I’m truly sorry for what you have endured. But that doesn’t take away the feelings the rest of us have and we shouldn’t have to feel bad about it. My point that you quoted was certainly not to mock you in any way, but rather emphasize that something I had dreamed the moment I had kids has been taken away from me because this org can’t find a way to be even mildly competent. No doubt there are bigger problems in life and I will survive, but it just sucks when something that should only provide joy ends up providing much sorrow.

I never got that vibe from Eberflus, but there is a world of difference between him and Trestman. The latter simply wasn’t capable of being a leader of men in any capacity and that was obvious the first time he opened his mouth.

That John Shoop connection in particular is hilarious.

But you’re not sorry and that’s the problem. You’re actually mocking posters who are frustrated or saddened by the state of things. You have every right to feel optimistic of what Getz is doing and I agree the blatant pessimism can get tiring, but the fact remains we just were the worst team in baseball history. We are viewed as a complete clown show and have zero star players on the roster other than an oft injured Robert. Baseball is already a really tough sell for a lot of kids and unfortunately the 2023/2024 White Sox makes it nearly impossible to gain a young kid’s interest. I forced them all to go a game last year and they had zero fun as soon as all the snacks & treats went dry. I spend tons of time with my kids and it would be selfish of me to make them go to more games given how bad & boring this team is. There are simply more fun things to do that makes everyone happy. And it’s totally fine for Sox fans to be upset that what once was special experience for them and their families may be all but gone for good. It’s been difficult to process at times, but I have accepted the fact I will die alone as a Sox fan without a legacy to live on through my kids.

The production values were fine, just wasn’t the same as old school SoxFest if you’re into autographs and town hall style Q&A.

They actually hyped the history of being in Bridgeport, which I found odd given their eagerness to leave the area.

Seemed like a fun, super confident kid. Obviously the size and physical ability stands out when you see him.

Comparing a guy who made 49 starts at SS last year (the most at any spot for him) being a temporary fill-in at SS for the Sox to when Rick Hahn forced a 1B into the OF is quite the take.

Yeah, this is straight up bullshit. I try to stay out of other people’s beefs, but telling @JUSTgottaBELIEVE his kids should go to therapy because they are embarrassed to be Sox fans is just douchey. And please don’t treat us like idiots and pretend your comment was well intentioned because it clearly wasn’t. Do you even have kids? Do you know what it’s like to be a kid right in this day of social media? Do you know what it’s like to grow up going to Sox games with your family and worry that tradition will die with your kids because the org is so incompetent & boring that no young fans have any semblance of interest in this team? Yeah, no one is going to die over this stuff, but it doesn’t change the fact that it sucks for many of us with kids. My dream of regular Saturday tailgates with my two boys when they are older is all but dead because the Sox have given them zero reason to the follow the team in their formative years and they have moved onto other interests.

Anyone else go to SoxFest last night? The format was incredibly different from the past as expected, in some ways good and other ways very bad. I will say anyone considering going tonight, it’s not very kid friendly. There are some meet and greets and you can technically get autographs, but you can’t bring in large pictures, bats, or even baseballs. The night started off with Len Kasper and his band playing music for about an hour. This neither good or bad, just some background music while you walked around and drank some beers. If you had an MVP package, you could meet some players at this time, but otherwise there wasn’t a ton to do. The merch they have there is incredibly limited, although they do have some cool “125 years” of White Sox baseball stuff (I did snag a hoodie). They then kicked off the real experience by bringing out all their young players and prospects. To be honest, I kind of got hyped in that moment because the sheer amount of players on stage was impressive. Just from my reallocation, you had Thorpe, Cannon, Burke, Schultz, Smith, Teel, Quero, C. Montgomery, B. Montgomery, Meidroth, Baldwin, Ramos, Vargas, & Wolkow. I’m sure I’m missing others and it doesn’t change the fact we have a long road ahead of us, but it was much cooler than seeing them try to sell guys like Tauchman & Slater. After that, they had their “2005 World Series” panel. Basically it was Our Chuck alongside Buehrle, Sweety Freddy, Contreras, & Baines. While it wasn’t anything crazy, it was a decent segment and some back & forth. They did reveal that Mark will be getting a statue and then Mark did buy a touch of beers for every adult in attendance (sorry kiddos), which was awesome given the $12 price tag. They then shift to a “State of the White Sox” with Getz & Venable. This was an absolute snooze fest with poor audio (IMO) and endless pre-curated, softball questions. I was ready and waiting for a town hall format so I could hold Chris accountable for certain past mistakes, but Boyer and his staff clearly designed this event to prevent a blood bath from occurring. You may be for or against putting a GM on the spot like this, but at least fan questions generate more interesting discussion than whatever the hell Kasper was feeding them. The event for those who didn’t pay for the ridiculously priced afterparty (I believe $100 for 1 hour) was some comedy thing involving fans and players. A comedian named Kevin Bozeman hosted and they did a variety of games that involved a mix of players and fans. At this point, I had snuck my way into the MVP area in the hopes of finding Chase Meidroth, but instead only found free sliders & fried mushrooms and a meet & greet event with Sean Burke & George Wolkow. The comedy thing seemed ok, but basically made up 25% of the event so I really question the point of it. But again, the event felt more like a party for White Sox fans than a typical SoxFest session. Last tip for anyone going, but they do have some Blue Moon raffle at the front where you have the chance to win some prize (I believe a lame Blue Moon jacket, but I drink a lot of Blue Moon and still wanted). You give them your phone number and they will text you if you won. I made the fortunate but unfortunate decision to make a quick exit as I was in hot pursuit of a breaded steak sandwich from Ricobene’s and missed a text notifying that I had won the raffle. And unfortunately, they only give you 10 minutes to claim, so make sure to check your phone from 8:30 to 9:00.

What he lacks in this those areas he makes up with TWTW. He’s not a guy you want playing SS long-term, but he could hold down the fort for a month or two. He is a very smooth / reliable defender who his pitchers like behind him.

So I was at SoxFest last night and got in line for the meet and greet at 7:45 and there was Chase with his skeevy stoner locks free flowing. There was only four people in front of me when I entered the line and almost within seconds they rushed him and Braden Montgomery out. Literally the meet and greet was supposed to go to 8:00, so my dream of getting a picture with him was crushed and I was enraged at being scammed. You don’t promise Meidroth and then pull a bait and switch on my emotions.

A cap and floor is what is needed. Honestly, you are going to have make the Players Union miss time though to get them to agree to it.

I can understand why they’d keep Scholtens around, but let’s not pretend he is actually any good. He is simply an arm that you can use & abuse as needed because he’s not an actual prospect and has options.

Touki doesn’t have options, which is the entire logic of keeping Scholtens.

We’re just beating a dead horse at this point, but you continue to ignore that he will cost the first pick of the second round, $500k in international slot, and may not even be good by the time the rest of our team is good. Steamer projects he will be a 2.7 win player next year and with a normal aging curve you’d be looking at 2.2 in 2026, 1.7 in 2027, 1.2 in 2028, & 0.7 in 2029. Maybe he ages more graciously, but he’s not the type of player I would bet on for that. As such, he doesn’t make any sense for a team coming off the worst season in baseball history and who won’t be competitive for quite some time.

Fully agree on talking to as many candidates as possible. There is always something to be learned on what other orgs are doing and teams should take advantage of these opportunities when they have them.
