  1. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) He somehow got a major league deal.. Really? Wow.
  2. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) David Cook has signed with the Astros, Lance Broadway has signed with the Blue Jays. The way the Jays go through relievers, Broadway might see some innings in Toronto.
  3. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Brian Anderson to the royals. Eh, that belongs in the minor league catch all...
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Isn't he already in the Obama administration? Exactly. Having a brilliant financial mind doesn't mean you are never wrong.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) This is now my official Bernanke bashing thread. As more than a few people pointed out in response...California went through a very large housing bubble in the 1980's that burst in the early 90's and did severe damage to the state's economy at the time. If the chairman of the Fed did not know/understand that, then who the hell is Princeton hiring? Hey I hear Harvard's favorite castaway, Lawrence Summers, is looking for work... He has lots of investing experience!
  6. QUOTE (SockMe @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) me too, if we could sweep that it would huge, giving 4 more points of separation. Plus the games in hand...
  7. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) People really care about the Northwestern Womens Lacrosse? WTF? Its called stuffing the ballot box... not that Soxtalk knows anything about that...
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Even still, he's not exactly that much worse than Salmons or Hinrich, and no team is goign to last 2 months of the season going only 7 deep. Those two guys at least can play some defense. If Pargo isn't hitting, he is awfully worthless.
  9. Z's were too hard to read?
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) I wouldnt be surprised to see Javy do real good in New York this time around. He had a fantastic season last year, and perhaps that gave him a much need confidence boost. He's got something to prove, and we'll have to wait and see how that turns out. Overall, for what they gave up, this is a good deal for the Yankees. If they could get a .500 record and an ERA below 4.5, that aint terrible out of your no. 4 or 5. If he is trying to prove something, he will have an awful year. Putting pressure on himself is a horrible idea for Javy.
  11. That's a fair mark. We could go up or down a few spots based on how things go, but that is respectable.
  12. Mmm. Grass for dinner.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) God bless Peter Tomarken... Hey SS2k5, check this little nugget out. I was not aware of this: Michael Larson "cheats" Press Your Luck I had never heard of that before. Cool.
  14. But why let it be when you can improve the world? Are you against improving the world?
  15. I LIKE BIG BUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE!!!
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) My only response can be this. So how has that changed in the last few year with the return of pirates?
  17. Its also worth mentioning that the price of Cabrera ended up being a workhorse starting pitcher who puts up good numbers... In otherwords way more than the Sox could have paid for Melky.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) You really think the problem is Leadership? Then WTF do we keep holding onto Hinrich, Miller and Salmons for? How many teams can blow a 35 point lead? I know everyone loves to talk about the coach, because it is easy, and once in a while true, but ultimately it is the players game. The Bulls don't have anyone who can take control of this team, on the court, or otherwise.
  19. I can't believe the Yankees would go down that road again.
  20. QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) The sox were -25.6... tied with the red sox for third worst in baseball...ahead of the blue jays (-28.8) and twins (-30.6). But remember, the outfield defense wasn't really a problem anyway. So two of the four worst teams were playoff teams? Interesting.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) The 2000-2009 decade for the Sox has been without a doubt, the strongest decade of baseball for either team in Chicago since at least the 'teens. 3 divisions, 1 WS, and only 2 teams with less than 80 wins. For someone who remembers the late 70's until today, this has been by far the best decade of baseball I have gotten to enjoy.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) Read KW's quote on July 7. He said he couldn't make a big trade because of money, couple that with the fact KW traded for Peavy earlier in the season, but was refused. They had the money then, no? The Sox had money. His quote said their projections were off, which would indicate they had even less than they budgeted. So if they didn't have money in April and May, they had even less in July and August. If the money isn't a lot for 3 Peavy starts and what ever you want to call Rios' performance, how come so many freak out about Linebrink's contract? So the crux of the argument is now based on a Kenny Williams statement? Can I use the Iraqi Information Minister for mine?
  23. Holy s***. I didn't know they did a Press Your Luck video game! That is awesome!!!
  24. LMAO, I can't believe anyone thought this team was going to contend this year. They are a total mess. There is zero leadership.
