  1. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) I personally would still rather have Moncada, but lets assume for the sake of argument you are correct and Bregman is the better prospect. Is the drop in value from Sale to Quintana equal to the drop in value from Moncada, Kopech, Basabe, Diaz to just Bregman? I think you guys are getting sucked in to the psychological games the Astros are trying to play to get an advantage in the deal. The deal should be based on value, not desperation brought on by chasing the supposedly unattainable. Playing hard to get may make you want the girl more, but it doesn't make her hotter. I agree, If bregman isn't on the table the rockies need a TOR starter and have a system that lines up with our timeline from both a talent and positional aspect; Rodgers/Pint/Tapia & Freeland/Murphy fits the sox like a glove.
  2. Anderson as a hitter screams Starling Marte to me.
  3. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Hopefully the Marlins come through with signing KJ. That would result in the perfect scenario from a White Sox perspective: trade Robertson to the Nationals and trade Jones to the Dodgers. White Sox can skate by with Putnam at closer next season until Burdi is ready. that is how i feel as well. Marlins sign KJ, we have a repeat of the Nats and Sawx bidding this time for Robertson we walk away with either Swihart and Ball or Fedde and Severino. Move Jones to LA along with Frazier.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 01:07 AM) Jones for two top 100 prospects would still be pretty sweet. The Ken Giles return would be like Willie Calhoun and Gavin Lux from the Dodgers. I think its possible to pair him up with Frazier and get Bellinger, Barnes and Lux
  5. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) If the Rockies are going for it (and with the Desmond signing, it looks like they are), I'd have to think they would have interest in Quintana. Not only is their rotation pretty poor, but I'd think Q's stuff would actually play well in Coors. With either Dahl or Rodgers (unlikely, but he is blocked by DJ Lamahieu and Story), they have a top end piece that would look good in the Sox organization, Tapia looks like a solid second piece, and they have pretty good organizational depth to get a deal done - maybe McMahon and a late lottery ticket arm? If Q gets moved to the rox I think Rodgers/Pint/Tapia is close to "fair" and the sale deal the #6, #39 & #71 overall prospects
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Reed is falling in value; I know a lot of people here like him,but his 1/4 season really wasn't good. I might go for more volume here, assuming no Bregman. Astros have a lot of really good, but not elite, prospects, particularly position players. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Q and Abreu sent together if thats what it takes to pry Bregman+++ Anderson / Moncada# Bregman / Fisher* Collins* A man can dream.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) Q to the Astros for a slew of young hitters is the logical final move...the Dodgers seem to be closed off as an avenue. I can see the Astros and Rox being in play for Quintana or a mega Quintana and Abreu package both have the farms and needs.
  8. If the sox view their window as '19 to be a dark horse and '20 to take the central; trading Q to the Colorado makes a lot of sense. A package headlined by Brendan Rodgers, Riley Pint and Raimel Tapia seems like a great jumping off point.
  9. QUOTE (RaySox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:46 PM) No doubt Frazier + Robertson would be a match made in heaven for both teams. I'd love to get Bellinger but it's not realistic. I think Jones + Frazier gets something like Bellinger, Alvarez & Lux
  10. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) Would have preferred 1 more prospect back, but I'm content overall....
  11. Got married in Vegas this past weekend checked my phone as i was boarding the plane back to Chicago this morning expecting to land and see Sale traded to the nats this is a pleasant surprise. I felt the deal was one prospect light then i realized the sox are not paying a dime of the 31.5mil remaining to Yoan and it made sense, that 31.5mil value is about equal to Groome's. Great start to the rebuild now don't half ass it and burn it all down including Eaton, hes at his peak value and if we're going to watch the kids play he has no place on this team.
  12. Bregman, Martes, Paulino, Hernandez & Stubbs
  13. I think its posturing, once Sale has been moved it makes no sense to hold onto Q when he could get a similar return same for Jones who would likely get a Ken Giles like return. The only real question is do you hold onto Eaton or sell high.
  14. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 08:21 AM) https://www.google.com/amp/syndication.blea...l?client=safari I find it funny that Sales "surplus value" has ranged anywhere from $112 earlier this summer in July from Dave Cameron here to $84.5 from Jeff Sullivan just this past week here as cited by Bleacher Report. I appreciate the fact they're using point of Pittsburgh as a jumping off point for the vale of prospects as well but all these articles fail to take into account the lack of supply in top level arms available this winter when factoring in his acquisition cost.
  15. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) Wow there is no way the Astros make that trade. If you want Bregman in a Quintana trade, it would probably be Bregman and Martes and no one else. Or Bregman and a couple guys in the back half of their top 10, but there is no way they give all of those pieces up if it's not Sale, and even if it is, they might not. First of all Q's surplus value is about 130m even if you consider bregman the #1 prospect in baseball that is only worth 73.5M, Martes is ranked #29 that puts his value at 29.8, Paulino is ranked #70 that puts his value at 16.5; that brings the total of those three "top 100" prospects to 119.8 million that still light for fair value not taking into account how thin the market is when people like Charlie Morton are getting paid what they are and the only top available arms via FA are Hill and Nova since Hellickson took the QO. Hernandez and Stubbs as additional throw ins make it very interesting and being to push near even of the 130 surplus value but that may even be considered and undervaluation. So yeah I think you're wrong, and way underestimating Q's value. here the point of reference for those stated values by the way.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) I disagree considering our new draft philosophy. Maybe 5 years ago. Agreed, Gallo to me should be a throw in at this point and his value is similar to Mike Olt
  17. Sale to BOS for Benintendi, Devers, Groome, Swihart & Ball Quintana to HOU for Bregman, Martes, Paulino, Hernandez & Stubbs Frazier and Jones to LAD for Bellinger, Barnes and Lux
  18. I would be ok with Benintendi, Devers & Kopech being the starting point with Swihart and say Ball as the other pieces. I also wouldn't be against Benintendi Devers, Groome, Swihart and Ball
  19. Eaton is under control for 5 years the only way you move him is if your getting a haul that rivals Q or you think his value will plummet after a firesale, His surplus value if you consider he has a similar aging curve to say Alex Gordon is around 130m after taking into account his contract.
