QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) did K0Na post something recently? i have gone through the last few pages of this thread and not found anything?? K0na broke something on twitter last year or a couple years ago. I can't remember what it was though. EDIT: Looking through his twitter, he broke the Buehrle to TOR trade, the Danks extension, and the Peavy to SOX and Jon Garland trades as well.

2013 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) I love and hate the holiday season. Picked up Assassins Creed IV for $35 ($38 after tax) at Best Buy over the weekend, thinking that was a great deal. And now Amazon has it for $30. I can't figure out if I want to buy AC4 for $30 on Amazon, or just spend $10 to rent it for a week.

Tigers will pay Joe Nathan more than $20M over 2 years. Yikes.

Lobaton traded to Nats
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) He is 30 years old and has been ok, Maddon most likely used him properly, the White Sox will not, so I figure he will end up hitting about .180 next year. Jeff Kepp 2.0

Lobaton traded to Nats
It's funny because as mediocre as Lobaton is, the 1.4 WAR in 100 games is infinitely better than what we got from our catching tandem last year. That's pretty sad to realize.

Lobaton traded to Nats
Meh. As long as it's for like.... Nestor Molina or something.

2013-14 off season player movement thread
Dbacks get P Justin Choate (undrafted, in A-Ball), and a PTBNL in exchange for David Holmberg and Heath Bell. Ouch, not liking that deal for AZ at all. I realize that they are shedding $5.5M of Heath Bell, but that hardly seems worth dumping Holmberg just to solve. EDIT: Strike that, they shed $5M, as they are paying $500K of Bell's salary.

So what are the Dbacks getting in any of this? They trade away Holmberg and Bell and get....?

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) Ha ha this is priceless! Great way of wording it. Cum-on Hahn, blow this wad already and give fans something to talk about! I stole it from the popular Spiderman-masturbating memes.

Ryan Hanigan Dealt to TB, Possible 3 Team Deal
The 3rd team is the DBacks. Hoping not to see Parra's name involved.
-
2013-14 off season player movement thread
The Reds/Rays trade of Ryan Hanigan now involves the Dbacks. Hoping to f*** that the Reds don't get Parra somehow.

2013-14 off season player movement thread
All these teams are making moves these past couple weeks while the White Sox just sit there, masturbating.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) I agree. It definitely appears to be an anti-Moneyball move. Which is funny because baseball writers were filling my twitter feed with "Billy Beane does it again!!" and "No one had a better Monday than Billy Beane, he continues to find these deals". I'm not sure how spending $33M on Kazmir and Jim Johnson is anything like a typical Billy Beane move in any capacity.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 12:20 AM) Sorry but I think morris post season success puts him in front of mussina. Did mussina ever win a post season game? Uhhhh, yeah. 7 of them. He was 7-8 with a 3.42 ERA, 9.34 K/9, 2.12 BB/9, 4.41 K/BB in 139 IP In other words, he was pretty good in the postseason. Morris was 7-4 with a 3.80 ERA, 6.24 K/9, 3.12 BB/9, 2 K/BB in 92 IP Sooo......

Dan Hudson Non tendered
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) Jake, I've been wanting to know for a while, what is going on with Bob Ley in your avatar? http://deadspin.com/espn-blunder-leads-to-...oment-489510155

Dan Hudson Non tendered
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 11:51 PM) Mainly because the recovery time for a second Tommy John surgery is longer than the first, and the success rate of pitchers returning after having the procedure for a second time is quite slim. It's $1.1M.

Twins out, Red Sox in on Pierzynski
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 11:29 PM) As much as I loathe AJ, I wouldn't mind bringing him back just for the purpose of flipping him at the deadline when out of contention. Use him as an inevitable trade chip. That's really the only reason to sign him.
-
Dan Hudson Non tendered
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) Why would it be crazy? He's had Tommy John TWICE. Because his price tag was $1.1M. How do you not throw that to him in hopes he can be healthy again. You know how easy it is to be worth $1.1M? I mean s***, we almost gave that much to Tyler Flowers, and he is horrendous when HEALTHY.
-
Dan Hudson Non tendered
Seriously? Holy s***, get this done. Last time he was healthy he put up a 4.8 WAR season. That's almost what Sale put up this year. Obviously the caveat there is his healthy, but s***, how much could be asking for if the Dbacks wouldn't even offer him arb? Get it done, Rick.

Fister? Damn near traded her!
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 11:01 PM) All of that is true. Saying the Tigers got 3 younger players back and only had to give up 1 player to Washington is also a true statement, but it's clearly a statement that is only made to try and make it seem like a good deal for Detroit while ignoring almost every other aspect of the deal, which show how terrible this deal really was for them.

Andrew Bailey is non-tendered. I'd definitely be down for that.

Chase Headley
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) Oh boy Freese is a whole 11 months older. And Freese was hurt last year, he has been a slightly above average the rest of his career. Headley is a 3B who will make around $9M next year who has posted an OPS over .775 once in his career. I'll pass. His 2010 season of .264/.327/.375 wasn't mediocre by the way? He's had 1 really good season (2012) and 1 season that was a little above average (2011), the rest of his career has been average at best. And Busch is just as bad for hitters as Petco for whoever used that excuse, actually its worse for home runs. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/order/false So we are just completely ignoring the opposite ends of the defensive spectrum that these guys fall on? K, got it.

Wave Goodbye to Dylan
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Remember when this franchise went ahead with Axelrod over Santiago? I almost punched a gaggle of babies when that happened.
