  1. Feb 2021 when they re-signed for another decade seems twenty Sox lifetimes ago. But does back all the way to 1999.
  2. Well, it's going to stay with Gordon whether you like it or not...especially when he starts working "under" Getz as a broadcaster. 2011? That's the kind of thing kids would joke about in the 1980s or early 90s. Hence his being forced to quickly apologize. Balta definitely will have an opinion here, lol. At any rate, it sounds like a likely defense from a drunken yuppie stockbroker situated in the Wrigley bleachers...who was undoubtedly in a frat as well.
  3. Well, we do have Luis Robert, Jr., and....uhm. Never mind.
  4. "Getz is gay!" Nice job jackass Gordon Beckham. https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/gordon-beckham-apologizes-for-writing-getz-is-gay-in-dirt-picture/76441
  5. Not George Armstrong Custer?
  6. The Chris Getz White Sox refuse to not lose. They staked a 6-0 lead with Dylan Cease on the mound, then watched the Royals bleed it dry over the final seven innings. Gregory Santos allowed Bobby Witt Jr. to tie it with a one-out double, and although he got Salvador Perez to line out to short with the winning run on third, Santos then balked in the winning run for no good reason. The White Sox are now 0-5 since Chris Getz was named White Sox general manager, and it’s only getting funnier. Jim Margalus Sox Machine
  7. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?stats=bat&lg=all&type=8&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&pos=3b&qual=350&sortcol=21&sortdir=desc&pagenum=1 When the numbers come out this morning….sitting on pretty much the exact same stats as Max Muncy. 2.5-2.6 fWAR.
  8. Words never said about Chris Getz “He’s somebody you want to work with and you want to work for. He’s somebody that every day challenges the way you think in productive ways,” Arnold said. “He’s going to make any situation better wherever he ends up. “It’s probably the combination of both EQ and IQ honestly. He has this great feel with people and understanding and relates to a lot of people in a lot of different ways. And then he’s one of the smartest guys in the room at all times. “That’s a really dangerous combination.” nypost.com on former Brewers' GM David Stearns
  9. Isn't that going to make Getz look untruthful? Or he's just going to later say some gobbledygook about just trying to get through the front office transition...continuity or stability were most important in that moment for the major league roster to focus on....preparing for 2024, blah blah blah? Or like the dreaded vote of confidence for football and basketball coaches in mid-season?
  10. If anything, Charlotte would be looking for an affiliation agreement with another MLB team that's going to provide them much better talent/winning or post-season quality teams.
  11. The Ventura Years...
  12. Deion had claimed TWENTY years of coaching experience on FOX last weekend, but it's actually closer to 10+. If Deion Sanders can shock the world in Game 1, imagine what he can do with Colorado in the coming years (yahoo.com) Sanders has made an effort to coach at several different stops. His first coaching position in 2012, was with the charter school Prime Prep Academy, which he helped found. Sanders was later fired as the coach after CFO Kevin Johnson alleged Sanders assaulted him by grabbing him by the collar and pushing him against a wall. Sanders denied the claim, pleading no contest and later paying a $765.70 fine related to the charge. In 2015, Sanders was named the CEO of FOCUS Academies and granted the head coaching position at the Triple A academy, where Sanders led them to face his alma mater North Fort Myers High School in Florida, a game featuring a key matchup between several ranked recruits.[87] On August 17, 2017, it was announced by CBS Sports that Sanders would be switching coaching positions at a new high school to become the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill high school in Cedar Hill, Texas. The move was significant for Sanders, as both his sons played at the high school. Sanders served on the staff as offensive coordinator under former Dallas Cowboy Aveion Cason.[88] While continuing to work as an NFL analyst, Sanders became the head coach for the Prime Prep Academy which he co-founded. He stayed as the head coach for 2012 and 2013. In 2015, he was hired as the head coach for Triple A Academy where he was the coach for two seasons. In 2017, he became the offensive coordinator for Trinity Christian High School giving him the opportunity to coach his sons Shilo and Shedeur.[40]
  13. Or the ACC...with SMU. Colorado at 22nd/25th in the two polls. Bumped out Iowa, haha
  14. Well Ron, I know the Cubs are soaking up all your attention, but the game was actually held in KC... 2023 MLB Attendance - Major League Baseball - ESPN White Sox are currently 24th, just ahead of Detroit...KC is 28th.
  15. 10,395...going for under 10K on WED.
  16. Is that actually a positive anymore?
  17. Of course, the Cubs were in the process of turning a 6-4 deficit into a 10-6 lead at almost exactly the same time... Hopefully the Giants will take Bellinger off their hands at least, although odds of that long-term contract working out are 50/50 at best.
  18. Team Blown Saves Save Opportunities Rockies 27 52 White Sox 27 50 Rangers 26 52 Twins 26 57 54% failure rate...once upon a time, elite closers use to be at 90% or at least 85%. Obviously the team blown saves encompasses a lot of other crappy relievers...although we did have the most expensive bullpen in baseball until the trade deadline at least. Of course, Hendriks being out hasn't helped matters.
  19. You looked at the score closing all game long and just had a feeling that the bullpen wasn't going to be up to the task (yet again).
  20. Well, losing on a balk is highly creative/imaginative at least... Getz/Grifol is now, what, 4-10?
  21. Yet another massive issue for Getz next year. If the bullpen/defense continues to give up leads, it's going to eat away like a cancer. They're certainly not going to keep Hendriks with all the uncertainty surrounding his health...so you're left with the same suspects like Bummer and Crochet again, while his health lasts.
  22. Let's see if Santos can extricate himself with a Houdini act here...
  23. I lived in Kansas City from 1997 through 2007 (minus one year in Colombia), so I can fairly confidently say the one I always went to west of State Line one in Mission and it was definitely called Oklahoma Joe's by everyone. At that point, KC Masterpiece was still a thing (they closed their Country Club Plaza restaurant during this period, founder Dr. Rich Davis was on our non-profit BoD) and so were Gates and Arthur Bryant's.
  24. Marlins rallying to another victory over the Dodgers (well, hopefully) in the bottom of the 8th in MIA. 6-3 lead now. Bryan de la Cruz and former Sox trade target Jazz Chisholm back-to-back bombs. Burger was on base with a HBP. 838 OPS