  20. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) As a Dodgers fan, this sort of trade seems to go against their new organizational philosophy set forth by the new ownership group. Build a strong farm system to feed the Major League team, make trades to fill holes on the ML roster and not "Blockbuster" trades that gut the farm system (so to speak) ...such as this would seem. #shrug As a fan of both teams, if this trade goes down, I can have my cake and eat it too I'm in a very similar situation. I think the dodgers try and acquire someone like frazier and pick up the pick for turner and jansen and likely sign Chapman or another arm via trade.
  21. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Yep, this exactly. So excited to finally have a direction and learn all of our new top prospects, but also very scared that we won't get what most would say is fair value out of our assets. Not every trade can be a Shelby Miller trade. Agreed not every trade can be a Shelby Miller trade but when you look at the surplus value of Sale, Q, Eaton, Abreu & Jones, even getting fair value will create layers and waves of talent, it'll be exciting to watch unfold.
  22. I look forward to a full on fire sale and watching my 2 and a half year old grow up with a new core. The Kids Can Play PT. II Having said all that I'm on the fence with regards to selling Eaton, but his value is at an all time high and he could return a haul that rivals Q's and Sales and I doubt he wants to spend the next two to three years on a rebuilding roster so ship him off to Washington.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Why the hell wouldn't you move Eaton too? Eaton is a tough call, he will be 28 by the start of opening day next year and is under contract if you max out his options for 5 years at 38.4 Mil, if you suspect he has a similar aging curve to say Alex Gordon his surplus value is nearly identical to Q if not a tick higher when taking into account both inflation and how his offseason is a sellers market. The only way he would get traded in my eyes would be something like Giolito and Robles from Washington. It makes sense for the nats since Werth is a FA after this year and is on the decline, and turner would be better served at SS so Eaton could split time between CF and LF and then move over when Werth is a FA or push Harper to left in the near future as well. The reason you wouldn't move him or Anderson or Rodon is because they could be a part of the next contending team in 3 years and he is a face of the franchise that appeals to the blue collar base.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) That drunk whitesoxdave guy with the connections to the clubhouse reported the deal offered by Boston was Benintendi and I think 3 starters. Wasn't it reported the White Sox wanted Bradley Jr? Hahn wanted Betts ++
  25. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) I'm a big fan of that Quintana trade. Someone over at SSS pointed out Houston being a good trade target, and Bregman is obviously super interesting. I like Bregman a lot and Houston needs front line pitching and has elite players at SS and 2B so he is very much available for the right pitcher. Quintana has a ton of value but I don't see how the sox get out from under .500 with out having a fire sale. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) The difference is 75% of Sox fans who are angry with management and have little faith management knows what it is doing may just go across town to enjoy winning baseball. I was on the southside all day yesterday and couldn't count the amount of Cubs shirts, W flags, and "GO CUBS GO" signs. The Sox can not afford anymore non competitive seasons. They actually have a solid team that could compete if they got a competent catcher, center fielder, and 4th starter (Shields is a 5 at this point). 100% of that 75% appears to be made up. Those fans have already left and moved on to the Cubs and thats fine, the white sox fan base and organization has no where to go but up, are attendance is bad and our major league roster is bad too. With the cubs winning the world series there should have taken the pressure of the sox front office to be competitive and a "draw" in this town. Cubs aren't going anywhere and the only way the sox get back to relevancy is with a sustained window of success this core with two possibly three elite pitchers, a great looking 1B and outfielder wasn't enough to get there, time to blow it up. They have maybe 30mil to spend this off season there aren't enough WAR on the free agent market for the sox to buy up to become anything more than a dark horse for the second wildcard. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) I don't think we can get away with a team that might not even win 50 games. IMO a tear down is something like trade one of Quintana or Sale (not both) and get rid of guys like Frazier, Melky, Robertson. That way, you at least give fans a reason to come to the park. We'll easily be last in attendance and lose any sort of relevancy (we don't have much right now) if we decide to trade every valuable piece we have. I think that team i presented wins more than 50 games, its a lot of talent on that roster albeit young and unproven talent but i could see things breaking the right way and them pulling a 2006 Marlins by way of them being incredibly talented. I think a core of Rodon, Anderson and Eaton appeases the fan base all are very relate-able in addition to all the young talent they would be bringing in. I agree that we don't have much by way of attendance and relevancy right now, so again what do we have to lose? another year of not making the post season while wishing they would've rebuilt while the north side of the city has a legit 6 year window in front of them? QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) f*** man, beautifully laid out post! How did you do the custom depth chart? That is very cool. thanks, appreciate it, you can build one here QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) I know you just used Tex as an example, but he is retiring. I can totally see us signing someone like Matt Holiday though which is basically same concept. Didn't know that, Holiday is another great example just a vet that could possibly be flipped and mentor the young core.
