  1. So more Royals stuff, Brian Bannister played most of his career with the Royals and was teammates with Getz there in 2010. He is the son of Sox great Floyd Bannister. He went to the same high school as Paul Konerko. He is also a super accomplished photographer, having been a Fine Arts major at USC.
  2. Barfield is replacing Getz. Bannister replaces Tedford. I don’t know who the Sox director of pro scouting is, but whoever that is sucks, so it is at worst a lateral move.
  3. Easier said then done with Bazzana and Weatherford in a super-thin class. I think Bazzana is probably not limited to 2b. He's gonna play ss this year at OSU and he's athletic enough to play OF, but yeah, not a good history.
  4. Most interesting part for me is when a member in the front office who never played the game belittled Gordon's actual MLB career, which he rightly said should always be a no no. He wouldn't name names. I guessed Hahn or Haber, but he spoke with passion about respecting effort.
  5. Colas has been a disaster in all phases, so I don't have a problem with them sending him out, but if not him, who is going to play right for them next year? But at this point, I despise Grifol. He's not good with the veterans he inherited and he is not good with the young guys. Exactly who is he good at leading?
  6. Jose Urena’s stats are amazingly bad. But at least he’s 31. At this point, I think the White Sox have gone avant-garde “The Athletics of Cruelty.”
  7. Or, scary thought, Grifol wants a GM he can control.
  8. Crochet at 95-96, command still iffy. K's 2 in a 1, 2, 3 inning.
  9. 14th rounder Edrick Felix just hit a BOMB. He has work to do defensively, but there are tools there.
  10. "Specifically, I'm going to ask the players if they have any idea how this team can get better, because I don't have a clue."
  11. Batista lost his composure a little at the unusually bad Kanny defense. He gave up 2 runs on an infield single, another infield single that should have been an error, a sac fly, another infield single that was a tough play for Sprinkle but could have been made and a real single where the batter reached second after they threw to the wrong base. They lead 5-3.
  12. Nastrini done with a rough line 2.2 IP 3H 2R 2ER 5bb 5K 4WP. Man on 1st is his responsibility.
  13. Nastrini has now walked 5 guys in 2 innings along with 2 hits, but somehow has allowed only 2 runs so far. 63 pitches. He is not long for that game. Batista pitching well for Kanny so far. They lead 5-1. 2 singles for Gonzalez. 1 of them was hit kinda hard. W-S up 1-0 on a Chappy HR. I think his wrist injury bothered him for most of the year. His power has returned with a vengenance over the last few weeks.
  14. Gavin Sheets with a pathetic AB with bases juiced. His numbers have nosedived. Misses Burger?
  15. Magglio's issue is a little different, I think. If I remember correctly, he wanted to use a enriched platelet therapy that was illegal in the US at the time, but legal in Europe. It was a therapy widely used at the time by soccer stars, but not used at all over here. He turned out to be right, but what are the Sox doctors supposed to do. Magglio ended up winning a batting title, and the Sox won a world series, so maybe it was for the best.
  16. Thanks. I miscounted, so they've got to cut at least 1 guy from this list. Agonizing. James would probably know batter than I do, but I believe players younger than 19 when they signed in 2019 have to be protected, and college guys from 2020 have to be protected. It was a short draft in which the Sox fared poorly, so only Crochet from there. The 2019 International class was Mena, Veras, and Elijah Tatis, so I think I got everyone there. I think Nastrini, Bush, and Quero are all from 2021. Tatum is 2021, as is Montgomery, Kath, and Gil Luna. Schultz, Baldwin, Burke, Elko, Cannon, Pallette, etc all last year. I'm sure someone could argue for relievers like Haylen Green? Or Caleb Freeman? But the pickings are pretty slim. I suppose you could say Gladney is Rule 5 eligible, but no one's trying to keep him on an mlb roster next year.
  17. Thanks. Looks like a good list. I may not ultimately keep 34 of them. I feel like they've probably got to bring in close to 10 new guys from other orgs because, despite all the talk of "talent," it's obvious that the Sox roster lacks true major leaguers. They literally have about 7-8 guys who are proven big leaguers that I have any amount of faith in. Everybody else is just roster filler. Remillard, for instance, sure keep him I guess. 30 year-old utility player without a carrying tool. This team is acres away from competitive. I guess if you count a few guy who don't have to be on the 40-man like Montgomery, Nastrini, and Quero, they may be able to cobble together a team, but I think there is going to be some serious dumpster diving this offseason trying to find their version of Noda.
  18. It has never even occurred to Pedro that this thread exists.
  19. Seby's DFA has me thinking about the Sox paltry 40 man. Here are my takes so far, assuming that Clevinger, Andrus, Trayce Thompson, Grandal, and Hendriks are not brought back: Guys who could/have to be added to the 40 (5): Carela, Eder, Mena, Matt Thompson, Wilfred Veras. Guys who are definitely staying (15): Bummer, Cease, Crochet, Kopech, Santos, Kory Lee, Ramos, Moncada, Popeye, Sosa, Colas, Jimenez, Robert, Vaughn, Benintendi. Bubble (10): TA (contract option), Banks, Lambert, Davis Martin, Lane Ramsey, Sammy Peralta, Scholtens, Toussaint, Sheets, Carlos Perez, Romy Gonzalez. The first 3 groups add up to 30 and I wouldn't even keep/add all of them. Here's the dregs of the 40 man(10): Cronin, Matt Foster, Deivi Garcia, Navarro, Padilla, Patino, Remillard, Frazier, Haseley, Naquin. (Not sure if Naquin is eligible for FA. Wouldn't bring him back regardless.) Now, you could keep every single player I have listed here. That is a 40 man roster, but ugh. Half the guys on there are release candidates/AAAA players. Who would you guys Keep, Release, Try to trade?
  20. This is pretty much a carbon copy of Saturday.
  21. Cancel the postgame show, also the rest of the season.
  22. Salvy the Savior does not come through, but the Royals lead 5-0 thanks to his leadership.
