  1. Stone should apologize to Vaughn. He hit TA. TA muffled it.
  2. Much like many of us have wanted Tony to take on for the team with balls and strikes calls this year, he basically did the equivalent last night. Obviously there is concern with Abreu looking like he just got knocked out, but he also wants to make the Guardians staff feel some pressure not to throw inside giving his team an advantage in a tight game.
  3. One other question is why does Tony know what the catcher called? That wouldn’t be sportsmanship.
  4. Especially in this one. It is throwing a baseball. Even the greatest don’t get it right where they want it plenty. To say he has no command so the catcher can’t call for an inside pitch is a joke. Besides if he has no command and the catcher wants it inside, wouldn’t that mean there is a decent chance it won’t be inside? Have you ever called out a catcher for calling for an inside pitch from a pitcher with no command? If there is one post before this incident, I will say I am sorry I am wrong. But it has never happened. What Tony did was for show, and that is fine. Hopefully he didn’t pull a hammy. You can see how he was holding on to Cairo when he was getting into it. I was at the game and had no idea it was he who started it. Tony has an issue with guys getting beaned and there is nothing wrong with that. But accidents do happen. Abreu gets hit a ton. I was at a Sox game in the 90s when Tony was managing Oakland, and I think it was Bobby Thigpen beaned one of their players. Tony ran out , took the bat, threw it against the netting behind home plate and started getting into it with Carlton Fisk. Batters get hit. It is unfortunate, especially if it’s the head or another area which causes injury. But it is part of the game.
  5. They haven’t really been good offensively since the Houston series. I hope at some point soon they will have everyone in the line up, and I have the feeling numbers are going to go up.
  6. So once a player hits a slump, there is no rebound? Looks like he is starting to come out of it to me.
  7. It is nt reasonable. Sorry the guy got hit in the head. It sucks. The pitcher was really disturbed. But if there is no intent, there is no fault. Sox pitchers still try to throw inside when they have no command. If that is Tony’s attitude, he should call out his pitchers and catchers like he did Yermin for hitting 3-0.
  8. Baseball season must really piss you off. But you are correct, Tuesday’s game and tonight’s game are of equal importance, and since the rest of the AL Central has surrendered, neither are important. More important is making sure Eloy is ready to go for the playoffs.
  9. I guess that would mean when White Sox pitchers don’t have their command, catchers are not allowed to call for inside pitches; which we know is BS.
  10. That’s true. But at least they don’t have to worry about flying bats.
  11. Both Engel and Eloy have suffered other injuries almost immediately after returning from missing a lot of time. I hope they can stop this trend with Robert and Grandal.
  12. I agree, but Seby Zavala bunting vs. a guy throwing 96-97 really isn’t giving up an out. It is attempting to make the out productive. BTW I was at the game last night and after Collins walked, they had 1st and 3rd for TA. The infield was playing in and neither the 2B or SS were anywhere near second base. Collins could have stole 2nd without a play.
  13. Team sucks. 9 game leads suck. They are going to get wiped out in the playoffs.
  14. I would be all for it if Abreu was hit on purpose. But that was not the case. Dick measuring contests sometimes make sense. Not here. The AL Central has surrendered, perhaps for several years. Just keep your eye on the prize.
  15. A pretty horrible debut. The boo birds were out.
  16. I was at the game and a guy behind me was with his son. He was explaining a lot to him so it could have been the kid’s first game or the first one he actually could comprehend. Anyways, when Hendriks comes in the dad tells his son to keep an eye on him when he gets the 3rd out, he goes nuts. Liam didn’t disappoint.
  17. And also ends the 6 out save, although it’s been successful, it will probably aid Hendriks as the games pile up.
  18. He seemed to me to be as advertised offensively. Not as fast as was thought. He certainly isn’t Billy Hamilton running the bases, but he isn’t Paul Konerko either. I read where he is in the top quarter in baseball. Did struggle some defensively initially, but was doing much better at the time he was hurt. I think he is going to be a nice player for as long as his body will let him. He is a young guy, and his game was definitely on the rise, just like we expect from all of the Sox younger guys. I never understood the hatred. The Soxtalk scouts had Mendick as a capable replacement.
  19. It was the only way Seby might make contact, so it made perfect sense, and as soon as the runner got to 3rd, Seby was benched. I think it is the first time I have ever seen a pinch hitter in the middle of an AB without a pitching change or injury.
  20. It would have been nice had he checked on Jose before Pushing Pair ez away. And I do love the fake outrage where he is holding on to Cairo for dear life, knowing that there is a decent chance he gets his ass kicked if he got into anything real, but as a Sox fan who has always wondered why this guy is managing the team, this isn’t really embarrassing. I do wonder about his logic. This clearly was unintentional and no one felt worse about it than the pitcher, yet he almost cheers when Yermin was intentionally thrown at earlier, using it wasn’t at the head as partial reason not to care. Well, intentionally trying to hit someone has a better shot of being a beanball than just trying to throw inside, and other body parts can be injured by getting hit by a sphere coming at you 97 MPH. Just thankfully Jose is OK.
  21. Yes. It's certain. They will trade one of them.
