  1. I would be more stunned if Getz gets the job than I am with the moves today. You don’t clean house only to hire in house. Especially with a guy that has been questionable in his job at best. Ultimately JR made this decision , but someone convinced him this was the move to make. I wonder who it was. Other investors? Hawk? LaRussa? His son? Steve Stone? It was someone.
  2. Pedro can go back to KC with Matt Nagy.
  3. He is safe for now. JR didn’t want to pay another intern guy. But keep in mind, there was a report not too long ago where JR didn’t seem too enamored with Pedro. Certainly not at the level that Hahn and KW were. Ultimately the new GM decides who the manager is. I like Randy Flores for the job. He can draft. If the Sox can start drafting correctly and actually he very good at it, that will lead to sustained success. Hahn has a lot of time now to find a parade.
  4. I really don’t see how they possibly can go internal. The guy on channel 2 said they will have this singular position filled by the end of the season.
  5. I think that was the ticket, so JR gets make it look like he was fired. He’s still paying him, obviously. And firing Hahn without firing KW makes no sense.
  6. The Orioles and Brewers have also threatened to move to Nashville. JR will be the 3rd banana. Sounds about right.
  7. That's the thing. Oaklands situation wasn't because the team sucked. Montreal wasn't because the team always sucked. Tampa isn't because the team always sucks. Wouldn't MLB tell JR, why don't you try putting a good team on the field at least semi consistently then tell us Chicago cannot support you.
  8. There was a better chance of the Cubs moving to Rosemont, like they threatened, but didn't do and didn't get anything, than the Sox moving to Nashville in the next decade.
  9. At the very least, I'm sure JR would like a lease extension continuing his sweetheart deal for many years, with the city/state agreeing to hundreds of millions of upgrades.
  10. The Sox are going to have to make a case they need a new stadium. That the one they have just won't work. The fact is, unless they let it go really bad the next several years, they won't be able to make that case. The Braves financed most of Truist Park. The Rangers needed a dome. There are no issues for the White Sox except perhaps lining the ownership with more money. This isn't going to work. They are a charter franchise. MLB won't let them leave the area. If they want to build a new stadium, several suburbs and the city will probably be interested, but most of it will be on the White Sox dime. The Orioles and Brewers have also thrown out Nashville. This was going to come up at some point. I'm sure the Sox were hoping it was when they were on a run. Just the opposite. JR has a sweetheart deal. The state was pissed off about that. What happens next, who knows? But they won't leave the area, and someone else will probably have to buy the team and build the stadium.
  11. I know this sounds crazy, but they should try him as a closer. He should have 3 or 4 opportunities left this season.
  12. Exactly. You do a real deep dive into it, he has been really bad. Just think of the advantage the Sox had being in the ALC. They are the only team never to dominate it for a few years. They should have blown everyone else out.
  13. What really would make a lot of sense is dropping a baseball stadium in with the Bears stadium at Arlington Park. The 78 makes more sense. Wouldn't even have to change the City Connect jerseys. Of course neither will ever happen.
  14. I don't understand the fascination people have with placing a baseball team at Soldier Field. It's a nightmare to get to. The CTA stop is literally a mile a while. LSD is always crowded. The Bears do it less than 10 times a season. For the White Sox, it would be horrible.
  15. For all those worried the Sox may move to Nashville, it isn't going to happen in JR's time. If it was so easy to move, a couple of teams would have been there for years, and there is no way the AL will abandon Chicago like they would Oakland or Tampa.
  16. Just have to flush these losses and prepare to kick their ass next game. Going to control both sides of the ball. Pedro is a bigger bullshitter than Hahn.
  17. Pedro shouldn't even be given the rest of the season. Admit your mistake and fire him now. We're going to control both sides of the ball. Last in baseball by a huge margin. This guy doesn't deserve another day as a major league manager.
  18. This was always the plan. They just thought they would be winning right now and gaining public support to at least partially build them a new home. 6 years left on the lease, they need to start building within 3 years.
  19. Things might not change, but they also might. One way they won’t change is keeping these same clowns in place.
  20. While it's better than nothing, it still raises questions. Can't he see the results? Really, almost everyone has to go. Getz has been as bad as his job as Hahn. Grifol may be the worst manager in baseball. I don't know what KW brings to the table. The team obviously tuned out any coaching, or the coaching is horrible. Either way, they need to go. The only chance I see here is if KW pulls a Pax, and tells JR, the group in place can't do it. It's been proven. But his ego is huge, so that is probably off the table. Other than that, I expect a token firing or reassigment at best.
  21. It's so true. He's basically admitted he no longer is trying to win championships with the Bulls. Just trying to be good enough to collect some playoff money, without ever having to pay for a team that can win it all.
  22. They really need to start whacking employees now. I’d start with Hahn.
  23. There is definitely a lot of truth to this. Every time they are good he has some sort of I told you so. The problem is , and what he won’t realize is there are way more I told you sos against him than with him.
  24. Bobs column next week will probably say JR has finished his interviews and the consensus is the Sox struggles were the fault of Middleton, Lynn, Kelly, and Graveman, and luckily they were able to get rid of all of them, and pick up some can’t miss prospects in the meantime.
  25. I also don’t know how or why you could keep KW if you fire Hahn. Then you would be saying Hahn was fucking up, KW knew this but let him slide? I could see an instance or two you disagree with what he wants to do but you let it go because that is his job. But to let it go to the extent the team gets to this point? They all need to go. Make sure there is room in the clown car out of town for Haber and Getz, All these guys were giddy about Pedro Grifol, one of thw worst managers in team history. He almost makes Terry Bevington look competent.
