I am hard pressed to believe the Giants and Braves have a better chance to win than the Sox. I'd say the Brewers too, but with that staff.....Milwaukee could definitely could win it . Though I admit I'd be happy to draw them in the WS if the Sox were to get there.

I don't think its a stretch to say Abreu has turned himself into a top third MLB defender at 1B. Pretty incredible what he's done over there. Abreu is a fucking man. Love the dude. I know this is a Luis thread, but Abreu gets no where near as much respect as he deserves nationally, league-wide, and even among Sox fans. He's a Sox legend. So happy they resigned him, and he's already earned every dollar of that $50M.

It's already been said, but he has 8 WAR upside. Honestly, he doesn't even need to hit his ceiling to be an 8 WAR player. If he can stay healthy, he's an MVP caliber player year and year out. If he can stay healthy, and hit his ceiling, he could be one of the best ever. The talent is that legit.

Hamilton takes 1 spot. Collins the other. When Engel is ready Lamb is DFAd. When Marshall is ready, they figure that out then. Probably Wright if its still a couple weeks down the road.

Yes but he has to throw 160 In 21 and 22 for 23 to vest. He’s at 135 right now so could easily be kept under with a move to the pen for some portion of the next 5 weeks.

I believe Stiever is hurt and may even be out for the season.

May as well just throw him in the bullpen right now and let Lopez take his spot. He definitely is not going to be starting games in the playoffs. And if you put him the pen now, he isn’t going to reach 160 innings and, and then you l don’t have to worry about that vesting option next year. Let him have another heck at a rotation spot next spring.

We are two of the people who support Grandal alot here against the bozos you’re referring to because he’s a really fucking good baseball player. All I see in Conforto's 21 performance is making an unattainable player attainable. He’ll be a steal in his next deal, and I hope is for the Sox cause he's an awesome fit.

Ah gotcha. Yeah I guess. I think Collins and Perez is plenty insurance as long as a vet like Gomes is brought in.

You must be have confused with someone else. Conforto is a very good baseball player, SSS 21 be damned.

1 year prove it deal would be nice. Would happily give him more years tho. Dude looked like a $100M type guy 12 months ago. I'd happily sign him to 3/$45-50M deal. Whoever signs him to that deal is going to be happy.

Huh? Grandal is signed for 2 more years. Yan Gomes would be a great backup behind Grandal, but we certainly wouldn't need another.

We're talking about 5 days here. Collins will be back September 1. They both suck tho - just happy we'll get Grandal behind the plate at least 4 days a week moving forward.

Michael Conforto should be priority A. Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Eloy DH/LF, Conforto RF, Robert CF, Vaughn LF/DH, Grandal C, Hernandez 2B BN: Engel, vet FA catcher, Mendick, FA utility guy (fully expect them to resign Leury) SHOW ME A LOSS ON THE SCHEDULE!

It’s going to be sticky. Engel, Hamilton, Yaz and perhaps Marshall all need to enter the equation. See very little chance that Burger or Sheets see more big league time this year unless due to injury.

Ruiz would have to be DFA so won’t be him.

I’m not that surprised. The Sox have no depth in aaa for a spot start. You DFA Wright and you probably lose him and him and ReyLo are it. I actually think he may survive until Marshall is ready.

True and good point. Though that is a 1 for 1 swap and really doesn't impact the crunch we're going to see one way or the other. With Rodon coming back tomorrow, that move will actually happen before Yaz/Engel so maybe... Rodon for Mendick Yaz for Seby (Friday) Engel for Wright DFA? Lamb DFA? Then next Wednesday Billy takes 1 spot Seby back for the other? Still leaves out Mendick and Marshall, but that's probably going to be play now that I've thought about it some more. I thought I read somewhere at some point that of the 2 extra roster spots in Sep, 1 had to go to a pitcher. If thats true, that whole theory in the trash. I admittedly find way too much enjoyment in back of the 26/8 man rosterbation, but I guess I am a Sox nerd like that.
