Padres interview Ozzie for MGR job
Padres say they might not have a manager in place by the GM meetings 11/8. That must mean either Ozzie didn't wow them or he isn't interested. It would be interesting to see what Ozzie would say when Preller handed him a line up. Article complaining about Preller. Complaints seem familiar. He has missed on his last two managers. He has made Padres fans go through another rebuild after failing an attempt to build a winner with a bunch of splashy additions in 2015. He then failed to upgrade the rotation at this year’s trade deadline when it was obvious it needed help.

Trashing players on their way out the door was the White Sox way for a long time. I thought they got away from that for a while. I guess maybe it's back. Stone seems like he likes to trash players, especially on Twitter, and then go the opposite on telecasts. He's trashed Grandal a lot, but on most telecasts in the second half this year, he spoke about him like he was a first ballot HOFer. He also trashed Moncada on Twitter, but raves about him on TV. Eloy also, to some extent.

Did Stone really say that? Considering he himself is a little guy who admittedly didn't really know what he was doing until he was in his 30s, it seems kind of weird he would label a 23 or 24 year old after about half a season in the big leagues.

Beach feels relief and vindication. A report paid for by Rocky does admittedly leave some questions, and some strange circumstances, but if it makes the victim feel better, there is some good in it.

I get that, and you are right something like sexual assault you probably take as far up the flagpole as you can, but McCub was the guy. Chances are no matter what Bowman does short of leaking it to the press, it gets quashed, and then McCain probably does to Stan's career Aldrich threatened for Beachs. And he had only heard one side. There was a chance it didn't go down as he heard. There were 3 people initially in the room the night this occurred, and they have 3 different versions about how things went. Throw the offenders out now for sure. there is no question he was lying. But the woman and Beachs stories are a bit different. Of course it's 11 years .

I am glad Stan is gone, but the reality for me is if this thing is the real reason, and he is being honest, he got screwed. Obviously he had been around a while, but he was a 1st year GM, and McCub told him he would take care of it. I don’t think many would have gone back to McCub later for an update, and to follow up on his following up. It could have been a career killer. As a manager, I get trained on this stuff yearly, and if I get a report, I am supposed to go to HR or my boss. If my boss told me they would handle it, I don’t really think up until this , I would have followed up, especially seeing a month later the guy is gone. It should have been right away. There should have been a trail so he couldn’t do it again, which he did to a minor. But to me, Stan was a naive middle manager who got burned by his old boss. He will learn from this. I know I have. It’s too bad someome had to be a victim. I hope some day he can somehow move on from it and lead a happy life.

It is amazing it's the first time Lavine has been on an NBA team that has won 4 in a row.

The thing I don't understand is how they concluded doing nothing initially was the right move for the Blackhawks. . You don't have to publicly fire him. Quietly tell him to stay home and then let him go. Report him to the authorities. McCub is a scumbag.

I can see Stan's point if he's being straight. He did report the incident to his superior, McCub, and expected him to handle it. Now, over 11 years later, not following up while being a first year GM and going above his boss' head, cost him his job. That's kind of shitty. Not nearly as shitty as what happened to the player, but I think most of us would have washed our hands of it once we reported it to our boss.

No announcement yet, but Stan is the only one left from the big meeting mentioned in the press conference that still may work for the Blackhawks, so he is probably gone.

I guess they got embarrassed by how much they ripped off their fan and gave him a few more things. Season tickets for the rest of this year and next, some signed uniforms. It's better, but not close.

The fumbling is a huge concern though. Even when he hasn’t officially fumbled, the ball seems to pop loose a bit too often. Not getting hit all the time could be a cure.

The one reason I wouldn’t mind the Sox signing Bryant, who can play 5 positions, is to hear all my Cubs fan friends who have put him on the pedestal, tell me how much he sucks. Kind of like when my Illini friends were so butt hurt when Bill Self went to Kansas, suddenly the guy that was going to lead them to multiple championships, was a horrid coach who slept with cheerleaders and sorority ladies according to their very in tuned sources .

So a loss to Purdue signals possibly losing the rest of the way?

I think Fields is plenty quick. He just doesn’t have the instinct to take off. Maybe it is because he doesn’t want to be labeled a run first QB or something else. But with this offense, he either hangs in and gets killed, or takes off and doesn’t develop. Lose Nagy, lose Pace. Bring in someone who puts an emphasis on the offensive line which the Bears have been neglecting for years. Fix that, and they could bring John Fox back with his 1980s offense, and he would look like a guru compared to Nagy.

Would you accept Michael Reinsdorf as the new Chairman/Owner
His sons have a group buying up White Sox shares, and they will be the executors when JR checks out. Looks like the people they have financing their purchasing are the next shareholders of the team with either both or one of the Reinsdorf in charge. as I have posted many years ago, I worked with someone who did business with Michael, and knew him fairly well. At least then, Michael wanted to run the White Sox, and told the person I know, that there were some things he would do a lot differently than his father. His first few years with the Bulls it seemed like more of the same, but maybe JR still being there had an effect. I won’t give him too much credit for sending GarPax packing. Didn’t Pax concede it probably was time for a change? I guess what I am getting at is, good or bad, it is hard to judge how Michael will be if JR is still involved. I do know back in the day he was for a little more risk with payrolls, and trying to get more attractions surrounding the park. Things they could build in parking lots.

I think it's very hard to believe they lucked their way to 3 cups. There was some solid scouting and development going on back then. Maybe they got lazy from it and stopped doing what made them great. But Bowman has to go, if not for anything but the sex abuse case.

So What Do The Dodgers Do This Off Season To Get To Be As Good As The Braves?
This is silly. The White Sox just have to play better in October.it doesn't matter how many games the win the ALC by. BTW, Houston was 19-16 vs the ALC. Lost the season series to KC, DET and MiN. How did they make the WS? The problem was despite being reasonably hot at the end of the regular season, they just didn't have it vs Houston. A play here, a play there, maybe a different story, but the starting pitching was awful. The offense wasn't there except for 1 game.

Bryant still puts up good numbers, but they have been down since his peak. He seems like a guy you may regret giving a long term deal fairly soon. There just is something about him that makes me think you always will expect more.

Bulls have been a lot of fun. But 2 games against the Pistons and one vs a Zion less NO, isn't exactly a challenge. Hope they can keep it up vs halfway decent teams so there is something interesting to watch in Chicago before next baseball season.

He needs 2 negative tests 24 hours apart to return. If it's a false positive he should be back, but if not I think it takes a while to leave your system. Most of the real quick comebacks were false positives or close contacts.

Brady threw his 600th TD pass yesterday. The receiver didn’t know and gave it to a guy who was wearing his jersey in the end zone stands. They negotiated a new game used ball and a $1000 gift card to the teams gift shop. If you are ever in this situation, hold out. The ball has an estimated worth of $500,000 according to an auctioneer.

Abreu next year and in the future
To me, Kopech will be in a similar situation next season to what Rodon was in this year.
