Crede....
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) I was thinking this to. Boras is a "Chicago legend" in BorASS's eyes. When BorASS asks for $8mil per year in December. Joe will have to be getting measured for his Tampa Bay uniform. Tack a world series and any sort of decent performance and 8 mil won't be the asking price. It may be the ending price.

Fee not paid, firefighters let home burn.
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Quid pro quo is fine and good, but there's no obligation to help someone who only looks out for his own quid. There was a day in America where we helped out of altruism. We didn't look for something in return, we didn't look to see if they had contributed in the past. We helped because it was the right thing to do. It was one of the things that seperated us from other societies. We gave of ourselves, we didn't keep track of credits and debits.

In today's Des Moines Register
I was wearing my 1919 road gray cap by the 9th inning. I had one by one tossed them aside, trying to find the correct rally cap. I forgot about the significance until Cheat's shop-job. What sucks is after we attract all the casual Cub fans to Cominsky, they'll take up collections to get poor Joe some shoes

My take....
It's killing me not being able to get to the playoff games. I'm pulling for Houston, where I can attend a couple games. Thanks for the post

Dropped 3rd rule.
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Well I know that, but the question was "Why". I was looking for a reason, such as with the infield fly being like it is to prevent the set-up for the double play and tricking the batter and runners. That's all. If you look at the fielding stats, the catcher is credited with the PO on strike outs. Konerko leads the team, but AJ is tied with Gooch for second. Sometimes, when explaining the rule, that helps.

Crede....
This goes to show that even very good posters sometimes are at odds with each other. Far easier to resolve when it's good vs. evil.

Crede....
Careful guys, this is very close to the policy line. Sounds like a simmering issue. May I suggest the ignore feature?

Dropped 3rd rule.
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) But why does the batter get to run on the drop? The put out is recorded by the catcher who completes the play. The swing and a miss is only part of the play, just like grounding to the second baseman is only part of a routine out at first. The offensive team has to complete the play, which is either the catcher catching the ball, or the batter/runner being tagged out. Continuing the analogy, the first baseman could drop the throw from second but could still pick up the ball and tag the runner or base on the force. Clearer?

What's being overlooked
QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) I saw the edit, and should have been more specific. I wasn't attacking members here, but rather the sports radio blowhards. I figured as much. No harm, no foul. If you like, edit your post and take out the notice.

What's being overlooked
QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) How so? If AJ is called out, it goes to extra innings. Do you have a crystal ball to know what would have happened? Is it the asshole part? We're not allowed to cuss here now? Calling fellow posters assholes is not allowed.

John Cusack at Game 2
QUOTE(shakes @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) He keeps switching sides, he has no Class. I guess we're saying he isn't America's Sweetheart anymore? And before anyone mentions it, I know it's been One Crazy Summer

Dropped 3rd rule.
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) First base has to be open unless there is two outs. If there is two outs, the batter-runner gets the opportunity to advance to first regardless. And the defense would have the opportunity to throw out any runner? Is it a force at second?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Can somebody explain the purpose of the rule? Somebody was just asking me and all I could really say was "it just is...". It's not like the Infield Fly where there is a logical reason for it, from what I can tell. What exactly is the purpose? Great question. Just like the first baseman has to catch the ball on a force and touch the base, the play is completed when the ball is secured by the other team. The "out play" is a thrown between the pitcher and catcher. I forget about what happens when a runner is at first. Doesn't 1st have to be open?- Crede....
In the postseason, Crede is comparing himself very well to A-Rod who not exactly Mr. October . . .- Official ruling
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Thanks, Tex, I'm going to go ahead and take a look. I really have to give it to the guys. There have been some fantastic baseball discussions going since we reached the playoffs. I have to be honest, I was expecting the polar opposite. Hats off, Soxtalk. It really is threads like this that make me appreciate this place. I have to read every thread, but cringe when I see 100 posts that fast, because usually someone is pissed. Instead my opinion of the call and confusion changed three times in the first 50 posts.- Reporter for WCKG gives rude awakening

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Not as such, No. What'd I get myself in to? Go back, this may be the best soxtalk discussion ever. Great points on bot sides.- Where Sciocia really screwed up
Where did you read that? Spot on mate - Dropped 3rd rule.
