My wife had the TV on this past weekend and I don’t remember if it was fake news CNN or MSDNC, but they interviewed 5 pediatricians from all around the country and asked if they would feel safe sending their child to school this fall. 5 out of 5 said yes. But they all said there had to be social distancing and constant cleaning. Perhaps having gym class outside. One said that child to adult transmission is very rare, so teachers would really have to worry about staying away from other teachers. Another said HS students would probably have to wear masks but the younger students would not. It really surprised me. Of course they also all said things could change quickly.

Jason just said Robert will make Eloy a better LF. I'm not so sure about that. Engel was pretty good with the glove.

It's amazing how many people want to make a big deal out of this. It's going to ruin everything.....If you don't have a problem with someone opting out, you really shouldn't have a problem with anyone opting out. If the guy has anxiety, the lockdown could have done a number on him. Judging him by tweets or rumors will make you look like a fool.

He is established. Besides, Farmer died unexpectedly on April 1. Kind of hard to get the kind of "established" guy you are looking for after the season was supposed to start. I think Masur is good. The team makes hardly anything on radio broadcasts. They aren't going to spend a ton of money bringing a big name in. That's for TV.

A mandate and actually making people wear them are 2 different things. There has been a mandate in IL for months. A couple of weeks ago, when I went out, I counted how many people wore masks out the the first 20 people I saw. The high for the week was 7. The low was 4. It was pretty steady at around 25%.

First thing, make everyone wear a mask.

The WH is going on a crusade to trash Fauci. And probably will still say everything is under control and the virus will go away once it gets warmer.

If you remember the lead up to Kopech’s first start, there was more buzz for that than any Chris Sale start during his White Sox career. Kopech day was huge 4 times. Of course having little else to look forward to had something to do with it. But he was definitely considered a savior.

Doctors are really worried about long term effects the virus will have on players’ lungs and heart. Apparently even asymptomatic victims have wound up with some organ damage.

They are also playing baseball with crowds in Taiwan. Those countries probably don’t test enough so the virus decided to go somewhere else

A friend of mine knows someone significant In the Iowa athletic department. He told me this person told him they really do not expect to play football this fall. Hopefully in the spring.

Coop has said some dumb stuff in the past, but this didn’t cross any line IMO. Kopech has acknowledged these issues in the past, Coop just said he hope he is OK.

To be fair, his UCL was in the middle of being shredded. i do agree he was overhyped, basically made to be a savior. At least to me he has seemed a bit more mature since his injury.

I would imagine at some point he probably will let everyone know where he was at with this. But why now? Does everyone really need the instant gratification that his “excuse” was legit or not? Like he owes it to us to play? I am looking forward to games just like everyone here, but let’s not forget that we obviously don’t have the players best interests at heart wanting them to play. They are risking a lot. Maybe he is taking care of family, maybe his wife is pregnant, maybe it is his anxiety issue, maybe he doesn’t feel comfortable leaving his house, maybe he would rather go fishing, Whatever the reason, and I agree with the notion he has always been overhyped, I am good with it. Hopefully he remains healthy, and can contribute in 2021. And if he does, everyone who seemingly has a problem with his decision will forget they ever had that problem.

He doesn’t have elbow issues. Hahn said he was healthy. If it turned out he was anything but, he would lose all credibility with the press. He knows he doesn’t have enough time to get ready. He knows his service time will most likely be manipulated anyway, he knows this is going to be an odd “season”. He isn’t comfortable with the situation. Besides, he either wants to become an activist or his wife is pregnant or he is getting divorced. So far. Whatever the reason, if he doesn’t feel right about coming back for 2 months, good for him to say I won’t be there. Hopefully, in February thinks will be closer to normal and we can see him then.

No they are playing in a country that is setting new records for cases every day. Phoenix has run out of room at their morgues.

The guys is not pitching, that is reason for concern , but opting out is fine to me no matter what his excuse is. Get him back next February, hopefully, ready to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are several injuries this year. I bet by the end of October, assuming he get everything in, and that is a huge assumption, there are going to be a lot of players that if they had to do it over, would have opted out. i love that they are playing for selfish reasons. It will give me something to watch for 3 months. But when you think about it, even though they had to give it a go, it is borderline stupid. They are asking for a disaster.

If you are younger and don't have a family to support, B seems like an obvious choice.

Exactly what is Trump doing to make the US citizens safer re Covid 19? Once the calendar turned to May 1, he gave up and went with whatever Fox News personalizes working from home told him. Now he insists schools be open. Not because Kids need an education but because if they aren’t open their parents won’t be back at work, therefore the economy won’t be back to the level he needs for re-election. The countries he whines that opened their schools didn’t listen to Drs. Hannity and Carlson and Ingraham. That is why it is safer for them to open. Ignoring science is pretty ignorant, and that is exactly what the WH has done. What happened to the virus is going to go away when it gets warm? You would think a self described germaphobe would wear a mask. Even that claim is fake. Listening to the WH will literally get you sick and maybe killed.

Trump is having all kinds of problems with fractions on Twitter, but he claims the only reason there are so many cases (little embers) is because there are so many tests. That there wouldn't be Covid 19 without tests. So he doesn't know basic fractions, something you learn in grammar school. And has no logic. No tests=no disease? Does that mean we can rid the world of earthquakes if they demolish all Richter Scales?

Everyone who wants a test can have a test, and the tests are beautiful. That was almost 4 months ago, to say testing may be at capacity is fake news obviously.
