Beltran signs with Astros
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) They're paying him and running out of positions for him. We just gotta hope Houston still adds another bat for 1B like Edwin. Rumors that Boston or Yankees may be landing spot for EE. Morosi thinks New York https://twitter.com/jonmorosi?ref_src=twsrc...7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Winter Meetings Predictions Thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) We're still a day away from the Winter Meetings and I'm dying for some baseball rumors. To overcome what will be the longest 24 hours ever, I thought we could take a crack at what moves Hahn will make during this year's meetings. Let me be clear, this isn't about who you want traded and who you would like coming back. This thread is simply meant to guess the most likely/realistic trades than Hahn will execute between now and December 8th. You can'rt be looking too hard.

Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) That's actually a great stat, thanks! That coupled with the exit velos and launch angles gives me some hope. He's 25, not 28. Worst case he helps us get a top 5 draft pick. Best case he actually develops. Its a no lose situation on a rebuilding team. He is blocking no one. On the present roster. But we don't know what prospects acquired via trades will be in AZ next spring.

White Sox News FA / Rumors / News
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) In theory, it would make one of their young hitters expendable and they have a need for a front-line SP. Wait awhile and every rumor will be updated with a different one: Edwin Encarnacion may soon follow Cespedes's lead and end his free agency by this week, his agent tells TSN's Rick Westhead. The Toronto Blue Jays were “showing Edwin the most love.” The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros are also in the running, according to Olney. http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/12/01/rumors-ne...ts-deals-trades

The CBA is done - formerly the CBA is not done thread
QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Agreed. Plus...what does the CBA have to do with a bunch of owners and GMs gathering in some warm weather location to talk shop and tip a few back? Makes zero sense.... National Harbor, Maryland??? That site alone may be the reason the GM's are stalling.

White Sox waiting for bigger offers on Sale
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) This is exactly the way it should be. If we don't get the return we deserve for a player of Sale's caliber then we don't make a trade. If we regroup for 2017 we build around pitching Agree and I have felt he will not get traded because of that. But I wonder with all the Sale trade talk comments in the media including even Hahn, what does it do to Sale's mindset if he returns? Some posters feel the Sox have had it w Sale's antics but will he be worse if he returns. He could also come back with a chip on his shoulder and be more dominant.

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 01:02 AM) Agree So far with still a limited sample size, Saladino has been league average at 3B but above average at 2nd.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Napoli is a free agent, his next deal will likely earn him more than Abreu. Napoli is 35 and he made 7 Mil this year on a 1 year deal. My guess is he will probably sign another 1 or even a 2 year at 5 or 6 per year.
-
SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (Username @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Probably already been talked about - but with the Astros looking at Napoli and other DH/1B types, you've gotta think Abreu is being discussed as well. Saves them a lot of money and it's easier for them to justify a Bregman starting point. You lost me. Abreu will make considerably more ( $6-7 Mil) than Napoli next year.

NCAA basketball thread 2016-17
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Come on, this is ridiculous. Would they get beat? Yea, sometimes. But more often than they would win? Hell no Agree

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 02:02 AM) Word on the street is that they're looking at 1B/DH options like Napoli and Beltran. Supposedly Red Sox and Yankees are interested in Beltran but have stiff competition for him since he is probably a 1 year contract guy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Between the two teams, I would much rather see Sale traded to the National League. I bet so would the White Sox FO

How would you feel emotionally if/when Sale is traded?
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) If we get a good return, I won't be all that upset. I wouldn't call him a cancer, but I think he's immature and would probably be a bully to younger guys coming up. And I hate disrespect to the manager and front office. I'd like to see him in the National league preventing that team on the northside of the city winning multiple championships. Does that affect his trade value???

Bleacher Report: Jose Quintana, not Chris Sale, is the most valuable o
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Plus Quintana isn't going to be slicing up uniforms in your locker room. He wouldn't have a major impact in Boston or LA but Sale is a much better box office/merchandise boom than Q for teams like Washington, Houston and Texas.

