  1. No QB out of college is ever a sure thing but imo Luck has a chance to be one of the more special qb's since Peyton Manning. I think he's that good.
  2. I'm usually pretty quiet at games I go to for teams I actually care about because I'm nervous the whole time. True story.
  3. I'm actually kind of surprised that Brett Favre and LeBron James haven't been mentioned yet(obviously LeBron is a big dude but you're allowed to cheat so why not). There's a lot of athletes I'd like to get a few shots in on, too many to list.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) I think this is actually a pretty solid QB class. Luck is the obvious #1, but Gabbert, Mallett, Newton, and arguably even Pryor too if he were to come out (he's supposedly going back, but I'll believe that when I see it), and I can certainly see one or two of those guys being top 5-7 players come late April. I agree and not sure if you did it intentionally but you left out Locker as well, even though he hasn't exactly had the most impressive career so far, he's got a ton of upside. I'm usually a really tough critic on qb's coming out of college but I like the potential of this class a lot.
  5. The Carl Pavano loss is a gigantic one for them. I would never be dumb enough to count the Twins out of anything but their roster isn't as good as ours, it's just not.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) Yippee, I guess Christoperson's a game time decision tonight. That would give ISU 6 scholarship players for tonight and just 9 available overall. NIU might have a chance. Eh, you and I could beat that NIU team 2 on 5.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) I'm probably going to sell my bands and weights at some point since I think P90X has run its course with me. I am really in love with my local gym that does very similar functional strength programs. Ya, I'm pretty much the same way. I still do the ab ripper on core days but that's about it, definitely addicted to my gym. And I was very surprised that the holidays didn't kick my ass. I ate like s*** for most of the Christmas week but still got my work outs in and actually lost some more weight somehow. Down to 180, making it an even 50 pounds I've lost since last year. Not bad.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Beltre's probably at least a 5 WAR player if he plays in Texas and stays healthy. I'd say the contract is worth it. Is he though? I actually like Beltre a lot and obviously his defense is always elite but he's been the definition of a contract year player with the bat.
  9. On paper the Twins aren't even in our league. Doesn't mean we're a lock for anything because we certainly aren't but we're definitely the paper champions of this division. And yes, adding Adam Dunn over Mark f***in Kotsay is a huge upgrade and I couldn't care less that we have no "proven" closer, our closer was hot garbage last season and there's no way that our committee or Sale or Matt or whoever is going to be worse.
  10. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) "blown away" was hyperbolic....should have said that if IL had shot a more typical 40ish% from 3 that Iowa definitely would have won. IL seems like a very 1-dimensional jump-shooty team. Of course, if they give Wisconsin a game I'll have to revise my opinion.... Well there ya go.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Certainly respected more than Boise...but the funny thing is most people across the country seemed to think Boise was the better team this year prior to the loss to Nevada. I also caught a lot of flack for pointing out that TCU had some decent NFL prospects on their defense, only to have people point out after the victory that TCU spends a lot and recruits well in Texas. Then I pointed out that Nevada-Reno, the team that beat Boise, had a top 5 offense in college football, only to be told that that is nonsense because they play in the Mountain West conference, but then an argument for TCU's legitimacy over Boise was that TCU played in the Mountain West conference. Just pointing out a bit of the hypocrisy around here over the last month or so.... And they might be to be honest. And yes, if TCU lost it would have proven that the little guys can't play with the bigger programs but since they didn't, they're in a different class than Boise. That's how this works apparently.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) I think the Bulls are hungover... I think they're bored to be honest. They've played so many s***ty teams lately that I just don't think they're up for some of these games right now.
  13. There were definitely some people saying TCU and Boise couldn't play with some of the better teams in the country, so lets not say that didn't happen. Happy to see TCU win and yes they could play with Oregon or Auburn but unfortunately we'll never know.
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) oh man, it's getting worse for Rex Ryan! Yuck. Warning next time asshole
  15. Get a real f***in job.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) Salukis beat Northern Iowa. Thank you. With out one of our only real players too. God the Valley is awful.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) The Bulls will beat the Knicks in the playoffs. That uptempo style won't work if the Bulls play a playoff style of basketball. As long as both Noah and Boozer are healthy we'd handle the Knicks quite easily imo. 5 or 6 games.
  18. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) An honest assessment is that the Bulls have no chance against Miami or Boston (unless injuries deplete the Celtics). The Bulls aren't even as good as the Knicks right now, so it would a be a delusion of grandeur to think they could take a series from one of the top 3 teams in the East (one of which being possibly the most talented team to play in the NBA ever). I feel like I've been arguing the same thing over and over again in this thread so all I'm going to say is that's not a honest assessment at all.
  19. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) Boozer and Noah both played in the OKC and LA games. And they won both of those games...
  20. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) I don't know, it almost sounds like a challenge to Rowand44 to drink one of each New Year's Eve if you do that. We don't want to kill him. Maybe if you or Steve actually leave your house on NYE and buy me a few with the millions of dollars you guys make. On topic though, I've only tried like 4 of these so far, I have a lot of work to do apparently. And I assume Keystone is going to be number 1?
  21. Couldn't Bobby just take Oney with him to Boston? Both of these assholes need to shut up and go away.
  22. I know anything can happen in the playoffs and yada yada yada but there's 0 chance that the NFC West winner beats the Saints, not happening.
  23. Well Gage is kind of right because the Bears are going to get either the Eagles or the Saints, they're just not playing each other.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Who was that clamoring about no-look passes for Derrick Rose??? I'm intrigued what his apg is since Boozer came back. Amazing what happens when he has someone to pass to.
