A Realistic Offseason
Why do you even post this nonsense? I know, I know "it's how I deal with expectations". Just a terrible way to exist always assuming the worst.

A Realistic Offseason
OMG, prior year production <> future year production. Like this can't be your actual argument right?

JDM staying in Boston
He’s a DH with an opt-out after the 2020 season in his contract. I can’t imagine it would take a lot if they’re desperate to move salary.

A Realistic Offseason
What? There are no rumors connecting the Astros to Grandal and they clearly are in a tough financial spot, yet here you are making baseless arguments for why they’re going to get him. I honestly have no idea what you’re trying to accomplish other than being irrationally negative.

Sox issue qualifying offer to Abreu
And yet here you are, placing the interests of a single player over the well-being of the team...

A Realistic Offseason
Reddick has no value and no one will take him off their hands without a prospect coming back with him or a bad contract going the other way.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Don’t think they’ll be spending $20M/per on a catcher.

A Realistic Offseason
I think we have as good of a chance as any with Grandal, but there will definitely be a lot of teams in the mix. Seems like it will mostly be small to mid market teams in the mix.

A Realistic Offseason
I’m not against Castellanos now that we aren’t tied up to José for 2+ years, but I still prefer Grandal and would definitely be pissed if Keuchel is our big rotation addition.

Grandal - Early Off-Season Speculation
What?

A Realistic Offseason
Grandal fits the left-handed bat qualifier.

A Realistic Offseason
That would be such a pathetic offseason all things considered.

Zack Wheeler Thread
Yeah, this TOR starter talk is crazy. Is Wheeler an ace? No, but if you consider top of the rotation to mean a #1 or #2 starter then he most definitely fits the bill. There’s probably less than a dozen teams he wouldn’t be the #2 starter on and he’s still got some untapped potential. If he can stay healthy, he could be the steal of this free agent class. I definitely could see the Astros being all over him.

Zack Wheeler Thread
Given he’s tied to a compensation pick and has some health concerns (sounds like his shoulder in particular), I think 5/$100M is a reasonable high end figure for him. I think upside will get him close to that number though.

A Realistic Offseason
Potentially a DH option if Abreu is gone after next season (depending on the price).

JDM staying in Boston
So if a trade were to happen, it better happen soon!

JDM staying in Boston
The problem is if we miss on Grandal, there really aren’t any other high impact positional guys in free agency. Having JDM as an insurance policy was nice.
-
JDM staying in Boston
I don’t buy the Yankees as being a serious suitor for him TBH.

JDM staying in Boston
Very terrifying how JDM not opting out makes this free agent class that much uglier for us.

A Realistic Offseason
Jim Bowden did his predictions in an Athletic article and the only guys he had the White Sox as a fit for were Rendon & Abreu. And his projected contract for José was 3/$60M. That dude is such a hack.

Strasburg officially opts out
Why would they be afraid to lose a draft pick?

Strasburg officially opts out
He was also one of the most durable starters in baseball for the eight years proceeding his contract, averaging 31.5 starts a season. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to add Strasburg, but I’m not sure Greinke is a great comp given his rare health record.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
I was just going to ask this. It’s got to be up there from a pure yardage perspective.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
You’ve honestly got to.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
This offense is almost as bad as the ones led by Jonathan Quinn & Henry Burris. Like I have come to terms that Mitch will never be good, but dude was capable enough last year to keep us competitive most weeks. Quite frankly, this level of offensive output is unacceptable. I don’t like overreacting to one bad year, but it really makes you question Nagy’s ability as a head coach & play caller.
