  1. I'm okay with this deal as long as it ends as with these guys and there are no prospects coming from the Sox. I don't love it, but I think it fills a need we had at CF while using surplus pitching we had.
  2. Lol, Jim Duquette on mlb.com right now saying he loves the deal for Arizona because Trumbo has so much power, and he doesn't like the deal for the Angels because Santiago is barely a #5 guy and Skaggs is a question mark. lol, f***ing idiot. And of course, he didn't mention anything about Adam Eaton. EDIT: Now the conversation has moved to Eaton. Duquette says he loves Eaton as a leadoff hitter, and likes the deal for the Sox. But of course this is all predicated on him saying Santiago is a fringe starter who can be replaced by a handful of people in the system.
  3. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) What are you talking about Beck showing no sign of hope? Please leave that name out of the rest of your group. Yeah, I don't want to move Beck at all. I put him up there with Erik and Micah and Semien and a couple others in the "for the love of god, don't move in this deal".
  4. Yeah, Santiago for Eaton straight up is kind of pushing it, but also throwing in a good prospect? I'm really getting nervous about this. I hope other moves are line-up maybe?
  5. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:27 AM) Agree to disagree I guess, but I think most people would say the Bears defense is missing the better players. I mean, that's fine. Last time I got in to a Cowboys discussion I got suspended, so I'll just agree to disagree and move on.
  6. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:14 AM) Who are they missing? The Bears are missing Briggs, DJ Williams, Peanut, Melton etc. Spencer, Hatcher, Lee, Claiborne, Sims, ect.
  7. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:06 AM) The Bears arent decimated with injuries? Not like the Cowboys are defensively, which is what I meant. Their offense is relatively healthy, just couldn't move the ball in the 2nd half for whatever reason.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) This makes me feel slightly better. Had I not have had a nice phone, I would have put it through the f***ing wall. I'm more mad about that than the Cowboys losing. Defense is decimated with injuries, there is nothing they could do. But that crushing loss in fantasy just boiled over for me. Thank god it wasn't a money league, I would have shredded apart my friend's house.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:52 PM) Yet I am sure ESPN will somehow blame Romo for this loss. Don't worry, ESPN and idiots on twitter are all over Romo, saying he choked somehow, saying how bad he sucks in December, ignoring how bad his defense is the fact that since 2009 he has 30 TD and 5 INT in December. Romo is probably the most underrated QB in football when you factor in how bad he is hated and treated for no reason. He gets credit for nothing, blame for everything.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:58 PM) f***ing Cowboys couldn't kick a chip soht FG or score one more TD.. I would've won. Instead I lose by .87 points, drop to 4th place and have to see the #1 seed. Might be a blessing in disguise though. AP might be out and his RBs (Bush, Moreno) are banged up. Should be interesting though and I'm not benching Decker this time! Oh cry me a f***ing river. I just lost by 0.32 points and have been eliminated from the playoffs because Kyle Orton (WHOM MY f***ING TEAM IS NAMED AFTER) led an inexplicable drive down the field and scored a TD with 5 seconds left in the game, allowing Dan Bailey to get the XP and me to be eliminated from the playoffs. I was 0.33 points away from going to the Championship game....
  11. Adding depth for a trade for Quintana/Santiago? That's what methinks.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) I thought he flipped and it surprised me that he still killed him. In his 30 second story, I kept going back and forth. Ha. At the beginning I was like "Alright, so what's his lie", and then was like "Oh now, he's bad again! You idiot!" and then I was like "Wait a second, this guy is the only one who knows the plan, he is probably letting him put his guard down, then he'll do something". Then the wideshot of the desk, then BAM.
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) For one season of Gardner? No thanks. That's fine. I'm not telling you I would offer that, I'm just telling you what I think the Yankees would want back. A lot of teams will be interested in Gardner. But I don't want to trade for any player on a 1-year deal, it makes no sense for this team (unless the deal comes w/ an extension).
