6/11 Games
Damn didn’t realize he hit two. This is what I mean with it being a weird season. We have these older prospects playing insane, and we don’t know what to make of it. Really is amazing that Every team that Jirschele manages ends up the best in the org. He was the last to have a good Kanny team too. We all laughed at how bad that Bham roster was, they are 10 games over or something. Crazy

Dickman: That's Danny Mendick
Fun thing about mendick was he joined a lot of our radars when he made Fangraphs Carson Cistullis “fringe 5”, which basically looked for low rated prospects whose production indicated a big league future. Mendick was always impressive for his resiliency in the minors to me, felt like whenever he fell back offensively he’d fight like hell for a few weeks and get back to respectable quickly. Cheers to an incredible accomplishment

2021 MLB Draft Thread
Is it just me or are there a lotta big boys this draft? I feel like in 2030 there will be some 6'2 second baseman we are all calling a nick madrigal type because the rest of the players will be 6'6 or taller.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
bringing back hellthread to say illinois has reopened, chicago has reopened, we have declined to the point that we are seeing only a 1% positive rate and sub 500 cases a day, and vaccinations 7-day average has actually been increasing. And if that's not good enough, it's been awesome that now when I go to unload the dishwasher I just need to put my hand near the silverware tray and all the utensils fly to my hand.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
Ha, I know, and it's been years of that. They are this terrible offense that can't scrape three runs together vs. baltimore than faces us and puts up 8 spots.

In defense of bruce, this article is actually just a summary of Hahn's press conference and who knows who wrote the headline.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
Same, followed on phone notifications. Glad to hear Keuchel came back. For a team that didn't K much, blue jays really struggled against our staff. We have a damn good pitching staff, and while I'm a little worried about fades from Cease/Rodon, having guys like Giolito, Keuchel, Lynn makes me feel a lot more confident than other teams would be with their staffs that have been on training wheels for most of their careers.

Market/Financial Thread
Yes, though it would be nice if the answer was just UI phaseout. It should be boomtimes for teen employment though, we'll see if it can get back to previous levels. I would imagine chains are going to have an easier time here, with more established and consistent training, than the type of employee available that led fine dining to thrive in 2010s. The pandemic created a massive distortion with some industries going into hibernation while others were doing better than expected. The millions that lost jobs in those industries moved to different industries, moved to different locations. Hiring is hard, it's going to take those companies time to figure out how to reach the new recruits. There isn't going to be a magic wage or unemployment trick, there was a massive restructuring happening at a rapid pace. Which to me is still so much better than the alternative, but there is going to be some growing pains here. This is uncharted territory, really.

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
one of my least favorite players in baseball.

6/10/21 Games
Having a meh season despite being closer in age to where he should, but Sosa has had 3 HRs so far in W-S, so a bit more power this year.

Hell yes. Ramos seems to have been turning it around a bit.

Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
Anyone who has watched this team play their asses off and find a way and be a blast almost every night saying "this season is cursed and not meant to be" lmao

Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
I can't believe every single time it has been worst case scenario. Have these dudes ever stretched? Madrigals hamstring is like 4 inches long, how does it tear?

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
Absolutely and I've been amazed. And maybe it has felt more razor thin than it has been, but we've gotten a lot out of the backups so far, and I'm just worried it will add two black holes to the lineup and what that means. But the sox have done excellent in free agency this year and on the margins, areas where they have been horrendous prior. I'm here for the ride, but acquisitions are totally fun so I'll probably lean in that direction.

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
To date the sox have been right in being conservative in additions. So I'd get it if they did it again. But obviously I would enjoy an upgrade, this team is too good to take chances on a few too many injuries depriving us of the post season.

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
I think of teams that are woeful and would trade to a partner now, and are willing trade partners, you'd have to circle the AZ diamondbacks as others have done. The obvious player is obvious. Ketel Marte can play a great centerfield, can play SS and 2b. The obvious player is expensive - even with his upcoming FA. We are at a rough spot for acquiring position players. Not sure how sox could pull that off, but he is an absolute no brainer for getting through the year if you are someone that can isolate how much value he's probably getting back. edit: uhhh and I had no idea he's under team control through '24 so up that price by a ...large amount.

Beckham?

Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
True but you have to factor in how every sox player needs to re-tear it when they are about two weeks from coming back.

6.9 games
I don't know, it's weird. There are a lot of older prospects doing really, really well right now especially in birmingham. Normally that would be inconsequential, but because of last year who knows how teams think of age. We'll know more if any of these guys hold any interest at the deadline. If you are a rebuilding team with roster space in the next few years...what do you make of craig dedelow? Rutherford? Romy? Forbes? Not earthshattering returns but if they've played themselves into fodder for MRP and flex starters that's currency we didn't have. Our high level acquisition currency has really been hurt by the guys we hoped would play into attractive roles struggling. But we also haven't followed young prospects really. Some are still finding power strokes and guys like Jose Rodriguez have held their own. I'd look at guys like Nick Prado, who was absolute garbage offensively his first two years post-draft, and now is absolutely raking in AA. It's much different than when we followed a bunch of college prospects who dominated until they got to A+ and slowly got worse.