Four year control guys off the table(JQ,Nate,Eaton)
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) Here is a Rick Hahn quote that contradicts the thread title. He really would have no reason to lie. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/208...chable-players/ Agree although it is a little stale as he has had 10+ days to see more of the potential market. But the last paragraph probably is still in play as well. A lot of our guys, given their druthers, want to win a championship in Chicago," Hahn said. "And we've made no secret the last several years that is has been our preference to win with the high caliber of players we have here now. Again, until there starts being transactions in that direction, we're evaluating all our options.

Frazier wants to stay, doesn't want Sox to trade Sale
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) When everywhere we turn there is bad news for the Sox Frazier is actually a ray of sunshine. When it seems as if no free agents want to come here, here is Todd Frazier telling the world the Sox are a team he wants to stay with . Bless his heart for being such a goodwill Ambassador for the Sox. We could use more like him. Chris Sale has said he wants to stay too.....................................

Guess the Sale trade
QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) I think that one additional factor which favors Boston is that they can afford to trade several top prospects. It is quite apparent that they want to win now, and Sale could make the difference for them. They won't need Benintendi, with Betts and JBJ in their outfield. They have enough depth at 3RD, to part with Devers. They can afford to trade at least one of their young starters, if they acquire Sale. Despite Dombrowski's insistence that he won't part with Moncada, they don't need him either, for this championship run. Even if Chicago couldn't pry all of those guys loose, there is Travis, as a substitute for one of Moncada or Devers. Remember they called him up in August because they do not have a LF. If he is traded, they have to find a replacement which they don't seem to have in house. That is why I thought they might be more apt to trade Moncada if they are going for a big splash. He is a player w/o a position at the present time. To me, Benintendi seems likely to be a solid MLB player. But most writers indicate Moncada could be a real stud if he makes it. Time will tell.

McCann from NYY to HOU
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 06:16 PM) This pretty much confirms a White Sox rebuild. They have loved McCann and would have topped that return if they were going for it. Although it probably wasn't going to happen, that means Gary Sanchez is off the table for NY in any trades.

Guess the Sale trade
QUOTE (South Sider @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I think the Red Sox owners will push DD to make a deal for Sale. Those guys want to win and they know the Red Sox are on the cusp of having another championship team, and pitching will put them over the top. They need Sale. The Dodgers need Sale too, and I think they have an equally good chance of landing Sale, but I just think the Red Sox owners will eventually tell DD to make it happen... which would really be in the White Sox favor. Maybe they could still pry Moncada and Benitendi +... Not sure their owners are that concerned since they have already won 2 World Championships and are raking in money with attendance, merchandise, TV and corporate endorsements. They even own the AAA franchise. They probably approve major trades but from all indications in the media, DD runs the show especially w the departure of Larry Lucchino. They literally have a monopoly in New England until football season ( NFL since college football is not relevant)

Interesting 2016 stats

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) Didnt really seem like your point at all. Seemed like your point was to call his source dumb, and now you are backtracking it to what you feel is realistic Sorry if that was how it looked. My point was the source said a possiblity was JBJ and Benintendi or Moncada plus. He obviously just threw names out since Boston would not trade their starting LF and CF in a trade. As I posted elsewhere, writers just throw out trades at this time of year with no factual basis. For example the two articles in another thread the last few days : 1. Had Benintendi Devers and Kopech + for Sale 2. The other said Boston pulled Moncada and Kopech off the table in any trades. Obviously one or both have no reliable source backing them.

Rumor: Reported Potential Red Sox package for Sale
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) According to Jonah Birenbaum of The Score, a Red Sox deal involving Chris Sale would include Benintendi, Devers, and Kopech. https://twitter.com/Pete_BBS/status/798949568733966336 FWIW: Here is another source that says Boston has pulled Moncada and Kopech off the table in any trades and will not overpay for Sale. There will be numerous unsubstantiated rumors( opinions) every day. I saw somewhere todayon MSN that Yankees top priority is getting Mike Trout. www.inquisitr.com/.../boston-red-sox-trade-rumors-chris-sale-bidding-war-with-chica...

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) Dude pay attention. It was said he was speaking hypothetically. I understand dude. Hypothetically you and I want their starting outfield plus Moncada and Devers..........................................and the people in hell want ice water. My point was he didn't put out a realistic trade.
