I think the A's should have taken that. Cespedes is a decent OF, but hasn't churned out a 3 WAR season yet, and only has 2 years left of team control. Skaggs, Pollock, and whatever other minor leaguers still have 5-6 years of team control left and don't cost a dime. Cespedes is providing surplus value over his contract, but not enough to pass on 2 very good prospects + more.

Woah, I'm surprised they decided on $20M. I figured they would go with maybe a dynamic number that matches the highest AAV in the league. Of course just having to pay $20M to have the rights to pay a guy a contract already sucks, but at least this gives a lot of teams a chance. I'd love if they did it where the teams w/ the worst records got first shot. The MLB draft is too much of a crapshot to effectively favor the teams with the highest draft picks. I mean, the Red Sox routinely have the best drafts every year, and they rarely are picking in the top half.

I've never dropped a phone too badly, so I've never needed one. But now that I have this super nice G2 and the bezel is so incredibly small that it makes the screen more exposed, I have purchased a case. It's just a cheap $10 Poetic case, which should be arriving any minute now from UPS, but I'm hoping this will save my phone. I am thinking I may be should have purchased the insurance plan from Best Buy, although I have no idea what it costs.

Billy Beane must have vacation plans for next week. This is what, the 4th move since Sunday?

Brett Anderson will be traded today. Probably either Blue Jays or Twins. Man, next weeks winter meetings may be as uneventful as last year after this crazy week.
