  1. Not to mention he was patting himself on the back when he agreed Nick Williams was the better option. How did that work out? How is Vaughn supposed to improve vs RHP if he sits against them?
  2. He didn't use anything. He went out of his way to say it before they started checking. He is one guy who has always been using the rosin bag, so very little reason to believe his success was due to spider tac.
  3. Yes, everyone hits in Charlotte, but you have to give it up to Jake Burger. Basically 3 years without playing, goes to AAA and mashes. Good for us. but more importantly, good for him.
  4. Frank wants TA to run, but I think his legs are sore. He hasn't been busting it for a couple of games.
  5. He obviously used stuff before. He didn't once hit the bill of his cap last night. It used to be routine. At least once per pitch. But he still looked pretty good. It doesn't appear his performance improvement was all sticky substance.
  6. You have to love the Big Hurts disposition. Many HOFers like to critique. Big Hurt thinks everyone is great.
  7. Lucas used to touch the bill of his hat about every pitch, He isn’t tonight. What happened?
  8. I don't know about that. They aren't going to get much for him anyway and waiting until the deadline costs them more than $1 million. I suspect the Sox want them to eat some money.
  9. i would like Escobar. Yes, he has been pretty meh, as has been pointed out. But he does hit HRs, something the Sox need to win games, and the fact that he has been meh would reduce the cost and maybe increase the odds he gets on a roll. Does anyone really think Adam Fraizer is going to hit .320 this year? And how about switching leagues? He is going to cost a ton, and probably regress closer to the mean..You probably get Escobar for not much more than salary relief.
  10. You can pick up decent rental upgrades for middling prospects and or financial relief. Playoff games are huge money makers for teams. Even JR might be willing to swallow hard and pick up salary.
  11. I agree. I don't think it is acceptable either. But waiting closer to the deadline might not be so bad. Then you have a better idea where Robert and Eloy are at, and a few more pretender teams may be selling. OTOH, the better you get now is less work later. I do think an OF or IF with power should be a priority right now, and you have to figure RH has been shopping since Eloy went down.
  12. They were playing well and have a lead. They have been getting some production out of guys they probably shouldn't be getting production from. It buys them time. They now play a lot of crappy teams, maybe that buys them more time, but eventually guys like Hamilton and Lamb and Mendick and Goodwin and Burr will most likely show why they were released or considered end of the roster guys. Yermin may be going through that now. RH can wait, but should he? Who knows who else goes down the last 3 months of the year.
  13. The offense is really bad right now. The Yerminator may need a trip to Charlotte.
  14. , There is no way it won’t be indoors. Maybe a retractable, but that is a pretty stiff expense for a few games a year.
  15. July in Vegas is pretty sweet. I got married there. It was 115 degrees. But a dry heat.
  16. Not Cishek deleted his tweet about Escobar trade not being announced late at night the day he had off, because it wasn't a big enough trade. He also has a tweet we're his"source" asked him to remove a few tweets so he or she would stay out of trouble. He obviously had zero info on this, and even if he was telling the truth, that would mean his source has dried up. He would have been better off just telling the world he was wrong.
  17. Kopech as well, although I think if he wasn't on an innings limit, he would probably be back by now. His didn't seem very bad, and he is a strong dude. I think giving him a blow now probably seems like a good idea, as he probably would have had to take a couple of weeks off anyway.
  18. I still think if healthy, Eaton can play. Whether he can stay healthy is a legit question, but I didn't think he was as injury prone as others. When he was here previously, he answered the bell. His first 2 partials in DC were caused by the same play slipping on a wet base. He had knee surgery, came back, his ankle was bothering him,. They claim it happened when he hurt the knee. Got a specialist to clean it up, and he was fine the rest of 2018 and all of 2019. Last year, I think he broke a finger. The hammy problems the White Sox are having is going to cause either a workout or stretching change. It seems there always is some injury players get in bunches. IMO, it has to come from their routines, since most are very similar. Lakers just fired their trainer. Apparently it was her fault LeBron messed up his ankle.
  19. Is it just me or does anyone else notice Cubmania in Chicago seems to be at about as low of level since pre Harry Caray? Sure, they will probably sell out or nearly sell out their remaining home games, but it’s the middle of June, they are in contention, and whether it’s a newspaper or television, you almost have search for Cubs stuff. Even when they really sucked, it was always in your face. Maybe it’s Marquee, maybe winning took the tolerance of not being the best away, but it seems really different. Hopefully the Sox can capitalize.
  20. They offered Pederson $10 million before they signed Eaton. He said no. Mistake on his part. I wouldn’t say the Eaton signing was a disaster. He hasn’t been good obviously, but he did have a few moments, but the Sox haven’t been on much with signings in this price range. I do agree about injuries. Robert, Eloy, Madrigal, even TA, get hurt every year, and they are young. It doesn’t seem like a thing you outgrow. I would think, if anything, it may get worse.
  21. Hopefully Robert and Eloy return. Abreu gets hit. Grandal gets to .200, and the offense looks nasty again.
  22. The guy hasn't pitched in almost 2 years, coming off shoulder problems, and still not 100%.
  23. Leury is technically a back up and he gets more play than most regulars. The team would be stacked, and Escobar isn't exactly a star, so he may like the role. He loves the organization.
  24. The thing is, if you traded for Escobar, you could re-sign him and let him take the Leury perhaps with less OF appearances in 2022. If they get any semblance of health next season, you won't need that spot to go to the OF very often.
  25. One of the better in season trades the Sox made was in 2000 acquiring Charles Johnson for the stretch run. Brooks Fordyce was the cost. He was serviceable, and put up really good numbers the rest of 2000 for Baltimore, but Johnson was nails for the Sox. Just a rental, but he helped make sure they made the playoffs.
