QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Meh, its not even as memorable as him getting the s*** knocked out of him vs NYC. Maybe not to Bears fans but nationally it certainly is.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) You wanna talk about the perfect situation for that guy? Belicheck don't take no s*** and he's got years to learn from Brady. IMO, he's in a better situation than Rodgers was in GB. And I fully expect him to be a damn good NFL QB one day if he gets his head on straight. Absolutely and that kid is oozing talent. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the best qb in this class.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 04:06 AM) Then Stewart's in a lot of trouble, he only consistently throws 2 pitches. If they're Contreras or Verlander type stuff, you can get away with it. And Sale's slider is good enough with that fastball because of the speed differential. Still, he does need to add a 3rd pitch he can throw 10-15% of the time...that could make him truly special as a starter, if his arm/shoulder/elbow and mechanics hold up with that bean-pole frame over a 162 game season. Of course, a lot of people doubted Gio Gonzalez had the ability to be a starter when we drafted it and POOF!, look how far he came from draft day to now. Sale has a solid change.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) My mom started crying when my parents dropped me off at SIU for the first time. I was like, "What the hell is wrong with you?" Wasn't expecting it. My parents held it together pretty well when they dropped me off but the 3 calls a day thing got pretty annoying during the first few weeks.

The Toronto Cheat Jays?
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) That's surprising to me. I don't doubt what you say, I just didn't think Thornton had that type of personality. I thought he was kind of a p****. I just really didn't know that Thornton had a personality.

2011 Soccer Season
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Having Jurgen as coach really has changed my entire outlook on the US team. I just actually have confidence that we have a coach who knows what talent is and understands the game. I take it the team looked good tonight than? I have it dvr'd but haven't had a chance to watch it yet, obviously it's insanely early but I'm intrigued to hear/see how they did.

2011 Films Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) It's called Superheroes. It's not about comic ones but actual people that patrol streets in superhero costumes. Quite fascinating. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Was it about these guys I swear, I read that hole thing half expecting it to end with "none of this really happened" but really wanting it to be true. My obvious reactions (as was predicted in the article) was why don't they just become cops. But yeah, really cool story (again, if it's along the same lines, haven't seen the documentary). KICK ASS

Ya, bunting would have been a bad idea there, Ozzie did the right thing by letting him swing away.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) TBS has canceled Lopez Tonight, ratings tanked after being moved back an hour to make room for Conan. Conan isn't even drawing 800k viewers a night. Conan has been damn good too. Surprised that the ratings have been that awful.

Sox/Danks have talked numbers but "nothing too serious"
QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) Unless this team makes the playoffs, it was definitely a mistake. If we're looking at it in hindsight then sure, it was a mistake if we don't at least make the playoffs. But when you're "all in" to start the season, you want your best players up here and Sale being in the pen was the best move for the 2011 Chicago White Sox.

Brent Morel
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) He hit 16 in 2009, and 13 in 2010. I think he is completely capable of hitting 15 HR. 20 may be his max. This I know but I really can't see his swing translating to anything more than 15 hr's in the Majors. Hope I'm wrong.

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
And here I am, once again staying up late to check what the Tigers are doing. I hate that the Sox are pretending to try and win baseball games again.
-
Brent Morel
I highly, highly doubt Morel will ever hit more than 15 hrs in a season and that might even be stretching it.

One I don't remember doing...
For the shows you guys mentioned, did you start watching them from the beginning or Netflix/dvd them? For both Lost and Scrubs, I don't think I started to watch until about the 4th season so I completely caught up on Lost through dvd and Netflix while Scrubs was pretty much all through syndication.

One I don't remember doing...
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) I haven't watched any of them again honestly. Contrast that with the ending of Lost where in a series that really centered around questions, you got an ending that felt like an ending, even with having some things left to answer. As much as I loved Lost, I freakin despised the ending.

Sox/Danks have talked numbers but "nothing too serious"
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Which is why putting sale in the bullpen this year was a mistake, but were past that now. If we don't need a closer, then we need to try to get him back to 150 innings next year. No it wasn't. Sale needs to be a starter next year though.

8/9 Gamethread Sox vs Baltimore
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) How could you possibly complain about Ozzie tonight? What's wrong with Sale facing two guys, then Sergio one? Sale has been pretty f***ing good and Sergio is amazing. Here we finally have a good manager and you guys want to run him out of town and begin the merry go round of managers again. I don't get it. Get rid of Kenny? Yes. Ozzie, no. Just make sure the next GM has total control over the ML roster, not Ozzie. Kudos to Sale and Sergio And from the box score it looks like Ohman and Frasor did OK but Frasor apparently walked a guy. And it looks like Morel is getting better. Keep the home runs coming, White Sox. We need them. It's our ONLY offensive victory formula to go with pitching. If we can hit a ton of homers the next two months we can get back in the race. If not, we'll be doomed to oblivion. Well first and foremost, I can't f***in stand Ozzie and to say he's a good manager at this point is pretty ridiculous. But anyways, I'm not even mad at the way he's handling Sale and Santos right now because to be perfectly honest, it just doesn't matter. Those two are just so damn good right now, it just doesn't matter what spots you put them in. That being said, it's some of the strangest managing I can remember seeing, it really makes no freakin sense.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
Sale and Santos=lights out!
