  1. Well, we have a year to figure it out. But I am hoping by the start of 2015 it can be Webb. I liked his stuff. Let Nate do set-up duties once we deal Lindstrom for some 'spects.
  2. I won't doubt Slick Rick on being a player for Tanaka simply because of his ninja sneak attack on Abreu. I'm not counting on it, but I'm crossing my fingers.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) Why would San Diego want De Aza? They have Quentin, Smith, Maybin, Denorfia, Venable, AND Blanks in the outfield already. They have Everth Cabrera at SS and Gyorko at 2B (for now), so Sanchez doesn't make a lot of sense either. I think it starts with Erik Johnson. You may be able to talk them down to something like Rienzo and Snodgress/Beck. I don't think it's worth it. Because I'm hoping rather than expecting. You're right, they don't have much use for De Aza, it's just wishful thinking.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) Saw a bunch of Xbox One's at Sams this weekend. Still haven't seen a PS4 anywhere. I'm not in the market for my PS4 yet, but yeah, I have yet to see one in the wild.
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) My sister and her husband live in Italy and they just bought an XBox One. We Skyped with them last night... Skype on XBox One is really sweet. The camera auto zooms to them, and follows them around the room if they get off the couch. Dang impressive. I'd love to buy a Kinect 2 and put it on my TV and connect it to a laptop. That is pretty cool actually.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) If Hahn can somehow manage to get Rosario or Grandal. This off season will be an easy A for me, if it isn't already. De Aza, Rienzo, Carlos Sanchez enough to get Grandal? I agree, adding Grandal would make me VERY optimistic for 2015.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 06:44 PM) CF - Gerardo Parra (L) SS - Alexei Ramirez RF - Avisail Garcia 1B - Jose Abreu C - Jarrod Saltalamachia (S) LF - Dayan Viciedo DH - Adam Dunn (L) 2B - Marcus Semien 3B - Matt Davidson I guessed the wrong Arizona CF though. And Salty can't happen.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) Is it accurate that Davidson's name was mentioned here for months, basically? I've said I've wanted him in just about every trade scenario I've thrown out since June. I thing I even put him in my suggested 2014 lineup a couple months ago. It was always Davidson and Parra. But I'll settle for Eaton, based on team control.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Great Homeland season finale Very bold move by them, although the writers may have been right when they said they tested this scenario midway through the season and the audience didn't seem to mind it much.
  10. So I graduated from college this weekend. That was cool I guess.
  11. Meh. Middlebrooks is an okay player, but nothing worth trading for. I'd honestly rather just have Gillaspie or Semien for a full year at 3B than give up anything of value for Middlebrooks. He is an average defender so far who hits for above average power, strikes out way more than he walks, and would hit in the .260-.275 range. He is projected for a 2.3-2.8 WAR season which is solid, but also calling for a VAST improvement over last year. That seems like an aggressive valuation.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Yawn at the irrelevant dead horse comment Lol.....
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) So I haven't listened to the interview, why is he cocky? In the interview he matter-of-factly states how he has been doubted every step in his career and he proves everyone wrong. How in rookie ball he told everyone he would hit .350, they laughed at him, and then he hit .380. He doesn't come off as a jerk about it, he just seems very very confident in himself, which may or may not be a bad thing. Obviously it was not a great thing for Beckham.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) I haven't even seen it, but anyone who thinks 12 Years A Slave won't win Best Picture is kidding themselves. White guilt, yo.
  15. Oh yeah, forgot to include this god damn project I just finished. 2 page magazine spread. Spent the last 4 hours just revising it and making it look nicer. I pretty much need like a 95% on this, and even then I may not pass the class. PS: I realize the body text and the words in the text box don't all end. It's just sample text, so it doesn't actually have to fit or make sense. It's also sample pictures, except for me cutting the people out and putting blue coloring in their instruments.
