Wow, harder to find a more perfect fit for the Sox, you're right.
-
Henzman struck out 8 and walked 1. He now has 36 K to 5 BB on the season. His BB/9 is about 1. Loving it.
-
He flew out to CF. Combined no-hitter. Barons took 7 walks, none of them by Collins or Eloy.
-
Baron's still being no-hit in to the 9th inning now. 2 outs. It's up to Barnum.

Pretty incredible Sox gate numbers from 2016
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
From what I remember, the Sox have some of the most expensive parking in baseball. I think I remember a lot of teams being less than $20, with the Brewers being like $7 and I think the Rays being free. -
Were the discounts from EV incentives? I know here in NWINdiana you can get $10K off a Leaf via our electric company, and still qualify for the $7500 government rebate. It ends up being like 60% off.

Highest BB/9 in baseball. 2nd worst K/9. As you might imagine, the worst K/BB ratio in baseball. Actually, only one of 2 teams in baseball with a K/BB worse than 2. And you would be pretty surprised to guess the other team, but they also play in Chicago. Our pitching also generates the least amount of groundballs in baseball by a pretty good margin. Have the worst xFIP by a TON. And just when looking at our starting staff. Worst K/9, worst BB/9, and actually has almost managed to walk as many batters as they have struck out. Which is amazing when you consider every starter is likely to run in to at least a few 7-8 strikeout games here and there.

I'm not too surprised at how bad the offense is at times, or the bullpen, but I am very surprised with this starting staff. I certainly did not see them all sucking (Yes, even Lopez and his misleading 2.44 ERA sucks this year in every other metric).
-
Having only heard about them (in comparison to the Model 3), but having never seen one until I just googled it, I am shocked how small they are. I just assumed because it was BMW that it was a slick looking sports-car type. I don't think I understand the Model 3 comparisons anymore. Probably more closer to the Nissan Leaf and Prius when you include body style, which is fine, but just threw me off.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I didn't realize the annual thread had started this early. Usually I start it up around July. But anyway, we got a 2 game lead on the #1 pick! #ShitForWitt -
So fucking livid that they didn't challenge that. Whoever's decision it was not to challenge needs to lose their job or at least be reassigned a new job. Absolutely awful.

2017-2018 NHL discussion thread

Hey! You suck! -
I need some video on Bohm fielding, because all I have to go off of, other than reports, is what I see of how he runs, and he runs like a weirdo, which makes me think he may be awkward at 3B. It also may have no correlation at all, but I just want some video to see it.
-
But Keith Law also sucks at evaluating pitchers.
-
Yeah, and I get that, just like Rodon, and if that's the only real issue, than that's great. I guess I need to hear if his velo was down, or if his mechanics were backing up, or if was anything substantial. Or maybe it was character issues like this?

No. College stats are the hardest to decipher because of the wildly different levels of talent they face, both compared to pro ball and just within the college ranks. I'm just going off of mock drafts and opinions on the experts who see these guys play week to week and have info deeper than the boxscores. His rollercoaster season, in terms of draft position and reports, worries me, despite, I'm sure, stellar numbers overall.

I just discovered the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard. Not only are Dax and Kristen Bell my favorite celeb couple, but I could listen to Dax talk all day. He's been getting some really solid A and B-list celebs to come on and talk and tell stories, but one aspect of the show I really like is that his co-host does a FACT-CHECK at the end of every episode. So when him and Ashton Kutcher make wild claims about whatever stuff, she jumps on at the end of the show to review all the things they got wrong or add info to their stories. It's pretty cool. His interview with Seth Green, man, Seth Green just seems like the most down to Earth and friendliest guy out there. And learning about Chris Hardwick's family bowling fame was really interesting.

The Knights are SO boring. I guess Eddy Alvarez went 1 for 3, and Viera struck out 2 in a perfect 8th inning. So, there's that.
-
I guess I wouldn't be disappointed with Singer, but I wouldn't be excited either. The fact that he went from slam-dunk #1, to back of 1st RD, now he's creeping back in to the top 5 just worries me a bit that he's inconsistent. Perfect Game did a mock draft at the end of March and they had Singer ranked #20. In the same mock, India was #43. I would prefer the guy who has made a precipitous improvement as the year went on, versus the guy who fell off a cliff and then climbed back up, especially when India should be an easy underslot value, and Singer may require overslot.

Could Palka be the White Sox Schwarber?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The first time I googled translated it, it said Payday, the second time it said Salary. Strange. -

In Estonian, it means Payday. -
Since April 24th you say?? Hmmm... You're welcome. ?

How do you know they didn't? Afterall, he was only hitting .271 with 11 extra base hits with the Cubs prior to the trade. After the trade, in only a few more games, he hit about .350 with 28 extra base hits and an OPS almost 200 points higher, while also moving up a level to AA. Eloy has put up much better numbers since he came over to the Sox. Maybe he did tweak his swing/stance, I honestly never watched him in the Cubs system.

Jake Burger re-tears Achilles

Honestly, I'm just going to completely put him out of my mind and if he happens to come back and contribute anything, then I'll consider it a bonus.
