The Athletic had a good article about guys working out in Florida over the pandemic. There are a good number of guys that want to play because it is what they want to do. A major league career is not that long and to just give up a season is not something you do lightly especially if you are in your prime. I get Price and Zimmerman etc. but even Eloy giving up 60 games is not something he will do rather easily. If you make $600K a year, $200K is a lot. Especially if you are spending like you make $600K a year. The positive cases thus far have not come from opening the baseball season.

I disagree with you on the "mascot" approach. I like when a team uses the tribe name because in a way it honors their heritage and really is the only time you would hear of these tribes. The racist mascots of chief Wahoo, the tomahawk chop and Redskins need to all go away maybe even the FSU depiction. Then you get to the Blackhawk logo.....seems to fall in line with U of I war dance and FSU representation.......leave the tribe name but change the depiction.

What Illinois did better was remain locked down and opened gradually and in Chicago area mask wearing indoors is virtually 100%. Illinois was hammered early and is now in managing well while there are other states that have now exploded. Those are the states now that have set us back and that is 100% on the federal government. The warmer climates are now moving indoors while in Illinois people are more outdoors.....well until the excessive heat is now hitting us hard. It is the indoor groups that are causing this boom.

The playoffs are always bullshit. The regular season champion should be the champion on an evenly based schedule. If you want to do AL v NL that is fine but the best team in the regular season is the best team case closed. Not some team that gets hot/lucky for the playoffs. Only sport that I think needs playoffs is football. College basketball conference tournaments drive me nuts.

I went to Michigan last weekend and live in Chicago southland. I think the message is pretty clear be outside and socially distant and if inside wear a mask. SW Michigan masks seemed to be the exception in Illinois it seems to be a rarity to see a person without a mask in a somewhat confined space. The IL numbers to me are acceptable if this is life. The part of this disease that gave me the most angst was the surface transmission and the clarity on that has eased some angst (i.e. cleaning every product I bought from the grocery story for a family of 5). I can keep my space from anyone anywhere as I never like to be close to people, kind of an OCD thing. The White House simply needs to push the narrative that wearing a mask is a much better option than not wearing a mask simple as that. I have lost all respect for a person on social media who is now acting like CO2 poisoning will be what kills us all....yes the medical professions who wear masks have not researched the affects of mask wearing but Karen from Hinsdale has figured out the risk....SMH. I want to defriend her but it is now a study in how long she will hold onto that anchor. If the White House comes out and now states that we should wear masks, is Trump done for in Nov?

Tanking teams will be selling anything and everything especially if there is a salary attached. You could see a ton of trades early as the GM's have had months to do nothing but time to dream up trades.

Social media continues to prove to me that a greater majority of the population are pretty much idiots than I would have hoped. What is the government going to do with the information that I went to visit my father yesterday, am at work and may stop at the grocery store this afternoon. Hell I tell my car insurance company my every move in an attempt to save a few hundred bucks. If you don't want to be traced use a burner phone when conducting those activities. Wearing a mask does not cure or prevent COVID but it does reduce the chances of getting it. I would think that concept is an easy one. A friend of mine is begging people to come back to work and they refuse, not because of COVID but because of the government paying people to remain unemployed. I am really starting to fear for this world.

I find the whole not wearing a mask thing rather amazing to me.
