Paid off for Dayton Moore so well it finally got him launched. He did have Witt Jr. and Singer at least. -

Rodon ironically has one great season after being given up for dead...but then nothing in return to show for it. Hendriks and Anderson as well. It's actually pretty darned remarkable. Basically, Grandal Kimbrel Keuchel Lynn Benintendi Pollock all fell apart completely. The anti-Orioles. They even made the right call on Abreu. Didn't really matter, because they're just wasting money again churning through the roster paying lip service to competing when most Royals fans are just scoffing at our so-called plan to emulate a niche model a decade too late. Watch the watch Sox manage to finish last in stolen bases, though. -

Herrera still out there, again. Wade Davis or Greg Holland? -

Milk and cookies team on the deck. Need Mike Sweeney in some type of advisory/leadership role but will be outbid by KC. -

Would rather watch Takatsu. Other than Fedde and no Sal Perez...one of the most predictable and disappointing offseason in ages. One of the many reasons Padres were 9-23 in one run games and one maybe one extra inning game win the entire season. That was with Hader at the back end. Must have zero confidence in Crochet or Banks. So this is the solution lol. -

Yet they didn't bring back Shaw...who deserved it more than anyone. -
“But at the end of the day we felt we needed more depth with a guy like Martin Maldonado, who is one of the elite catch-and-throw guys in the league. We think his power still has some potential as well. His power numbers increased in the second half last year (2018). We like that. We really like the fact he can shut down a running game and give our pitchers a lot of confidence.” Quote from Dayton Moore on the 33 year-old Maldonado coming to replace injured Sal Perez prior to 2019. Hilarious ChatGPT article https://bvmsports.com/2023/12/28/martin-maldonado-from-kc-royals-to-chicago-white-sox/ The signing of Martín Maldonado and the pattern of former Royals personnel joining the White Sox highlight the interconnectedness of teams in Major League Baseball and the impact of personnel movements on team dynamics and culture. By the Numbers Martín Maldonado signs a one-year $4 million contract with a 2025 vesting option worth an equal amount At least eight former Royals, including Chris Getz and Pedro Grifol, are part of the Chicago White Sox organization State of Play Martín Maldonado joins a growing list of former KC Royals personnel who have moved to the White Sox The interconnectedness of teams and the influence of personnel moves on team dynamics is evident Pedro Grifol's first season as the manager of the White Sox did not produce desired results, which may impact the decision on his future

1/9/24 Update: Wander Franco to face lesser charges

What are authorities hoping to gain from searching properties 4-5 months later, after the scandal broke and he had plenty of time to come up with a legal defense? CYA? -
They must have missed the AJ podcasts, Middleton, Lance Lynn, TA7 cryptic tweets, who else trashed the Sox last year?...missing a couple. That was after a year of TLR national ridicule.
-
Then why hold onto Robert...because he similarly fell off quite a bit down the stretch, if not injuries/increasingly lackadaisical play that cost him the GG??? I would tend to err on the side of giving guys like Cease or Robert the benefit of the doubt...it was a horrific environment for vets and rookies alike last year, partially due to Grifol and partially due to the power vacuum in the organization that was developing.

That's the centerpiece trade for "average/mediocre" Getz's GM tenure so far. It improved the White Sox in theory...but none of those players were likely to make the Braves and they were going to cost $10-12 million or whatever their price tag. Mostly, change of scenery Matty Thornton/Damaso Marte type move for ATL. And dumping the bottom of the roster off on someone else who has better use for them, probably.
-
Maybe not for one of the worst Sox defenses in recent memory. Look at Bummer still being in demand with an ERA in that same/similar neighborhood, or Lynn for most of his time with the Dodgers outperforming Sox numbers by far.
-
Would have to look at his numbers with different catchers down the stretch. Especially Lee, but I wasn't even following the team then to know if he stuck with his regular catcher or they switched it up or not.
-
Dodgers care less about the money/salary aspect and would seemingly prefer holding on to their prospects, a one year deal for Bieber at the moment.

There's this hot OC on the open market right now...last name Ferentz. That still could be better than McDaniels. -
The number of playoff appearances he can make for acquiring club and/or his health blows up if you hold onto him into June/July...doomsday scenario.

SF just signed JungHo Lee to play CF, where his value is surely the highest. And they don't have a great farm to deal with, either. Seattle certainly has a need but putting Julio Rodriguez or Robert on a corner diminishes their value. I guess Julio with the stronger arm would move to RF and that would be slightly less wear and tear on his body, overall. And it's not like the White Sox are going to trade for Gilbert or Kirby...they're going to want near major league-ready guys. To make it work, though, Getz would have to take one of those pitchers back plus the AA/AAA prospects.