  16. Oh my lord, just finished a stupid magazine design project for my freshman level INTRO to design class. I just took this class as a blow off elective that would boost my Major GPA. Instead, I missed the first week of assignments (online class), and took some of the quizzes too nonchalantly, and now I am failing the class going in to this final (Anything under a 74% is failing. I have a 68%). I already took the written portion of the final and will end up with around a 72% on it. No idea how I did that bad, considering I looked up EVERY answer in the class materials. 43 question test that took me almost 2 hours because I took the time to look up every answer. Unbelievable that I didn't get at least a B+ on that. Damn trick questions.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) Totally okay with the cockiness, so long as he isn't an asshole. He doesn't appear to be. He seems to be able to walk that line appropriately. Unlike Brett Lawrie who is cocky and an asshole.
  18. I too would like Semien to start in AAA. Make him earn the job.
  19. QUOTE (StL @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 07:15 AM) Pete Rose is none to thrilled about the ruling: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mlb-intends-b...19721--mlb.html How bizzarre, those are the exact same points I made to a friend of mine who is all for this ruling. His answer was "you got to keep the players safe", so I said fine, then ban breaking up double plays at 2nd, make the batters wear shin guards and elbow pads, make the pitchers wear helmets, make every OF wall padded. There will always be things that are not safe for players to do, that doesn't mean it should be changed. There is a risk/reward for making millions upon millions of dollars each year. Don't want to risk getting run over? Don't block the plate. Or don't be catcher. Forfeit that contract and go be a real estate agent. Yes, some safety things like wearing helmets in the NFL and hockey are obvious because they don't change the game at all, but s*** like this annoys me.
  20. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) What is it the Sox have done that the Cubs haven't? I think Rick is doing a fine job and all, but I'm not sure what the Cubs have to do with anything. They're going about their rebuild differently, and in my opinion, it's going pretty well. Yeah, I envy the Cubs system, although some of it was happening prior to Hoyer coming in. So far I've loved the moves that Hoyer has done bringing in veterans on short deals and then dishing them off for a couple prospects here and there. It's an excellent plan for a rebuilding team that has some salary space to do that. It's essentially buying prospects, which is quicker than waiting for the draft every year and hoping you draft properly.
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) From what I read he'll actually be in ST.....I think it's pretty much 15K for the team to hang out with Russell Wilson in ST That's chump change. Wouldn't it be $25K? And I saw the Rangers GM say he would ASK Russell if he would come to ST, and the Seahawks would have to clear it. I do agree that for $25K it would be cool though.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:28 PM) I didn't think any of the guys in that film were very hot. I can see why girls love that Josh Hutcherson though. I envy his jawline. But back to the movie. Even after doing some internet digging and reading the part from the book (found it online), I still can't figure out why
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) I think the fact that it is "found footage" ruins it for a lot of people. I like the movie, but I understand. If you are running around when a massive creature is destroying the city around you, dropping off some sort of lice/creatures that will kill you, are you going to run around continuously filming? I liked the after credits scene, but I dont think Abrams is going to do anything with it Honestly, I think people would. We've seen amateur footage of gunfights and explosions when the person should have been taking cover or hiding. Now, I do think that concept of him filming everything would have been more believable if he was an aspiring videographer or video journalist, because IIRC, he was given the assignment to film the party and he really didn't want to do it. Or maybe I was thinking of TJ Miller's character? EDIT: Whilst checking the movie's IMDB page, I noticed Lizzy Caplan is the lead female. I'm a big fan of Master of Sex and I couldn't figure out what else I knew her in besides Party Down. Must have been Cloverfield.
  24. Just got back from seeing Hunger Games 2. I loved it. Easily the quickest 2 1/2 hour movie I've ever seen. A couple of things still confuse me about what happened, but I enjoyed it all. Pumped for how it ends.
  25. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) I loved Cloverfield. I hope Godzilla lives up to Cloverfield. ohh.... how about a Cloverfield/Godzilla Avengers style movie!? just kidding. I liked Cloverfield a lot too. Underrated movie I think.
