QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) what the fork ever happened to andy gonzalez Gonzo moved to Second at the break to make room for Pedro Lopez last year he hit .275 with 4 homers and played better Defense at 2nd than Shortstop so maybe that is his future I believe he will start in Birmingham with a promotion to Charlotte

The suspect who was caught on tape murdering a hotel clerk and two tourists on Thanksgiving day at the Birmingham Airport inn all 3 victims were shot excution style in the head all over a $300 robbery. This has been a big story around the Magic city mostly because those 3 murders put the city's total to 97 this year and the city of Birmingham that is quickly moving up the list of most Dangerous city's already at #10. Hopefully this thug gets the Death Penalty and soon Triple Murder suspect captured

All the prayers for the family and the city of Fort Worth, It was just a 1 1/2 ago that Birmingham lost 3 officers in a senseless shooting where the suspects blamed the shooting on the GTA Vice City game. At least there will be justice as both Kerry Spencer and Nathaniel Woods have both been sentenced to death row. Thinking of the families

Add me to the list of Chris Stewart fans, He made me take notice this year he bulked up in the off season and his hitting has improved greatly from having no power (1 HR in '04) to 11 in 05. Chris Also improved his 04 met avg of .197 to .242 and his road avg from .207 to a whopping .306. And the strong suit of Stewart is the Defense this season he threw out SL base stealing leaders Todd Donavon who had 62 steals (Stewart gunned him out twice of 8 times Donavon was thrown out.) Marland Williams 38 steals (Stewart gunned him out 3 times of the 7 times he was caught) And Stewart also gunned down Montgomery's Johnny Rayburn who had 29 steals and Stewart was the only catcher to nail him on the bases this season. Stewart also calls a great game behind the plate by the end of the season he had really our pitchers working quick and effective. Bottom line I like Stewart he is a true team player last year Stewart played through head injuries, respitory infections where could barely breathe between innings and to many foul tips to even count. Hope this helps

Can you guys tell me about Gonzalez and Haigwood?
BHAMBARONS replied to Hey_Look_Its_Chase_Utley!'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can give some insight on Haigwood, seeing him for a half of season in Bham he really made an impresion on me and really the numbers speak for them self 6-1 1.74 ERA 0 HR 67 IP 76 K's .170 BA against. Granted we play at the canyon AKA the Hoover Met but Haig really jumped back on to the scene in his second start a game in Jacksonville which was voted as the second best team in the minors with a lineup that featured prospects like Delwyn Young, Joel Guzman, Andy LaRoche, Russ Martin and James Loney Haig threw 8 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits with 8K's. Haig also battled phenom Chuck James and really outduled him getting 10 K's and a week later had a 9 K game against Huntsville. I seen Haig get strikeouts through his breaking pitch and throwing the 91 MPH fastball up in the zone he is a master at changing speeds and throwing his breaking pitch for a strike then add a 91 heat which I think will improve you have solid potential for a middle to end of the rotation starter -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Like the era but he is giving up a lot of hits so far it seems? Was he like that during the regular season 2? Haeger will surrender the hits but as long he keeps them to singles and control's the walks he will be fine

Siegelman & Scrushy U.S. Attorney's who lost in cases against both Scrushy and former governor Siegleman this summer will now try and link both together in string of corruption.

Glad to see this jury got it right and this scum will get what is coming to him. This also means the other thug Kerry Spencer's life sentence will be overuled by Judge Nall. Story Birmingham (AP) - A jury on a 10-2 vote recommended the death penalty for a 28-year-old man convicted of capital murder for his role in the shooting deaths of three Birmingham police officers by a drug-dealing friend. Nathaniel Woods, who was in a crack house with the friend when the officers were killed, told jurors Tuesday he didn't care if they sentenced him to death. The jury had the option of recommending life in prison without parole. "I really don't have no feeling about the officers," Woods told jurors. He said the penalty was up to the jury. "If they want to take my blood, fine," he said. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Tommy Nail set final sentencing for Dec. 2. A death sentence brings an automatic appeal in Alabama. Woods was convicted Monday of capital murder in the June 17, 2004, slayings of Carlos "Curly" Owen, 58, Harley Chisholm III, 40, and Charles Robert Bennett, 33. A fourth officer, Michael Collins, was wounded but survived. Woods also was found guilty of the attempted murder of Collins, which carries a potential life sentence. The officers were shot while they were trying to serve a domestic assault warrant on Woods in an Ensley crack house.

I seen this year Huntsville Stars use a Knucle Baller throw BP and they hit Blast after Blast and then come up against Haeger in 2 games in both Haeger threw complete game shutouts and the Stars managed 5 hits in the 2 games. And I talked to Manager Don Money he said that Knucle ballers vary so much that it taking BP against one does not help. That is what former major leaguer Don Money says I am not sure if I believe him or not

Cards 8 Padres 5 I think SD can take a lot of positves from this game and use those on thursday. They now know they can hit the Card bullpen and if they eliminate the mistakes they could make this a good series

QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) I gotta agree with the Damon pick. He's their version of Podsednik, and Pods seems to be a popular choice too. If we can keep Damon off the basepaths, the power Manny and Papi flash will be damaging, but minimally so. And if Damon doesn't get one, that's one less thing for the pitcher to concentrate on. Not that they've had much trouble with forgetting about baserunners. Lets face it, Manny and Ortiz are going to burn us a few times. It's just something we gotta live with. But we can't give them free runs by letting the leadoff man get away with stuff. Anyway, we got this sheet covered! I agree as well Damon along with Edgar Renteria keep these 2 off base limits the damage that Papi and Manny can do.

At the game that was one of the worst I have ever seen. On the way home I heard it is clean break of Fibula and Tibula

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Ya, I just went to check who had the head to head advantage, that's a good point. Anyways, those time slots are certain, so I'm sure they'd still get that 7 o'clock game central game even if it was at Anaheim. Yah for a second I though the Time Zone change making it a 4:00 start time in LA but remebered they did it last year in the Boston Series.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) You know, I was thinking about that, do they have the tie breaker over they yanks?? If so then there is still a possibility that we play the yankees. Yes the Angels have a 5-2 record against them so if they tie LAA will get HF against the Yanks and that happens if NYY takes a loss and Angels win @ Texas

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Ok, got it from WSI, but is straight from MLB.com: When Division Series play commences on Tuesday, Game One of the American League Division Series involving the AL East Champion New York Yankees will be played at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on FOX with the other ALDS starting at 4:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. Game One of the National League Division Series involving the NL West Champion San Diego Padres will be held at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. The entire Division Series will be available on ESPN Radio Very happy to not be at 12, and I don't mind 3, we are awesome in day games anyways What happens if the Angels grab the homefield against the Yanks will those times stay the same? Thanks Tom
