QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) Great. So what are you using the 4 open 40 man spots for? Otherwise it would be insane to DFA a guy who has options left. it is insane to dfa a guy who is giving you nothing and with every pitch looks like he has less and less of a future with any big league team? Your mancrush on him is irrational at this point. Face it, he sucks.

Roger Clemens indicted for perjury, obstruction
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) Clemens is in no way a lock for the HOF due to the possible roiding It certainly stains his reputation, but I think he will get in. Maybe not first ballot, but he will get in

Roger Clemens indicted for perjury, obstruction
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) Sucks, but not unexpected. Govt. rarely wins high profile cases against high-priced private attorneys. He's still guilty as sin, and most in the BWAA will see it that way. doubtful

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Does anyone actually know when to expect Rose back? I remember when they were saying a January return. If we destroy the team and he comes back with 30-40 games remaining, the fans will revolt They said that his injury could take anywhere from 8-12 months to heal, and even then who knows when he actually will trust the knee. They need to build the team as if he isnt coming back next season, and if he does it is all gravy. I dont expect him to come back in January at all

Pettite admitted he did HGH, got away with it, then got Clemens off scott free.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) So, we thought our 6 month old pup was pretty much house trained. Got her at the end of March; her last house accident was probably the begging of May. We recently allowed her to go into the basement, but only when we are with her. Unfortunately, she will relieve herself in the basement. Is it that she doesn't think it's part of the house? My dogs had problems with that too when i lived in Carbondale. I think the concrete smells like dirt or something

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) Target Field vs. Oakland Colosseum? How terrible one-sided, that match-up isn't even close. New Yankee Stadium vs Old Milwaukee County Stadium would have been a close one

Hindsight is 20/20
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) Can't really say what should have been done at this point...have to wait and see how it plays out over the next several years. Obviously,to this point, what you are saying is correct. I hope I'm wrong, I want him to win a lot of games for the Sox. I just don't know if Danks has another gear in him.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) I obviously disagree, but I can see where you are coming from. However, that still doesn't mean Mark is worth a 4 year, $58 million contract at age 33. You are right, he isn't worth that much. I think he was worth negotiating with though, and I don't think Danks was. Danks should have been moved.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Do you think Buehrle will be a better pitcher in 2014 & 2015? Danks did have a lower ERA in 2008, 2009, & 2010 as well. I do. I think Buehrle will be an effective pitcher as long as he wants to play. He is a soft tossing lefty, it isn't as if he lost an upper 90s fastball and has to reinvent himself. I'm sick of watching Danks. Everytime he is staked to a lead he coughs it up. I used to think he was going to be something special, but the past 2 1/2 seasons he has managed to change my mind.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) "But.... but he's fan favorite and such a nice guy! Who cares about money?!? Pay him $100 million! Whatever it takes...!" You know this is twice you have said this about me. I didn't say anything like this. I believe Buehrle is and will remain the better pitcher. If you don't, that's fine. Greg, you saying I tend to whine sometimes is incredibly hilarious.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) I think you guys are being a bit harsh...if you can't even pay your employees the s***ty wage you're paying them on time, then yes, when you get a bit of operating cash, you should probably make up for it in some small way. The issue with him being paid on time and him expecting a raise because his company made money are completely separate in my mind. If the company is late on payroll, I'm looking for another job, not wondering why I didn't make incentive because the company made money. Its a startup company, there is an inherent risk in working there. s*** could hit the fan and then you have no job. It happened to me, I got laid off in november 05. The only difference is I had to tell my wife and child I had no job. He threw the generation Y comment out there, which is pretty ridiculous considering the state of the economy and the unemployment issues in the country.

GT: Chicago White Sox @ LA Dodgers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) He no longer can get K's when he needs them. Everytime the batters put the bat on the ball, something bad happens to him, and it has been the case since April of 2011 or really since the ASG and Thome beating the hell out of him in the 2nd half of 2010. He's just been a shell of his former self the last two years. No confidence. It's almost like he expects something to go wrong. Ever since he was put in the closer role.

QUOTE (Real @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) how is it 1-0? farmer said they tied it up, am I in the bizarro world? The Dodgers run was wiped out on the appeal play Treanor left third too early. Well, he didn't, but it was called.

GT: Chicago White Sox @ LA Dodgers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) Thought Treanor left too early. Not the best throw from Rios there, should have had Treanor at the plate. He left early...wow!!! Got a break there. Great catch by someone with the coaching staff. That throw was fine, it would have had Treanor if Flowers held on to it

GT: Chicago White Sox @ LA Dodgers
f***ing flowers. Perfect peg by Rios. The appeal!

Can we please find a big league 3B?!
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) Would Scott Rolen be considered an upgrade?? Yes, but why would the first place Reds trade him away? And then again, given his injury history and the fact that he is currently on a rehab assignment, why would you want him?

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) I'm raising a point about empty promises, but I guess it doesn't matter what anyone from generation Y says. It's just shut up, work, make money and if you're fulfilled, then that's fantastic. No, you have this wrong. Its just work, shut up, because you are working and to many other people out there who aren't working, that is fantastic. Having a degree doesn't entitle you to anything.
