Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
I wonder if the Sox were to trade Kimbrel to the Angels if they can get Sam Bachman in return. He's who the Angels took in this past draft in the first round.

Sox to talk about Semien with Boras
How long would you go on a Semien deal? If he's 31 going into the next season, I'd go 5 years with a high AAV

Justin Verlander re-signs in Houston
I’m of the opinion the the Sox need to sign a starter and an “innings eater”, someone who can stretch the rotation and allow the team to skip Kopech from time to time, especially early in the season. Pitching is a big need, starters and the pen.

Justin Verlander re-signs in Houston
Glad Verlander isn’t on the Sox. I think using $25M for a pitcher who’s almost 40 and coming off TJS is a bad use of resources if it’s a good sign for Jerry opening the checkbook.

Conforto rejects QO, enters free agency
Hoping the Sox can get Conforto locked up before Thanksgiving

Sox to talk about Semien with Boras
Covid is a new disease. There’s not enough data and information out there on how it changes someone’s body but people who had severe cases, have experienced side effects lasting weeks, months and a year. It’s not an excuse, he had a severe case of a dangerous virus. It’s very likely and possible that the reason he’s not hitting the ball as hard is that Covid could’ve zapped a lot of his strength.

Im curiously excited to see what Moncada looks like another year away from Covid

Hopefully they’re talking about Conforto too.

Kimbrel option expected to be exercised
Would you guys rather the Sox trade Kimbrel for prospects who can help the team down the line or major league piece(s) that can help the team now?

Sox give no qualifying offers
I don’t get the decision not to extend the QO to Rodon. It’s a bad sign for the off-season, it shows us that Jerry still isn’t willing to spend like an owner of a major market team. The only acceptable answer is that they think Rodon is physically toast and don’t want to risk wasting $18M on someone who’s at the end of their rope physically. With Kopech going back into the rotation, pitching is now the biggest need alongside 2B in my opinion. They need to find guy who can eat innings, and quality innings at that. Delfascanti is a dude I like for the Sox.

Really good move by Detroit.

I dont have Scherzer as one of the best FA, I'd be worried if my favorite team signed him to a deal as a premiere addition. He's 37 and there's a lot of mileage to that arm.

It's not good from a Sox perspective. I don't think they need a SS. Freeman, Gausman, Bryant and Stroman probably stay put. Are there any quality second baseman on the market? It doesn't look like it. (I imagine Semien moves back to SS if he leaves Toronto)

The FA pool isn’t very good. Its looking like the Sox have to go the trade route if they want to make some serious acquisitions.

When the Sox pay up for free agents, they typically perform as expected. Their problem has been when they try to take fliers and find “bargains”. I don’t think that was a Hahn problem, I think that had a lot to do with the Sox pro scouting, which for a long period of time was horrendous. They seemed to have gotten better in that department since Nick Hostetler has taken over that post.

I think people on this forum really overrate Colas and Cespedes

Very optimistic, I hope the Sox trade him for something useful to the ML team

What to do with the abreu/vaughn/sheets/burger logjam in 2022?
If I’m running the team, I’d make both Sheets and Burger available in trade talks. Vaughn too but it would take a lot for me to move him. The Sox need to get more flexible with guys who can play multiple positions, especially guys who can fill in up the middle. It’s the weakest part of the org in my opinion.

I was going to say but that’s the type of catcher the Sox should look to acquire this winter.

2021 Catch-All
The Strike has not been averted, both managing powers just came to terms. The members of IATSE could still (and as of now, probably will) reject the deal.

Then how do the Dodgers and Rays develop guys all the time during their windows? Crochet and Kopech were poorly mishandled this year, doesn't mean they won't be starters moving forward.

No, David Fletcher is 5'9 not 5'0

I really hope the team really upgrades their bench going into next year.

Hopefully Jerry sees what we all saw, comes to his sense and fires TLR. It all starts and stop with him. And if he refuses to do so, its going to be another wasted year.

I would love it if the Sox were able to get David Fletcher from LAA to be their second baseman. He had a massive slump this year but I think he'd be a great fit on the Sox. Bat him ninth and watch him get on base.
