  1. Which is probably negative value…lol
  2. If true, the trade basically works out like this: Fedde & Pham for Vargas (bad) Kopech for Albertus & Perez (ok)
  3. What in the actual f***? Did Chris forgot which team he was the GM for?
  4. The Graveman & Middleton returns were fantastic for what we gave up.
  5. If you want you view this trade as a positive, you can cling to a couple of things. Vargas has hit incredibly in AAA this year and when using a 190 PA threshold, he’s ranked first in wRC+ at 149, third in BB % at 19.9%, & 4th in ISO at .276 all while sporting a BABIP below his career norms. Obviously these figures are inflated due to playing in the PCL, but so are everyone else’s and their AAA stadium actually has pretty average park factors. The other two kids we received may not have plus tools, but they both have advanced plate discipline at their age and that’s something we have struggled developing. Perez is sporting a .380 OBP and 119 wRC+ in Low A as a 19 year old and Albertus destroyed complex ball with a .479 OBP and 151 wRC+ before being promoted to Low A (he is also 19). While I always prefer prospects who have at least one non-arm carrying tool, guys with average tools that illustrate strong discipline early on oftentimes are underrated in these rankings. But to be clear, I hate this trade and the last remaining hope I had for Chris Getz all but died today.
  6. Lol…I wonder if that combined with the snitching is what got him the job. I bet Jerry was impressed with his creativity even if it ultimately didn’t accomplish a much of anything.
  7. I met someone back in November who hung in the same circle as Getz when they were at Michigan and the guy told me Chris was legit stupid and he was greatly concerned that he’d be a terrible GM. So far, that appears be some tremendous scouting of Getz.
  8. Getz pulling off multiple deals in ~24 hours seems far fetched. More likely he combines Crochet, Brebbia, & DeJong into one large, bad deal and calls it a day.
  9. Spite trades don’t end well usually…doesn’t help when Getz & crew are making them
  10. He must have at least five. He hasn’t accrued a full just yet. Was curious if maybe he had six years of control left but probably not.
  11. In all honesty? Probably heard Getz say Crochet was on the back burner until a Fedde trade finalized, found out how little it would cost to help facilitate a trade to the Cardinals, and will now get Crochet for 50 cents on the dollar because Getz has no clue what he’s fucking doing.
  12. There is no such thing as salary dump for players who have surplus value. We just overvalued what we got and/or undervalued what we gave up.
  13. Sure, but we traded a bunch of guys who made very little in the grand scheme of things. My point is we wouldn’t have eaten any money if we were in great financial distress.
  14. I’m still in utter disbelief by this trade. Like I want to be an optimist, but I just don’t fucking see it. I felt the same way with the Fletcher trade and to a lesser extent with the Santos trade. This just reeks of overzealous scouting by Gene Watson and a front office who doesn’t know to appropriately value players (which is not surprising given our lack of analytical muscle). This trade is built like we think we’re getting a legit top 40 overall prospect and not a former one who has shown some serious warts in his first 430 plate appearances. Just feels way too light and CBSSports talked to three rival evaluators who said as much. Getz is so in over his head right now and not bringing in a veteran GM as an advisor to help think through things (like how to handle your first trade deadline) was a massive miscue. Like how the f*** has Crochet been on the back burner this whole time while Getz focused entirely on this whopper of a trade. This franchise is completely and utterly fucked thanks to Chris Getz.
  15. You know the trade is a total fucking disaster when Harold can’t even show his face to defend it.
  16. lol…but honestly, they’ll have to spend it on something. I can’t see us rocking a sub $80M payroll even when rebuilding. And if they dump Benintendi, we’re basically sitting on nothing. I just don’t see the allure of signing the tier of free agent that will likely fall off a cliff before you can ever be competitive again.
