  1. Another thing is it’s a lot easier to adjust coverage when the team is out of season. The got rid of the White Sox beat writer in the middle of the season. When does that ever happen.? The Teibume went without a Sox beat writer for a while.
  2. Yes. It's like the terminal disease has now been found. It's just a matter of time.
  3. I'd be willing to bet if the White Sox were currently in first place, James Fegan would still be working at the Athletic, and some other beat writer would be jobless.
  4. Outside of Pittsburgh , there are very few people who give a rat's ass about Pirate news. They have no superstars. They don't generate interest. Just like the White Sox. Win/Loss record doesn't matter as much as interest, although the White Sox are one team that W/L is a good barometer of the interest.
  5. I really doubt his salary, considering his previous employment, was significant enough to be a deciding factor in his layoff. The guy got laid off because he covered a team not many people care to read about.
  6. Because replacing a beat writer midseason doesn't work very well, really makes the other person look bad, and Fegan would need to work on his contacts with other teams. And maybe they did, but perhaps he doesn't want to relocate. If he's one of the worst beat writers on the staff, everyone else is beyond outstanding. This guy is really good. I would say the best beat writer the Sox have had in a long time, and they have had several real good ones.
  7. Yes, I'm pleasantly surprised. I feared the worst with this one. Can't wait until he returns.
  8. It wasn't like they got rid of half the beat writers. Only a small few, and if you don't think the reason is the White Sox don't draw much interest, you are fooling yourself.
  9. It is with the first part, but equally hysterical is anyone saying Pedro has shown he’s at least half the manager we were hoping he would be.
  10. So scouts think the White Sox have some bad players who would be good if they were on a good team. I think there are 3 or 4 people who really believe this team is capable of being decent, and all of them are on JRs payroll.
  11. TA knocks up some woman whose line of work is social media "influencer". How stupid is he to now be complaining his business is on social media? Just another case of not being accountable. I loved the guy. Now, I've had about enough.
  12. If the Sox were the Rockstar team these dopes claimed they would be, they wouldn't be cutting their beat writer.
  13. Other than a fungo bat, what is anyone going to give up for these guys save Gio?
  14. When my dad was a kid he was an Andy Frain usher and worked all events. In fact when they started ESPN classic, they showed old time wrestling the very first day and I saw him in the ring. He used to escort the wrestlers back to the locker room. He was one of the few that liked both teams, but one day he was working a doubleheader at Wrigley, and was right behind the plate. The GM of the Cubs saw him leaning against a railing, it was a long day. He called Andy Frain over and told him to fire my dad. My dad go the message to see Andy who told him what happened, said he wasn't going to fire him, just hide in the upper dack the rest of the day. After that, my dad hated the Cubs, so everything with me was Sox. Thank God that happened or I might actually want the Cubs to win once in a while.
  15. Fegan didn't get let go because he was bad at his job. He got let go because the team he covers has turned everyone off. RH,KW and JR strike again.
  16. In the middle of what is supposed to be their championship window, in a division where no one is above .500, the Athletic decided the Sox are so insignificant they don’t merit a beat writer, even if said beat writer may be the best in the business. Let that sink in.
  17. Sustained winning costs too much for him. Just shop the clearance rack. Once in a while you might hit it big.
  18. He should have no problem finding another job. Hopefully he can somehow still cover the White Sox, but I doubt it.
  19. Hahn believes or at least hopes it is the same issue as last season. He’s getting an MRI tomorrow. Liam was all over it last year. Now it’s crickets. That has me a bit worried.
  20. They blew 9th inning leads 2 days in a row or they would be 2.5 out. IMO, now they are just out. It seems every time they make a mistake it haunts them. They just don’t have a good enough roster to overcome mistakes, let alone maybe not make them at crucial times. How Moncada was not guarding the line in the 9th was curious too. That must be analytics, but teams still play no doubles.
  21. He missed time last year with the same issue. Hopefully nothing got worse and it just needs time to calm down. But I kind of doubt iit.
  22. Liam is throwing harder than 93 but it takes time, especially for someone who went through many rounds of chemo, I’m shocked he is pitching now at all. But one of these days he will come in and look like he’s looked the last couple of seasons. Then they will use him the next day and he will be the same. Then he will be all the way back.
  23. Kelly sucked but you can't expect your bullpen to have a 0.00 RRA. Scoring 1 run isn't going to get you many wins. I have the feeling today was the start of a freefall back to where they have spent most of the season. They came real close to reeling me back in.
  24. I think that's part of it. Mechanics don't matter when you are trying to make a routine grounder look like a Michael Jordan breakaway dunk.
