  1. Corbin Carroll would be a superstar on the East Coast or even the Cubs. Hazen has done an excellent job turning that franchise around in the face of LAD SFG SDP. And adding Zac Gallen was one of the better moves in recent years.
  2. We can just pretend that Watson was the one responsible for the Cole Ragans move with the Rangers for Chapman... Royals’ evaluation took note of one big positive Royals pitching coach Brian Sweeney heard one central theme from opposing teams when discussing Ragans’ rise in the organization. The theme was simply: Ragans is a force to be reckoned with. Sweeney said the Royals did their homework on Ragans. They evaluated his entire makeup prior to acquiring him from the Rangers. The process took a couple of days, as the Royals studied different domains. The Royals explored his medicals, strength and conditioning, nutrition and mental health. The organization also utilized sports-science data and explored his pitching delivery. The process gave the organization a complete evaluation of Ragans as an athlete and person. Next, the Royals dived into his pitching arsenal and plan of attack. Previously, Ragans has thrown a four-seam fastball, changeup, cutter, slider and curveball. Perhaps most importantly, the Royals noticed an increase in Ragans’ fastball velocity. His fastball jumped from 92.1 mph in 2022 to 96.2 mph this season. Ragans ranks in the 89th percentile in fastball spin, per Baseball Savant. As a result, Royals general manager J.J. Picollo and his staff came to a decision. The consensus was Ragans was the guy to pursue. Read more at: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansas-city-royals/article278117072.html#storylink=cpy
  3. And whether that's a sign that Katz might likely to be on the way back to the West Coast and/or wherever Flaherty or Giolito end up.
  4. Interesting that Barfield didn't first wait to see if Hazen was able to secure the Red Sox job...
  5. Maye just has never added up to the sum of all his parts...and one can never really trust that UNC team to show up in big games. Williams or just for now. Ewers and now Deion's son are potentially 3/4 at this point. McCarthy around QB5? Young is looking too undersized for now with Carolina...he is more of a precision passer than a Josh Allen type and that only works in a scheme perfectly aligned with his talents.
  6. Vera isn't trending well at all either. The Cuban Connection finally evaporated. And the Dominican Connection has maxed out at Dave Wilder and Jesus Pena.
  7. Except they can't guarantee Top 3-5 picks year after year with the new rules. Just #3/4 in 2024. 2025 they wouldn't be allowed to draft in the Top Ten assuming they're 90+ losses bad again next year. And they almost never make the ideal draft picks anyway...wit's the exceptions of Sale and Anderson in a decade plus of picking relatively high. I guess Rodon had his two years...one with the Sox and one with SFG.
  8. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=bauer-000tre I went to the far right because that's usually ERA. At any rate, the game I watched in July he was terrible and disinterested. He has done much better since that start. But it's the equivalent of the Bears bring in Mel Tucker Jr. to coach. It's just never going to happen. That said...they would have to win. Period. If it backfired...they would risk losing viability as a franchise in Chicago without a new stadium plan or ownership group.
  9. 4.71 ERA in Japan for Bauer hardly screams move that will instantly move the White Sox back into contention...
  10. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/jacob-gonzalezs-potential-impact-on-white-sox-shortstop-situation/ Looks like they were looking mostly at players that profiled at SS / 3B / 2B.
  11. https://sports.yahoo.com/red-sox-want-hit-home-181532764.html Mike Hazen of AZ emerging as yet another top candidate for Boston GM job
  12. The annual average salary for those who coach women's teams is $64,262 and the average for those who coach men's is $114,237 Ball State University (State) head baseball coach salary GovSalaries https://govsalaries.com › salaries › ball-state-university... The average Ball State University (State) head baseball coach salary was $285,801, which is 22 percent higher than the average salary for this job in Indiana, ... Said the Top 25% pitching coach salary was $60-75,000, but that seems too low. $85-115+ seems closer to being right for Div 1. The annual average salary for those who coach women's teams is $64,262 and the average for those who coach men's is $114,237. Definitely much better than a White Sox scouting salary.

  15. What's the modern-day record for fastest GM to get fired? I guess one of those guys like Jared Porter with the Mets.... But I mean someone who actually got started on the job and was fired due to "baseball-related" incompetence?
  16. Bauer hasn't looked all that great in Japan... So basically you're sending what type of marketing message to female fans of the White Sox? It really doesn't matter, because threatening to blow up your entire clubhouse/chemistry when you have just spent the last 2-3 years dealing with precisely this issue on an everyday basis seems to be the definition of insanity.
  17. And where is the scout who signed the anomalous Montgomery?? No longer with the White Sox, of course But interesting he was a pitcher. Justin Wechsler was named the pitching coach in June of 2023. He begins his first season as an assistant coach in 2024. Wechsler is no stranger to Ball State, as he was a pitcher for the Cardinals from 1999-2001. Definitely knows the state of Indiana… Justin Wechsler Position: Pitcher Bats: Right • Throws: Right 6-0, 255lb (183cm, 115kg) Born: April 6, 1980 (Age: 43-166d) in Anderson, IN us Draft: Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th round of the 2001 MLB June Amateur Draft from Ball State University (Muncie, IN). High School: Pendleton Heights HS (Pendleton, IN) School: Ball State University (Muncie, IN) Full Name: Justin Andrew Wechsler Pronunciation: \WECKS-ler\ View Player Info from the B-R Bullpen
  18. 2001/2002/2004 all had numbers in the 30 millions or close. 2001 peaked at 39 million for Game 7, but the rating/share was 23.5/34. Surely the audience has become more fragmented when comparing cable and satellite options versus what was once just 2-3 national television channels in CBS NBC then ABC. It's much more relevant to compare the NBA and MLB based on length of series and the singular marketing phenomenon which are the Super Bowl ads and half time performance. The NBA is less profitable but arguably more popular but MLB wins the revenue battle by $14 vs. $12 billion. NFL at $25 billion nearly doubling both leagues
  19. Rockies have played well recently...well, comparatively.
  20. Sounds like most of the 2000's and early 2010s when we kept drafting football players such as Courtney Hawkins and Keenyn Walker and trying to refine them into baseball players.
  21. Because the value is more as a running back somewhere under Bijan Robinson...
  22. With the White Sox...about as good as any of the 23-24 Bears. Would fit in quite well. Guess we can't overreact on DJ Moore since the QB can't consistently get him the ball. Unless he's on your fantasy team.
  23. Fields is closer to Jalen Milroe or Joe Milton of TN. Secondly, amazing how many QBs have OU/Riley or Bama ties in the NFL right now. Mayfield Murray Hurts Williams (Alas no Rattler.)
