  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) I'm surprised this thread hasn't blown up with posts this, because my Facebook is filled with them. I'm not going to state my opinion on the man, because it's simply too soon. But RIP nonetheless. There have been wayyyyy to many statuses about this, it's amazing how people just can't resist saying "Apple sucks" whenever they get a chance.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) Only KW knows for sure, but it will be a crime if CQ is traded Ugh, so false.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) Death of a legend who helped revolutionize the personal computer and entertainment in so many ways. RIP. I think people forget that he was a huge influence in Pixar becoming so great too.
  4. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) It's a relative term. He's still he youngest right? The average age for a MLB GM is probably 50 or so. Isn't Jon Daniels younger?

My apartment built a Keystone Throne out of 40 Keystone Light cases. $600 on my credit card now....
  8. Illinois ranked #16 in Coaches Poll, #19 in AP Poll. They can't overlook an away game in the Big Ten, but we should beat Indiana and go into the OSU game undefeated.

I just came in my pants after reading that!!!!
  10. Oh and Im curious to hear peoples favorite vodkas, I was wondering if there were any gems out there that are cheaper than the mainstream high end stuff like Goose (where my guess is that the bottle adds quite a bit of tax since I believe that still gets taxed like crazy too). For cheap vodka I tend to stick with Sobieski ($17 on sale for 1.75L is a steal imo), but my roommates like nicer stuff for when we want to be classier or other occasions. I tend to buy Goose, but even on sale it's like $24 for a fifth.
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Nope, just not understanding of how wealthy people have lost money. The usual response is "living within their means". That's not how people always go broke. Most people will never see $3.5 million in their lifetime, much less make it in ONE year.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Ummm... what's this thread about again? It obviously got on a tangent, but this is a topic that gets discussed quite a bit too. If the mods want to move it out of the thread that's fine, but it's not nearly as bad as some other tangents some threads have taken.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) That's short sighted. Some have lost it on investments, bad accountants. It's more difficult for an individual to keep track of that kind of money. Do you think they keep it in a checking account and wait for their daily email from Chase? Short sighted? You mean that it's not common sense to give a stranger millions of dollars when he promises a 20% return every year? These guys of course will have tons of people coming to them with investment opportunities, but if they were smart or had common sense they would follow the herd and put their money in say, I dunno, what investment professionals put money in, aka mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, bonds, etc. If you say that's not common sense than I disagree, when you train as a kid for a sport who do you look up to? Professional athletes. When you want to invest your money who do you look up to? Legitimate professional investment companies. And if they were smart they would diversify, or atleast have a savings account, so if the economy flopped or something they would have atleast enough to live off of. And yes, I do put that on them if they don't keep track of their expenditures. If you don't know your own finances then you're setting yourself up to lose them.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) How many times has an option team won the Big Ten? You can generate alot of running yards at times, but the offense just isnt very effective in the conference. Michigan racked up alot of yards with their offense until conference play started and then their numbers went down considerably. Illinois has had the luxury of several NFL running backs. And in the Rose Bowl in 2008 the option was stopped almost every time, fortunately Mendenhall was able to do something but it can be the most obvious play to defend vs. if that's all you do well.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Well isn't that compassionate of u? Really, you would seek sympathy if you blew a $3.5 million salary?? I understand some people don't have the best education in how to invest and spend the money, but it should be common sense to anybody that you have X amount of money, therefore you can only spend X amount of money before it's gone. $3.5 million is a lot of money, it would take multiple screwups before that person was in really deep s***, and they should've learned their lesson by then.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) You don't really hear Martinez connection with the Red Sox job, maybe he isn't THAT HOT of a commodity. If rumors are true that they are deciding the fate of Epstein, then it makes complete sense that they aren't going after anybody yet.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) Um...Illinois has been running a ton of option since Zook got to Illinois and we have led the Big 10 in rushing over the last 3 years. The read option is very effective in the Big 10. Michigan scored a ton of points last year running the option. You just have to have the threat of throwing as well. Effective with the right players, and play calling, and it can be done anywhere. That wasn't the case today for Illinois, at least we adjusted before it was to late (and just barely).
  18. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Yeah when Northwestern can shutdown the run option I think that shows it isn't legit unless you have first round talent at RB position(Rashard Mendenhall). Yup, NW made it obvious you can shut down the option fairly easily with what we have running out there currently. I think it's safe to say Wisconsin is easily the class of the Big Ten this year. I just hope they slip up somewhere and the Illini can take advantage of a home game vs. them.
  19. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) I was torn for just these reasons for about a minute. Go Huskers. Yea I settled on wanting a chance at a division title.
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) He had a huge game largely because NU contantly had poor positioning/blown coverages/awful matchups. His first TD he was covered by a linebacker with no help over the top. It was pretty obvious that no one knew who was supposed to cover him on that 50 yard TD. There were several plays where they expected a safety playing the middle to cover him one on one on a corner route (admittedly I'm not sure all of those were Jenkins). Even when he was covered by an actual cornerback, for some reason it was always Matthews, who isn't very good and a far inferior option to Maybin. Yes, he's a good receiver, but the Wildcats put up very little resistance in coverage. Yea they definitely didn't play him perfectly, that's for sure. But just look at his first TD, that's why he is one of the best in the Big Ten.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) I think the casting makes sense. She's not suppose to be sexy or glamorous. Saw someone earlier post they are more excited about Walking Dead than Dexter. Come in, folks. I like Walking Dead enough to keep watch but while Dexter last season was lackluster, it wasn't bad enough to get down on after 4 great seasons before. Walking Dead still has to pull me in. It was all over last year. I hope it gets real good because their is room on tv for the premise. The season finale also left a bad taste in my mouth. I totally get that, but they portray her to be beautiful in some scenes, especially with the whole Pete affair thing. I for one am pumped for Walking Dead and not Dexter because I never got into Dexter after the few episodes I saw awhile ago.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) As long as you didn't pay $50 for it, hit it cleanup for a good portion of August, and pretend that you didn't have better beer sitting on the bench hitting home runs every time it gets an at bat.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Worst post ever. Beer snobs should be removed from earth. I can enjoy the best of beers with beer snobs, but if Im just getting s***ty Im drinking Keystone Light all day (or whatever else comes in a 30 rack for less than $15).
  24. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) I was thinking the same thing when it happened. AWFUL pass coverage, just a ton of plays where there was no one within five yards of the receiver. Jenkins was on a tear that game too though, like I mentioned earlier, he can break away from most CB's.
  25. I don't know who to root for in this game, I want Nebraska to give Wisconsin a loss to help Illinois but I want Wisconsin to send a message to Nebraska that this is the Big Ten and it's not that easy to just come into our league.
