Here's the thing. All of the teams who could use a Luis Robert are still very convinced that all it will take is a fairly mediocre offer to get him, and Chris Getz has done literally nothing publicly to dissuade teams and fans alike that Getz is either willing to move Robert, or needs to move Robert. While it can be argued that the fans might not be in the best position to know what Chris Getz is willing to do, his fellow GMs sure have an opinion that doesn't match this at all./
Most GMs who sign players to keep them, make it clear to the marketplace, fans, and player that they are here to stay. The only "nonsensical narratives" that need to end, are the ones that shift every debate to "what makes Getz look best".
Are we really upset that the Bears aren't the prohibitive playoff favorite a year after being the worst team in the NFC Central and being DOA as a team? Jesus people, enjoy the moment. This team is at least a year ahead of schedule for the talent on the roster, and that is without even talking about the injuries especially on the defensive side of the ball.
How about this for a thought. Typically the best path to being an effective major league starter, is to start games as much as possible. Are there exceptions? Sure. Are most starters brought to the majors as starters? Also yes.
They will know his demands when they draft him. Also keep in mind the slot difference between pick 1 and 2 is almost a million dollars. If someone demands full slot and overplays their hand and drops from 1 to 2, they cost themselves a lot of money.
