  1. Scott Boras didn't even get to hold the record for a month. Awesome.
  2. When you say "signed", do you mean "will sign on July 2nd, 2019" or was signed during this current period? EDIT: Despite the thread title saying 2019, I see the URL of the link says 2018-2019, so I think I just got my answer.
  3. The Cal Baseball twitter is trash. The kid running it doesn't seem to understand that many are following that account simply for Vaughn updates. It's not hard to tweet out what he has done in his ABs. It's 4-5 tweets per game. Hell, even a recap tweet at the end of each game about his performance would be helpful. Anyway, today he went 1/3, 2 HBP, SB, 0 BB, 0 K. His average fell to .414. He's the only one hitting over .300 in their lineup. I can't believe he gets pitched to.
  4. Yeah, I would assume he starts at Winston-Salem to get his confidence back, then has a chance to go to Charlotte by the end of the year if everything works out, given his age.
  5. AJ Puckett, whom the Sox got for Melky Cabrera, had TJS tonight. Add him to the list. He hasn't pitched since 2017. And now it looks like he won't pitch again until maybe the end of 2020. Yikes. He was drafted 1 spot after Bo Bichette and 3 spots after Peter Alonso in the 2nd RD in 2016.
  6. I'm hoping if 8 yrs/$100M is correct, that it's at least structured something like 5 yrs/$40M, with 3 club options at $20M per year just in case Eloy flops or has a long history of injuries, it will protect the team to cut their losses after 6 years (I think the Sox can still offer him arbitration for his 6th year) and $45-50M.
  7. Caleb Frare has a chance to be absolute death on lefties.
  8. I won't be *mad* if it's true with these terms and no option years, but it will be extremely confusing.
  9. 5 wild pitches for the Dodgers in the 8th inning. Sox have scored 8 runs this inning. Woof.
  10. And why not just offer him this extension the day after he gets called up, so that way the 8 year deal starts AFTER 2019, so we really get him for 9 years.
  11. Yeah, it really does. Nolan Arenado essentially earned $61.5M through the arb process. He actually signed a 2-year deal to avoid arb for his 1st and 2nd arb years, but then he went back to arb for his 3rd year. So using this structure, that 9th year would be at $38.5M. Of course, arb also keeps going up. So by the time Eloy gets there, maybe he's looking at something closer to $70M over that time? So maybe this 8th year would be at $30M, which could be realistic by that point. But either way, this sounds like it's going to put a lot of risk on the Sox that Eloy turns in to a stud, perennial All-Star.
  12. Also, funny enough, this would be the largest contract ever given out by the Sox.....and it's to a guy who has never played a major league game.
  13. I need someone smart from Fangraphs to let me know how much surplus value this gives the Sox if Eloy ends up being a solid guy. Meanwhile, I assume this means he makes the roster on Opening Day, right? Scott Kingery, I believe is the last player who signed a deal while he was a minor leaguer and he made the major league team out of ST.
  14. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE
  15. I would assume it means different teams offered a 3rd RD pick.
  16. I didn't buy it last year, so this is my year to do it.
  17. RHP Drey Jameson was in FG's list of college pitchers who are moving quickly up the boards right now. They still only have him listed as #91 on their board, so quite a bit lower than Jim Callis who said Jameson could be a late 1st or 2nd RD type. Maybe he's continuing to project his rise.
  18. Vaughn went 1/3, 2 BB, 0 K. Now hitting .426 with 7 HR, 20 BB, 7 K
  19. Are the Cowboys and Earl Thomas finally going to get married or what?
  20. I turned down free tickets to last night's game. My girlfriend had to work late, and even though I could have called off work myself, I didn't want to do it just to go alone. Whoops. But my brother ended up taking his daughter for her first ever Hawks game and she loved it. Apparently she was mascotting for the section and was giving high-fives all around for each goal.
  21. Must.....play.....Red Dead. It's been at least a month since I played, and with The Show coming out, I worry I'll never finish it.
  22. Not happy to see Sox fans out of a job but also..... Meh.
  23. The Phillies have posted signs at their team shop saying that they've run out of the letter "R".
