carolina you can make an argument for. Dallas is another team that needs to fire it's coaches(plural for a reason). Detroit seems to finally be moving in the right direction, they're just such a mess, it's not going to be overnight. Denver is too early to tell.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Well, not exactly...part of the VDN hire was also that no one else wanted the job. Not true. D'Antoni wanted the job. Doug Collins, Thibodeau. Everyone wanted the job to be honest.
  24. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Mike Quade is there to take his lumps for a couple of years while the team is bad and cutting payroll and go from there. The Cards and Reds will make that division tougher than it has been and who knows about the Brewers, Astros and Pira....well we know the pirates are going to suck. Pretty much. It's like the Bulls hiring VDN as a lameduck coach. They had no intention of keeping him beyond his contract. Only difference is the Cubs have no Derrick Rose coming up. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) The Question is: Would some of the Anti-Ozzie people on this site be willing to take on Ryno as the next Sox skipper? No. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Not if he's addicted to small ball like he's been in the minors. Quade was a solid hire for the Cubs. The players like him, and he's great at putting out well-constructed lineups. And this is why.
  25. Angelo is inept. Why sign Grant, not play him, then release him two weeks later. DUMBBBBBB. They need to try out lineman. Even ones off the street.
