  1. Be in a relationship with a member and you are in. Who doesn't like a person in uniform My future son-in-law works there and recently helped a couple who are not allowed to be married in their state. They jointly qualified for all benefits.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) He also said "there are no charges", but there IS a taped phone call where the wife admits he did it!! I'm a little uncomfortable with that recording. There are erased portions and who knows how it may have been edited. Not saying he didn't do it, or that it isn't necessarily not valid, but it isn't 100% reliable.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) I would answer with MF Global and UBS. What I am suggesting is the longer the law is in place, the less likely there will be another MF Global. As the industry and regulators get better at administering the law, the higher the compliance will be.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) Yes I know it was Energy, I just couldn't resist the joke. And you are missing my point. I didn't say the result is good. I am saying that Rick Perry is thinking people are gullible, and that they'll actually believe it is even possible for him to get rid of entire agencies of government like that. It plays well short run, but then falls apart. Gingrich is smarter than that. That's what I'm saying. I believe a candidate should share their greater vision, the end point they are seeking. We should know the realities and how far they will actual get. It's the same thing I said when people talked about Obama not reaching all his goals. I want to see their greater vision, not the baby steps. Let me know what slippery slope you are taking us on.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) It is hugely expensive. And we have had plenty of accounting fraud since then. V, have you ever heard of Refco for example? MF Global? Isn't it also a situation where the longer the law is in affect, the better the results? Honest question.
  6. QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Really, Boeheim? This is what you want to say? "I do my job. What happened on my watch, we will see. When the investigation is done, we will find out what happened on my watch." (emphasis added) I'm not sure if I could come up with a greater combination of snark, pomposity and arrogance if I tried for a thousand years. I didn't see it, I am only reading this excerpt. It sounds like he is saying he doesn't know of any, but realizes an investigation might show what happened while he was in charge. And investigating people that work under you is probably not his omost people's jobs. I keep thinking about people that I supervised and would I have known what they do in their off time.
  7. Welcome to December Eve
  8. I just found out my new bank, USAA, makes transfering auto drafts easy as can be. On their web site are hundreds and hundreds of businesses, click on the ones you have accounts with, and it happens automatically. Sweet!
  9. And one more thing about Mark, whomever signs him, he will give 100%, just like always.
  10. It does seem that Mark has become the first domino that will fall then a bunch of signing right after.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) This thread has never been about an honest discussion of the GOP candidates here. What would change?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) Turning this around on who I support doesn't change anything here. So what do you want in this thread and we'll try and deliver it for you. Perhaps we should be more like the candidates themselves and just point out each candidate's strengths and never discuss a candidate's weaknesses.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah, you have been talking about Perry for two years now, that is for sure... Name another GOP candidate that would be more in line with my beliefs? On the GOP side I have supported McCain and Perry. Both are better matched with my views than the others. Or as close as a Rep can get.
  14. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) What about it do you like? For the record, IMO all the GOP plans are garbarge that don't deal with "the problem". Not sending them back. Educating the children of illegals, just like everyone else. Working towards legal status.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Don't hand me the Perry crap. Please do not insult me like that. I've been talking up Perry as my favorite GOP candidate for two years. Y'all told me no way he'll even run. Immigration is a hot issue with me, name another GOP candidate that has a position more in line with mine? Name another GOP candidate that is pro balanced budget, even willing to tax people to get there? Which GOP candidate would be a better fit with my views? Newt? Romney?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) That's the entire problem with this thread in a nutshell. That who ya got isn't 400 pages and the news is two pages?
  17. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/28412...-katrina-trinko BTW, Major endorsement for Perry. Of the front runners, I like Perry's immigration plan the best. It is nice to even far right conservatives will endorse him.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Sure. If people stop pretending that this thread ever actually was intended to discuss the GOP Nomination. I started the thread as a catch all for the nomination, if anyone here knows why the thread was started it is me and it was not to bash candidates. It also wasn't meant as a cheerleading platform.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) The whole point of this thread was to paint the GOP in the worst possible light, which was my statement from the beginning. Only negative stories get posted. The idea was to have talk about the GOP candidates not completely by people who are actively working to see them fail. Instead that is exactly what this thread turned into. So you can post this but not positive stories? I've posted plenty of positive stories about Perry and guess who criticized them the fastest? Kap, one of the liberal posters. This race has been about candidates surging to the lead then falling back. As much as I would have prefered we not talk about Perry forgetting the third department, it is relevant. It was his mistake. The people who came forward about Cain, wasn't anyone's fault here, but we rightfully talked about it. Cain coming up with his 9-9-9 tax plan from playing a video game is something to talk about.
  20. I'm sorry SS but have you suddenly forgotten how to post something? I haven't paid attention to a newspaper's endorsement in ages, so I didn't consider it bad news for my candidate. And how do you call it "good news"?
  21. Solitude sucks
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I think you are right about handling the final say on Mark, but I stick by my general point, that KW has to move some salary off first. I think that would make it easier to approve, but JR may authorize it anyway. Which leads to an interesting gambit by K-Dub. If you think you will have Mark regardless of dumping any salary, does he try and keep pieces in place, this having his cake and eating it too?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) The situations really aren't comparable. No but Mark hits like Dunn
  24. In a bit of poetic license I am now predicting a 4/$56 contract for Mark.
