  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) While Beck, Johnson, and Johnson isn't a giant haul, there is no way that David Price would sign long-term. The Sox aren't ready to win. It would be a stupid trade. Also, I'd definitely trade Ramirez. I'd need a nice haul but there is no way that Seattle would give the Sox Tijuan Walker. Not gonna happen. Also, I think the White Sox just drafted the next David Price.

  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) Theo truly has everyone brainwashed. A 20 at-bat sample size in short season class A and suddenly the guy is Babe Ruth? Who is brainwashed and who called him Babe Ruth? It was fairly evident that he wasn't getting anything out of short season ball in Boise. He now goes to Low A Kane County. He is a college guy. We shall see what happens.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) If you expect that, you are rooting for the wrong team. Okay great thanks for the tip.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) Its their home station. They always get layup interviews. Really, no one in Chicago challenges anyone in sports. What does he need to be challenged on? Hahn was great last year in interviews with Bernstein and on the Hit and Run Show. Spiegel and Abbatacola had a pretty good interview with Epstein yesterday. I think it's mostly because Hanley stinks and Rozner is barely awake for those shows. That morning show is awful.
  6. QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 03:41 AM) One thing with Tanaka, he generally only goes 6 or 7 innings, I can't remember him having a complete game at all this year. He's like the Yankees version of Max Scherzer. Yeah well when you strikeout as many guys as he strikes out and generally don't go that much over 100 pitches, he won't have many complete games. It's stupid anyway. Look at how many complete games Justin Verlander has. He has absolutely nothing to show for it other than starting a massive 6 year contract next season and looking like toast.
  7. So what does the consensus think on Rodon: 1. Boras is just delaying because he's Boras. 2. Boras is holding out for the entire bonus pool plus the overage. 3. The Sox are trying to keep around $500,000-$600,000 for Montes de Oca. I believe that Rodon will sign. Even though there isn't much leverage, I could see it going awhile just because Boras is Boras though. If the holdup is Reinsdorf not paying an overage that is technically allowed though, he should just sell the team. I have nothing to prove that that would be the reason but not going over because they've never done it before is ass backwards logic. Especially when you dumped salary last year and just ate Jeff Keppinger's contract.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) 20 ABs. Well 20 at-bats got him promoted to Kane County. Brett Taylor ‏@BleacherNation 5m Kyle Schwarber Hit Two Homers Today - And Has Reportedly Been Called Up to Kane County http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/06/17/k...to-kane-county/ … #Cubs
  9. Cubs draft strategy is looking pretty sound. They signed 4th rnder HS LHP Carson Sands for $1.1 million and HS LHP Justin Steele (5th rounder) for $1 million. They will most likely sign Dylan Cease as well. Adding Stinnett, Case, Steele, and Sands while drafting Schwarber is a nice haul and a great way of spreading resources around. I love what the Sox did but going under slot for a potential fast moving college bat has allowed the Cubs to give $1 million bonuses to top 100 high school guys.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) FOX Sports: MLB ‏@MLBONFOX 8m JUST IN: the @Orioles announce C Matt Wieters is scheduled to have Tommy John surgery tomorrow. Recovery time expected to be 9 months. Tyler Flowers is available
  11. Here is that article by Joe Cowley: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/28103289-41...ml#.U59z2V6WUmF He also tweeted a bunch last night. The handle is @suntimes_hoops. The Bulls should have only 1 untouchable and that's only because of Derrick Rose's contract. If you truly want to be a championship team then everything should be on the table.
  12. Now would be a great time to try to buy low on a couple of guys: Marlins RHP Jacob Turner (Demoted to the bullpen today) and Yasmani Grandal (White Sox were supposedly very interested in him in his draft year and he's most likely available).
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) I didn't say it was right, but all this garbage about talent evaluation and patience is like, their M.O. Gar is probably salivating at two teen picks. This is the group who apparently was "distraught" about having to unload Kirk's contract in 2010 in preparation for Free Agency that did not go well. It actually has been reported they'd rather not use both picks. If the Bulls moved to #11 with Denver, they'd actually save around $2.5 million to use in free agency. If they trade both picks or use 1 on a foreign player, they'd have even more $$. I would be shocked if the Bulls draft roster players at #16 and #19.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) So the Cubs got a reliever who walks 4.2/9, Mike Olt, and an A-baller with a bad shoulder and they "won" the trade? I'd say they need more time to declare that They got 4 quality pieces for a 1/2 season rental. It was a great trade.
  15. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) Apparently, all three will opt out stay in Miami and take pay cuts so they can bring in more talent. I don't buy this for 1 second. Bosh can get a max deal from a team somewhere else and Wade almost has to opt-in.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 12:02 AM) So regarding the draft is the order Embiid, Wiggins, Parker; Wiggins, Embiid, Parker; or Embiid, Parker Wiggins? Personally I would take Wiggins No. 1, Parker 2 and Embiid 3. First of all, Embiid is too big a risk. Everybody says he's the next Olajuwon. I say he simply hasn't played much basketball yet and easily could regress now that he's playing against the BIG men of the NBA. Wiggins should be No. 1 because he was ordained the next great thing so he might as well fulfill his draft destiny to be No. 1. Parker should be No. 2 cause he's better than Embiid. Comments? I agree. I think that Embiid is destined to have an injury riddled career with Cleveland while Wiggins goes on to be a superstar in Philadelphia.

  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 11:15 PM) It was a weird start for him. Maybe too much rest? In the first inning, he had runners on 2nd and 3rd, two outs and a wild pitch scored both runners...kind of a weird play where the ball bounced all the way from home over by the dugout. But he only gave up 4 hits in 7 innings...and I'm pretty sure 2 or even 3 of those hits were in the first, so basically he was untouched for most of the game until the 7th again. Yeah. Montas has really good stuff.
  19. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 06:02 PM) Is he going to use a tee? I was chewing food when I read this and almost choked. Outstanding post my friend.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 12:01 AM) So...buy super low on Grandal? Yes. I suggested this a couple of weeks ago. I would absolutely buy-low on Grandal. It would be buying really low right now haha.
  21. Nikola Mirotic watched the White Sox game in Jerry Reinsdorf's box with The Chairman last night.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) Did the Bears leave Chicago? The Bears have the most dumb fans because they have the most fans. I think by percentage, it's Bulls fans. There are 6 banners in the United Center and most fans are reluctant to trade gritty, try hard players to get stars. NBA fans in this city should be a hell of a lot smarter than they are.
  23. Haha back to back calls on 670 this morning said they won't attend Sox games because Adam Dunn is on the team. "They'd rather see Konerko out there". The Bulls have the dumbest fan base in this city but White Sox fans can be hilarious.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Only if it happened before Sept. 1st. I also don't want to see him in August. But as a September call-up? Hell yeah. Oh okay. Thanks for clarifying.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) Every day that Rodon doesn't sign, pisses away the small chance that he could pitch for Chicago this year. I'd rather him not pitch for the Sox this year anyway. Wouldn't that start the clock this year? I don't want to see him. I am looking forward to him being in the Sox rotation early next year.