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) The Sox have been mentioned by more mainstream baseball writers than any other team in the last 24 hours. Excited for some action. Unfortunately most of those mentions include Chris Sale's name.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) I think he did it because he realized he had to do something right now or he was about to be toast Yeah, I agree. I think Carrie tipping him off made him realize he has to prove his allegiance fast. And then when he started telling that guy the truth about everything, I had a feeling he would do something, and then when they showed the wide shot of them and the desk w/ the ash tray was in the foreground, it seemed very likely. No idea how he gets out of that situation though.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:47 AM) With four left-handers in their rotation the White Sox are much more open to trading Hector Santiago and likely offered him the Padres' way in talks. But as one major league evaluator said, Santiago's value has been hurt by pitching in the same rotation as Quintana, who is seen as a far more consistent and therefore attractive option. Saw this as part of a Dan Hayes article online about the idea of the White Sox trading Quintana for Headley...but that the White Sox hadn't agreed because they held Quintana's rights until 2019...and it was likely that Headley would be a "one year and out" acquisition at this point, and therefore, not logical for the long-term oriented White Sox. I mean, it only "hurts" his value in the sense that we have 2 better lefties in our rotation, so Santiago seems like such a consolation prize when compared, and to other teams he may seem super expendable to us because of Sale/Quintana as well. But I think it's just Dan Hayes pumping out a story in a slow rumor day (or week, or month) for the Sox. I doubt it's much of a factor at all.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:38 AM) Alrighty then - you sold me Headley ( plus an extension ) and Grandal. Bring it on! I honestly think Beck would be the riskiest player to give up in that deal. He seemingly has the highest potential of all those guys, but he is just kind of an unknown right now. But yeah, I don't want Headley if we can't get an extension w/ him, unless the price is low, like Santiago for Headley straight up, because then at least we can trade Headley at the deadline for prospects that should be worth at least Santiago and likely better. That is especially true if the Yankees could need a 3B upgrade by then and they say "f*** it, here is Gary Sanchez" and we can improve that way.
  18. Ehrmegerd, Homeland sooo good tonight. This will be a long week.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 12:54 AM) Stop-gappish trade chip signing? That's exactly what I want him for. Sign him to a 1 year deal, 2 years MAX, and then trade him at the deadline if he repeats his very good 2013 season. If we aren't making a big play for winning next year, then I want this team full of veteran trade-chips on short 1-2 year deals that we can move at the deadline for a couple mid-prospects each.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 01:28 AM) It's the return of the Laundry Baby Pimp! (My brother's nickname for Uribe. He once asked my sister-in-law "want to see why Juan Uribe is a pimp?" after he made a cool play, to which she replied "did you just say Laundry Baby Pimp?" My reminds me of how my buddy and I always called Uribe "Drink" as his nickname. We were sitting in the car going to a Sox game, this was 2006 maybe, and we were joking around about how Uribe can't speak English and I had joked that in the program at the stadium when they asked him what his favorite food is, he would probably answer "Drink". We thought it was hilarious at the time, so now we call him Drink.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 01:16 AM) Overpay IMO Thompson and Snodgress have very little trade value. Santiago looks decent, but is just a #4-5 starter right now. Beck is interesting, but he is also not that close to the majors yet, and Jones is a solid bullpen arm, but we can replace him immediately with Webb. I think that's a fair offer, assuming an extension is coming w/ Headley.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 11:26 PM) This I would be ok with and I find fair, especially because putting Hector, Jones, and Beck into Petco will only make them better. I would be good with that package, and I would also be good with Quintana + Reed for Headley (w/ extension) and Grandal. I don't think Quintana should be untouchable if we are getting Headley (w/ extension) AND Grandal. Without Grandal we'd have to get a couple of their top prospects.
  23. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) What are you using to determine their defensive values? Defensive metrics.
  24. So I was at my buddies house tonight doing laundry and he asked if it was cool if he watched a couple episodes of Breaking Bad (I finally convinced him to start watching). I said of course, and we watched probably 4 episodes tonight while the longest washer and dryer in the world did their thing. So anyway, we watched the episode towards the end of S4 when Skyler goes over to Ted's house to convince him to pay the IRS his back taxes. When he goes to answer the door when she arrives, he catches his foot on a rug and trips a little as he goes to the door. And then the next episode he obviously takes that hilarious tumble and breaks his neck. But I never noticed the slight and subtle trip he takes the episode prior that foreshadows it. Just another great little thing I pick up on each time I watch Breaking Bad, even when it's the 5th and 6th times I see an episode.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Well then we can excuse the Sox out of contention for his services. Big market teams will be in the bidding and he'll fr sure want to play with one of them. I can be wrong, but I don't like the Sox odds. I don't like our odds either, but our odds are at least existent with this new system. If we were on the old system, the Sox would have no chance to win a posting that could be around $50M.
