  1. To be honest, there can't be much that needs to be said right now. We are 4 wins from the World Series. I would think the hard part would be calming them down, not hyping them up.

  3. That article is all crap. The entire world knows that Jerry takes care of his guys. Kenny will get his extension after the season is over, unless he doesn't want the job anymore.
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) We have to win these first 2 games while their pitching is depleted. They'll be throwing out their worst. A split in Chicago is a loss. Getting onto Byrd early could be HUGE. They already burnt up Edwin Santana yesterday, and they would either have to bring in Washburn a day early, or rag their bullpen out for more than they usually would.
  5. QUOTE(mkalk @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) That is so funny, although making us look like Michael Jackson is just wrong. He's from THEIR neck of the woods, not ours. Michael Jackson and family are ACTUALLY from Gary Indiana FWIW, or about 30 miles from Chicago.
  6. The Jaime Burke fan club is going to be P.I.S.S.E.D. at this thread
  7. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) AHH Marrioti just said the Angels are a better form then the white sox ! OMFG NO! PLEASE FOR HEAVENS SAKE YANKEES WIN Judging simply by his success rate this year, BRING ON THE ANGELS!!
  8. Wow. Hopefully some of those guys refuse their assignments and they lose them.
  9. After playing 165 games, plus 40ish spring training games, the rest is huge, especially when coupled with the frequent flier miles that Anaheim/New York will be racking up by the time they get here. You add that to the nagging injuries that our players have (Pods groin, Crede/Hermanson back, etc) and it will be a big help IMO. The only guy I am really worried about getting too much rest is Garland who will have not pitched for almost 3 weeks by the time that he goes again.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Thats why you enjoy this now. I just cant stand or for that matter understand how people ares guarded or even pessemistic about the playoffs. We might never get there again, so just enjoy this. This can never be said enough. You never know what could go wrong, so why wouldn't you enjoy what celebrations you can have, instead of obsessing about the negatives, because you just might miss it all. For some of us, the journey is half of the fun of getting this far. People who were freaking out about this that and the other, missed out on one of the most fun teams I have ever seen. And not just for the last two weeks, but for the guts and glory off all 165 games we have played so far. Relax and enjoy it while you still can. Win or lose, it is all going to be over way to soon.
  11. From the looks of it, if we get the Yankees, we will be seeing Randy Johnson in Game One. That and the way Mariano Rivera are pitching kinda scares me. Really unless we get to their starters early, we are looking at Rivera and Gordon from the 6th inning on, not to mention the offense that the Yankees bring to the table. In reality, there are no easy games at this time of year, and whoever we get is going to be really, really tough. I just hope that we can steal Game One because the other team is exhausted.
  12. Also a good reply in Scott Reiforts blog
  13. The Trib had an article today confirming that Game One will be Tuesday night. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) I love how when someone calls these retards out on their past bashings, it's considered a "creepy rant", but someone like Baby Jay's obvious obsession/agenda with bashing the Sox is considered "journalism". Convenient double-standard, boys. Don't write something if you're going to regret having it shoved back at you. Excellent observation. These guys love to have the spotlight pointed at other people, and make their livings by watching how people preform under pressure, but when anykind of pressure is applied to them, they fold like an illegal alien maid.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) RALLY CREDE
  16. Great job man, congratulations
  17. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) That is the attitude you want your team to have. The thing that impressed me was how many of the guys have said this in their interviews even during the celebration. They are really focused on the big prize, and not just happy to be here.

BTW, show some Soxtalk props and get an Anderson, McCarthy, Cotts, and/or Bajenaru jersey. Show some props for guys who either post here, and/or have done interviews, answered questions etc. I know there are more guys than that, but those are ones that jump to the top of my mind. This site is much, much better because of guys like those 4, and a whole lot of our minor leaguers.

QUOTE(Art Vandelay @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Get a Sox jersey with your own last name or just a # you like. I'm not big on getting current players because once they leave, which most inevitably do, now you have an outdated jersey. Unless you don't mind that. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm with you. If you are over the age of 14, you should not wear another man's name on your back. Never understood that one. Everyone makes fun of those guys.
  21. QUOTE(LDF @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) we had a nice little group from another site who used to go and terrorize that board. haven't been there in some 3 or 4 yrs now and really don't want too. i do miss dago beef. There are a couple of cool guys I miss from over there. Most of the decent posters were convinced to switch to either here or WSI, but some never did leave, or longed for the simpler format of the old ESPN. There was just way too big of a troll population for my tastes, and no control over content at all.
  22. I started on ESPN back in the day. I haven't been back there in 3 or 4 years.

I finally saw "Crash" over the weekend. I loved the opening scene, and after that I was disappointed until the end. For a while it seemed like it was going to be a crappier "Do the right thing" but the ending really tied everything together nicely. I enjoyed it a lot, but stick with it, as it takes a while to develop.

  25. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Not to draw away from the massive casualties, but... You think it might draw Bin Laden out? Its not really that close to it. If I am understanding the distances right, it is at least 500 miles away from where Bin Laden would be hiding. Also the Trib is reporting this morning that 20,000 people are dead.
