  1. Symptoms of the small market habitual losing fanbase syndrome Trades seem to have a high failure rate in this organization. I like those idiotic owners who treat it more as a sport than a business.
  2. Don't teams usually "rush" college players?
  3. He's a bottleneck on the bases. He seems like the typical KW pick. The Sox have a history of trying to develop plays at a position of need. I still remember them, trying Viciedo and Fields at 3rd. They even put Yermin behind the plate at Charlotte. Hopefully Getz doesn't work that way.
  4. Younger generations aren't as interested in sports these days. When I was a kid there was less distractions. We didn't need organized sports. Houses use to have lots or there were fields to play baseball. Schools didn't resemble penal institutions and you could go shoot hoops on a playground.
  5. Baseball is not as popular as it use to be was the point. Wasn't the 2005 WS suppose to be the lowest rated? Did that matter to fans of either teams?
  6. Some just don't see that reality. There are 3 other sports going on. You also have college games. TV contracts and advertising were already paid for. There's a lot more to compete when it comes to a person's time for entertainment. WS appeals to most baseball fans I don't care for the NFL so I don't remember the last time a I watched a Super Bowl. There is a difference between being a fan of a team and a fan of a sport. I'm sure there will be even eyes glued in AZ since the Cardinals suck.
  7. Sox are bad at scouting big league free agents or for some reason free agents don't do well here. That's when you need to invest in the farm.
  8. Angels seem to lack improving their farm.
  9. Someone finally figured out that you don't give them anything to hit. Let the other 7 guys try to beat you. That's where small ball steps in.
  10. It can be if you spend $300M and dumpster dive for the rest.
  11. Just maybe baseball is not a predictable sport. Some of these teams that won 100 games were the result of more bad teams than last year. Padres, Giants, Cardinals, the whole AL Central, Yankees, Red Sox
  12. Reds conceded and didn't do much. Is Clevinger that much of a cancer for teams to risk for 2 months? He was the best pitcher out there on waivers.
  13. They were predicted to be closer to losing 90 than winning 90. Padres is a mystery.
  14. Meh...these articles are a dime a dozen. It's not like we didn't already know this.
  15. They turn it up a notch in the post season. They wouldn't do very well on bad teams.
  16. I'll assume she wants more money.
  17. Reminds me of the Sox. JR is not aligned with reality.
  18. It's all about who is hot. That's it. See Diamondbacks and Phillies.
  19. That's more after the fact.
  20. I think this team is cursed when it comes to free agents. Both of those guys would probably end up playing like Sheets.
  21. The Rays have a dynasty from their farm system but in the post season they die nasty. But baseball is not a predictable sport. You win those 100 games so you get there. Some teams can club you to death but you still need stud pitchers for the post season.
  22. Ugh! Identity politics ruins everything.
  23. Basic cable is actually my highest utility. People confuse cutting cable but if one were to do that it means your cable company is no longer your ISP. I don't get ESPN or the news networks and it's $150 a month. My light bill doesn't even go that high running the air everyday in the desert. I remember subscribing once to watch the NHL online and 90% of the games were blackouts. Talk about a needed class action lawsuit.
  24. Only local. Evening games are usually on ESPN. I remember when MTV was in every household you got to watch the Braves, USA would have a Thursday night game, and of course there was Monday Night Baseball. The major 3 networks gave way to the cable networks. Now WGN only does Cub games locally.
