  1. I’ll keep saying it, but if these prices are beyond their comfort level there is simply no hope to ever land a stud free agent. How old is Reinsdorf again?
  2. I went back and forth on that, but ultimately I think Alonso is a potentially useful player who is grossly overpaid whereas McCann is just bad. That being said, I should have probably given the Alsono move an F as well purely based on the logistics behind it.
  3. Like I said, if they were going for it then I could totally see it happening. But even they know next year is a lost season (especially without Machado or Harper) and will want to give some playing time to younger guys.
  4. We did that in our half-assed attempts at competing. Adding Span right now would be so fucking stupid and I don’t believe our front office would be that dumb. For better or worse, Jay is the veteran OF and there is simply no room for another one.
  5. Here’s my honest assessment of each major move Hahn has made this offseason ranked from best to worst: Banuelos / B / The only true rebuilding move made this offseason; added a guy who is out of options but who our scouts identified as someone with upside; probably ends up being nothing but we have innings to give and he’s a better use of them than a lot of other guys Herrera / B / Like the idea of adding a back-end arm to a flippable contract; he probably gets more if not for his foot injury and we can afford to roll the dice on him given 2019 is a lost season Colome / B- / Similar to above, I like adding a back-end arm that can be flipped; this one I downgrade slightly because we could have signed someone similar for a little bit more money and traded Omar for something else Nova / C / An unexciting addition that adds some stability but very little upside; seems like Hahn misread the market and could have gotten a similar starter (with more risk but also more upside) for a little bit less in free agency Santana / C / In isolation it’s a perfectly fine move to add some pitching depth; I do have concerns they’ll just hand him the 5th starters job regardless of he looks in spring but I can’t preemptively downgrade the score for that Jay / C- / I’d give this a C+ if Manny would have signed, but without him it makes far less sense; given how bad our OF is he can still have a role and be a veteran influence Alonso / D / Don’t actually hate the player and think he has the ability to rebound to some extent, but he is way overpaid and we helped out a division rival to get him; without Manny the move looks plain stupid McCann / F / I literally hate this move with a passion as the player is is pure garbage; also the organization continues to show it does not value framing the least bit which is unfortunate with the pitching we’re trying to develop Overall it’s a pretty disappointing set of moves and all but the top three offer little to no long-term benefit. Obviously some of these were tied to Machado, but that doesn’t change the fact that a rebuilding team will be wasting money and playing time on a bunch of low upside guys on short-term deals. Hahn gets a big fat F for the overall offseason.
  6. I totally get minor league deals have no downside, but this one just seems plain stupid. Like why the fuck do we need another shitty OF in camp? Just give the reps to fringe guys like Palka & Nicky who are already on the 40 man roster.
  7. Eloy is a tremendous prospect, but this front office is basically relying on him to be it’s savior. And even if he hits on his ceiling, we’re not talking Mike Trout here. The team will need multiple more impact talents. The front office almost seems like if Eloy is a hit all is good.
  8. Gotcha, yeah it’s unfortunate but to be expected. Hopefully the anger subsides a bit and becomes more focused at the front office & Jerry as we get deeper into spring training.
  9. The worst part of this offseason (other than losing out on Machado & Harper) is Hahn actually had the nerve to say this was a good offseason.
  10. Great post. And it’s completely the opposite of how all other businesses’ operate. I’ve seen people blame the fans for not coming out as some sort of logic for us not being able to spend and that’s complete bullshit. Build a consistently desirable product and people will eventually show up. Like any other business, that might require some up-front investment, but no other companies blame their customers for not buying their shitty product. The “I can’t spend a dollar when I only have 50 cents” attitude has governed this franchise my entire lifetime outside of the Albert Belle signing. I’m sure someone will post some attendance figures trying to disprove my overall point and rip our fanbase, but it’s the honest to god truth.
  11. “Unprecedented financial flexibility” & “economic might”! Just wait until there are legit big spenders in the mix! I’ve never hated this front office & ownership group more in my entire life...what a bunch of fucking clowns. HBS should be embarrassed to call Rick one of their own. WORST GM IN BASEBALL...FULL STOP.
  12. You’re not wrong about his stake, but he has unlimited power as White Sox Chairman. Like the other owners can’t even sell their shares without his approval.
  13. Jerry has complete control of the team and the other partners literally can’t do jack shit. From an ownership perspective Jerry is to blame and no one else IMO.
  14. $3k?! We’re already 25% of the way there! Seriously, if someone starts a GoFundMe I’ll put $500 in tonight. Although in all honesty, we probably need a design and specific location in place first.
  15. The perfect way to sum up the incompetence of this front office in picture form.
  16. Unfortunately they don’t have billboards in Winnetka, because I’d love shame Rick and his god damn lawyer speak in front of his ritzy community brethren.
  17. I love it! I was planning on spending a good $1k or so on Sox tickets this year, but now that I’ll be in Nashville I can put half that money towards a billboard.
  18. We’re already up to $700! Just need someone who knows how to setup a gofundme and design a billboard! Any graphic designers on the site?
  19. I’m sure they are, just saying I’d personally be willing to contribute that much towards one. And I’m talking about putting money towards shaming the organization. These clowns deserve to be ridiculed and while a billboard will most certainly not get anyone fired it would at least create some headlines and put a dent in these scumbags’ egos. That is money well spent IMO.
  20. Anyone know how much a billboard costs? I’m willing to throw $500 towards one if someone here is willing to design something clever ripping Hahn, KW, & Jerry.
  21. It’s pretty sad that we have to cheer for an old man to die in order for us to ever spend like a normal franchise.
  22. Marwin: 104 wRC+, plays 7 positions, $10.5M Alonso: 97 wRC+, plays 1 position, $8M ?
  23. Still not understanding how you think they got around the tax issue when over half of the remaining $280M will be taxed at California’s 13% rate.
  24. I really can’t beleive this dude hasn’t signed yet. The longer this goes on, the more likely it becomes his deal is below Machado’s IMO. I’m sure everyone will call me crazy, but I think it’s a real possibility.
