  1. Here's the problem with the White Sox and what I believe happened. Kenny and Hahn were not going to get fired in season, but after the deadline things got so bad that JR was finally forced to do it now. Pedro and his buddies weren't going to be fired in season either, but then they lose 21 games in a row and again JR is forced to make a decision now instead of waiting. There is no other plausible reason why you would let someone run your trade deadline and then fire them a few weeks later. Same deal with the Vargas thing where apparently someone suggested him and then was promptly fired a few weeks later.
  2. Which do you think is more likely; the Marlins chose to not make Burger available as he is a piece they want to build around OR his atrocious performance to date coupled with his age, streakiness, injury history and positional flexibility netted little interest? I think the safe assumption is the latter.
  3. Seriously, he has 23 HR's total in the last 3 seasons combined.
  4. Yeah, the return on that trade doesn't look great at the moment. Either way, you just saw the Marlins have a complete fire sale at the deadline and my guess is there weren't many takers for a streaky 28 year old DH who was terrible up to that point.
  5. Ok fine, he has a 1.3 fWAR. This is still not great. Being Mike Trout for 28 days doesn't erase the previous 90 days from existence. The Fletcher trade really has nothing to do with Jake Burger. They don't play the same position, they aren't even remotely similar as players, and it was two different regimes. That trade sucked too by the way. The fact remains, Jake Burger on the 2024 White Sox doesn't change the outcome of this season one bit. Jake Burger would never have seen the next competitive Sox team no matter what.
  6. Jake Burger has 0.7 bWAR on the year. This includes this stretch for the last 28 days where he has had a 1.200 OPS. If he wasn't traded last deadline, he would have been traded this off-season/deadline. If he wasn't traded this deadline, he would have been traded next off-season/deadline. There is no scenario, ever, where Jake Burger is a building block for this team. 100 loss teams don't keep or build around 28 year old DH's.
  7. To the shock of no one, the Sox make a managerial change and the team starts playing better. Maybe if they had done this months ago we would only be looking at a bad season and not a historically bad season. Just add it to the list of bad decisions this franchise keeps making.
  8. Benintendi sucks, I wish they could strap him and Crochet onto a rocket and fire them into the sun for all I care.
  9. f*** off Garrett. This dude can’t be traded soon enough.
  10. How about just doing something different for fucks sake. They have 28 wins in August, just try different things already.
  11. Good thing we didn't waste this year...
  12. That team is going to be lucky to win 50 games when you consider the rotation will be total garbage and Robert gets dealt.
  13. I see a lot of people claiming this is a 40 win team.. that seems a little generous at this point.
  14. Im very interested in seeing the lineup. Is this actual change, or is it going to be the same horeshit we've seen all season. Theres no way Grady Sizemore, as a former OFer, can look at Sheets and say "Yeah, this is my RFer".
  15. That OPS number is misleading. He had a .790 OPS in June, a .658 OPS in July, and so far in a SSS in August its 1.166. I still think the best we can expect out of him is low .700's which I guess we would all take at this point.
  16. You guys need to remember that JR and Getz thought this team was going to be considerably better than last year which explains a lot of the moves they made on the front end. They really believed if they just made defensive changes that's all that was needed to start heading towards contention.
  17. We ended up getting Jose Valenin for this guy, who put up 16.9 bWAR over 5 seasons. I would say we came out pretty good for that 5 million.
  18. He's the worst signing in this franchises history, can't really compare him to other big time signings because the Sox don't swim in those waters so its not really apples to apples. His Sox career slash line is .243 / .303 / .657 with a whopping -1.7 bWAR
  19. Until proven otherwise, I have zero faith in this organization making the right hire.
  20. Its the same s%*# as last season where the inexplicably let Hahn and KW run the trade deadline, and THEN fired them a few weeks later.
  21. What the hell is going on here, that guy was halfway to 2B before the ball was even hit
  22. Someone needs to go out there to throw innings to get through the rest of this season, thats why hes here.
  23. WTF is Dominic Leone doing back here lol
  24. Yeah well that tends to happen when your favorite team is 60 games under .500 and on pace to be the worst team in baseball history.
