  1. This is true. Anybody think that maybe they would do a Crede and Garland for Johnson/Wilkerson and Ayala deal, straight up(or maybe just for Wilkerson...I'm not sure)? Then Everett becomes expendable, and Wilkerson could become our fulltime RFer and potentially either become a #2 hitter or he could become like a #5 or #6. Basically, all he does is take over Valentin's role in the lineup, only he's supposed to do it better then Valentin(better average, better power, better RBI numbers, better numbers against atleast LHP, and preferably RHP too, along with being a good OB type guy).
  2. Here's the thing I find VERY interesting. Carl Pavano is having an excellent year this year...and people tend to think he will continue this success for quite a few years, and while they may not be wrong...some of these people are the SAME people who are saying not to give Adrian Beltre the big bucks because he's in a contract year. Uh...hello? Carl Pavano should be as scary to anyone as Adrian Beltre...if signing Beltre scares you, Pavano should(and it works the other way too).
  3. Madritsch...is he the Native American player? If that is who it is...he looks like he could be a decent pitcher someday.
  4. Way to go Baj. Now go light up the league Francisco Rodriguez style!
  5. And which rule is it that prevents us from trading Everett?
  6. If we just need someone to call up and eat some innings...what about Eduardo Villacis? I know that we claimed him off waivers from KC earlier this year, and that he really is not a big time prospect...but it could not cost the team an option, and he'd just be an extra arm if we needed it.
  7. Dude, you know what's crazy? I'm a prep, and I agree 100% with exactly what you just said. I can think of a great example today. In pre-calc today, our teacher explained something very easy to the class and you'd have to be stupid NOT to know what she was talking about, and at the end of it she said "Does everyone get it?" and with the way she said it, it seemed like a rhetorical question...very easy lesson, and you really should have no problem with it. Then a kid like you described, who had his head down like the entire period, just yells "NO!", and others did laugh. I wanted to go over to him and just tell him to STFU, but decided it was against my best interest to.
  8. We do already have Maggs and Jose's money from this year spent on others as SS2k pointed out for Contreras, Garcia, and Everett...but we also have Koch's, Scho's, and Elo's contracts coming off the hooks too...that's about another $12 mill right there. However...off the top of my head...we already have roughly $61 mill committed to the team next year, and that's really only players who have a contract with the Sox.* Even if JR opens up the wallet to let our payroll be in the $70-75 range(or higher)...that may give us like $10-15 mill($20 mill at the very most) to spend on FA's. * - the figures I used were this, and they could be wrong. Buehrle $5.5 mill, Contreras $6 mill, Garcia $8 mill, Garland $3 mill, Shingo $2.5 mill, Marte $1.5 mill, Adkins and Cotts a combined $1 mill, Konerko $8.5 mill, Lee $9 mill, Rowand $1 mill, Everett $4 mill, Thomas $8 mill, and Gload, Burke, Uribe, Harris, and Crede a combined $3 mill. Some are just estimates, and some won't be with the team next year...but those are the ones I figure will be with the team next year, with the biggest potential exceptions being Crede and Garland.
  9. I can't disagree. I'm just not sure who to bring up. Guess that's why I'm not GM, huh?
  10. Good. Any work these two get is good work at this point. Let them mature into the pitcher's they will become.
  11. You don't just throw someone in as a closer or a setup guy and expect all will be well...it just doesn't work that way. He'd be used as a middle reliever, and then from the results, he would either be promoted, demoted, or he would remain in his role. Personally...I think the Sox should look to Montreal/wherever the hell else they will play and see if a deal couldn't be worked between the two...they've worked together before(Colon for El Duque, Biddle, and Liefer, and then Rauch and Majewski for Everett), so I don't see why it couldn't happen again. Montreal is always looking for cheap, young talent, because it is cheap...and they could use a future 3Bman and a cheap starter(Crede and Garland).
  12. She is thick. There's nothing wrong with thick girls. So she is hot
  13. Not worried in the least. Give him the rest of the year off, and we are fine. If it were his elbow/shoulder/knee/achilles...then I'd be s***ting myself.
  14. I would vote for Willie Harris Seriously, the only other person who could give him a run for his money in that title is Davis and Harris and(*potential personal attack coming* ) only a homer would vote for them over Rowand.
  15. I like him against RHP But his .124 average in July and his .187 average in August are inexcusable. I love the guy as a player...he plays his ass off, is a smart player, is a clutch player, and is very underrated defensively(people too often look at his errors and do not realize that he is among the league's leaders in both range factor and zone rating), and he would probably give his left nut for this franchise...but it could be, and probably is, time for a change If this really is Jose's last year as a member of the Sox...it has been a good run for him. He's been a hell of a player for us.
  16. My first day of school sucked. But maybe that's because I'm not a big fan of school. Only about 168 days left...LOL
  17. You mean like he was against those super Expos?
  18. Adkins is not a starter. He does not have starter stuff, and he doesn't have the stamina to become a starter. With his stuff, he's better suited for middle relief/setup. I for one do not want to see Jon Adkins start a game for us ever. I wouldn't mind seeing Cotts, Diaz, Grilli, and maybe even Munoz getting a couple starts in September though.
  19. I'd take Pedro and Schilling too. But the Twins are a team that is very well contructed from top to bottom, and they are built for winning at all times, even in the postseason. That pen they have is pretty nasty at times. Let me just say that you should not be surprised if they were to win it all.
  20. Agreed. Johan Santana has been "lights out" the past 3 months.
  21. Like either last year or the year before, Baltimore last something like 32 of their last 36, or in other words, they had a winning percentage of .111. With that rotation, we could have a worse finish to the year then Baltimore did. But I'm almost to the point where I'd rather do that, and get a higher draft pick then I would want to compete and get another mid-first round draft choice and get a player who will not be an impact player.
